Pedro | Signs new contract until 2019

Where did you get that from? Barcelona has what, the biggest wage bill in football (maybe City is higher, can't remember). That's not counting this season where they've added Suarez.

You sure it's not his wages after taxes? FM has him on over 90k which is about what I thought. 100k was my estimation. He's their most veteran player in attack that isn't a starter and attackers generally earn more than defenders.
Just some links i found on google. Not sure how accurate they are though.

We have the biggest wage bill in football.
No we don't. I've seen various sources. Sometimes Barcelona are paying more than Real, sometimes Real more than Barca. Never seen a source say United are the biggest. Usually 5th or 6th.

Interestingly, United now also have the highest wage bill in Europe with €269 million, having overtaken Real Madrid €250 million and Barcelona €248 million. Much of this is due to the exchange rate used (this calculation is based on the 1.25 rate that Deloitte are likely to use in their 2014 Money League) and it also depends on how clubs account for things like image rights, but it does give you pause for thought.

Without Falcao we are closer.

Don't know about that middle article. Say 'Naymar' instead of Neymar and say he's their 4th highest earner and then proceed to name 4 players that earn more than him.

The first links average is quite a bit below the Forbes average. Third link seems to have the same source.

I'm not saying that FM 90k per week was correct because no one knows for certain but I'm fairly sure they take into accounts reports from here and there coupled with the yearly bank statements that show the average each month and base their guesses on that.

But it's an average, it's not the wage bill. We have a lot of players.
We have more players than Barca? Both the leagues and the CL require a 25 man squad with extras on the side.

I don't see how a team that didn't have the highest wage bill suddenly has it after Vidic, Rio, Evra, Giggs, Fletcher all leave who all were earning high wages (Fletcher probably counted in all these reports) plus Kagawa, Anderson, Welbeck and Zaha. The numbers you posted seemed to be from the 13/14 season.

It's also a fact that Falcao is gone and won't come back so taking him into accounts of presence tense doesn't hold water anymore.

Good deal for Pedro. He would be a squad player at the other elite clubs as well. He is solid all around but, does not really excel at anything.

Your table is from the summer 2014. Below you can see that our list goes from 24 to 69 players when Barcelona or Madrid list count 29 players, PSG registered 23 players. An average wage is very deceiving since I don't know how many players they counted.

But it's not important and not the place for this.

He'll stay till we are able to sign someone. Great loyal player off the bench, hardworking and when on form he's as good as it gets for a sub

I'm not convinced Pedro will remain, the logical/economical thing to do would be to sell him now that his contract was extended and rely on the youth players - Sandro, Adama, Munir or Deulofeu

I think he lost his chance ever since they loaned him again to Sevilla. Has a bad attitude and is a selfish little player.

I never read a verifiable criticism of Gerard's attitude or selfishness by any of his youth coaches (Barca or NT) or Martinez while with the Toffees - if this were remotely accurate, he would've been moved on long ago & certainly would've been set aside with the NT and not made Captain. Let's also not forget that Emery & Sevilla had nothing to gain with playing the player and that Unai pulled similar with Isco at Valencia.

Moreover, I continue to contend the player never was given a proper chance with the 1st team, nevermind Lucho - all other Masia kids were given ample opportunities with the 1st team before a decision was made whereas Deulofeu was shipped off on loans, twice. Some may not recall but loans are simply not a way that the club deals with it's talent, especially one as heralded as Gerard

I do think Deulofeu's situation has become more complicated with the elections occurring now since no transactions/transfers will take place before July 19. The pre-season tour starts in the US with the 1st match on July 21 which shortens the time period to either negotiate a move (He allegedly refuses another loan) or train much with the 1st team. Lot will depend on the election and what the incoming board's approach to the cantera will be, coupled with how they will get Lucho to accept a player he barely gave a shot last summer. Of course, we know that Enrique learned from some mistakes he made during the season, will he do similar with youth players like Deulofeu? We'll see but I hope so

Either way, no deal, to Everton or elsewhere, will be consummated prior to the elections and surely a buyback will be included if it comes to that

Don't rate him. Decent little player but nothing special. Wouldn't mind if Liverpool signed him.
