Undoubtedly. Di Maria, Depay, Young, Pedro, Mata and Januzaj competing for two positions? No chance.

Januzaj can play more centrally and is probalby even better there. Same with Mata. Pedro could play in the striker position as well. There's a good chance we would go for him without letting anyone go.

Really? I can't see him leading the line at all, way too small and lightweight.

I forgot Chicharito tbf. Rather Pedro than Wilson (at the moment), Depay, Januzaj or even Mata as I've seen suggested on here which I find especially bizarre.

But there probably won't be a central position for them. With Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Herrera and Fellaini all vying for central positions I can't see us playing with two of them and a no. 10 ahead of them except for very few games.

I would agree with that (except maybe Depay) but playing Pedro as a lone striker should still not be considered a viable option.

Probably true! I'm just hoping Di Maria isnt leaving so am trying to find ways they could both get a lot of games.

Does anyone know for sure what Pedro's stronger foot is? This is usually the first thing I notice about a player. With Pedro I must have seen him play at least 50 times and I'm still not sure. I think it's his left - either way he's the most two footed player I have ever seen

He's naturally right-footed but extremely ambidextrous. (Did I spell that right?)

It's been a long time since I saw him really play in all honesty. No idea what he is like these days. I only watch the games that are a challenge to them, he didn't play enough in these games.

Yep (the fact he's naturally right footed, my spelling is shite so can't help with the spelling question)

Would spell the end for mata and Januaj in the wide positions
Probably expxting Depay to have an adjustment period as well so not as well stocked as you would think

He may not a be a week in week out starter for Barcelona but he's still an excellent player. If Di Maria leaves then £22m would be a great buy in my opinion.

If pedro comes then ADM or fellaini will leave

LVG has been pretty open about his preference for 433. In my opinion he's assembling a squad to fit that system.

He's been pretty open for his preference for a 433 with the point forwards and how he likes having 4 attacking/creative players in the side. We saw last night a kind of 4231 and that's what we will see next season - 4 attacking players from Rooney, Wilson, Depay, Mata, Young, Januzaj, Fellaini, Pereira, Herrera on occasion, and Di Maria/replacement.

I think we'll buying him as a forward, he can be Rooneys replacement when injured or they can both play together in a 4-3-3 with AdM/Januzaj/Depay on the other wing. Young and Fellaini(although doing good last year especially the former) would probably have to be let go.

Great player and fits a 433 better than the players we currently have.

It does seem from this summer's signings that LVG is signing players to fit a system rather than splashing out on marquee signings and trying to shoehorn them into the team.

The signings of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin to stack our midfield options suggest the system will be the 433 we adopted in our best spell of form last season and Pedro would be another clear indication of this.

I would be gutted to see Di Maria leave as we haven't seen the best of him yet and in the right set-up I think he would be a real fan favourite and a regular matchwinner here. I'm not sure if he is perhaps too much of a free spirit though to play in LVG's 433.

I would think so for Mata; it would be about time for him to fight for the number 10 role. However, I don't think this should be the end for Januzaj as a winger. Should Di Maria leave, Januzaj would be the only lefty we have for that inverted winger role on the right flank. If anything, I would have Januzaj and Pedro competing for that spot on the right flank.

Why would Barca let him go?

Like Schweinsteiger he's earned the right at his club to decide whether he wants to stay or go and if it's the latter Barca won't block his move. More a case of Pedro seeking more playing time than Barca actively pushing him out. With Messi, Suarez and Neymar and the additions of Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan (who can both play as wingers) and the promotions of Munir and/or Sandro (youth players) the forward line at Barca is too stacked.

I'd genuinely rather see us play Januzaj more. Pedro is a brilliant player and he'd probably do very well here, but we need to start giving our youth more of a chance. Without Pedro, that'd leave Memphis, Young, Di Maria, Januzaj and perhaps Pereria and Mata fighting for two/three places (assuming Young keeps up his form and Pereria or Mata don't take up more central roles), or just having Januzaj playing more when the game suits him or if there's any injuries.

Same goes for the strikers. Rooney, Wilson and another striker competing for 1 place is more than enough, and it'd mean Wilson gets so much more game time.

If hes is available the signing is a no brainer IMO, goal scoring wide player, and what did we lack last season? Fecking goals!

His goalscoring record is not that great when you compare it to Messi in the same team - remember they dominate most teams that they play in La Liga

Maybe because Messi is on a different planet to Pedro?
Well, yes but the gulf is so great that it makes you wonder whether he has only done what he has done due to being in such a dominant team (Pedro I mean)

Whos goalscoring record is great when you compare it to Messi? For a wide player who isn't a regular either, double figures in goals for the past 6 years is impressive.
His finishing is also very good

Also, bear in mind that we will need to beat teams like Barca if we want to win the Champions League - can we afford to rely on players that are on a 'different planet' than theirs?

He is a good player in his own right, doesn't matter if he plays for a top team. Bojan was testament to that, as were Wellbeck, Cleverly and Anderson

Yes, but not many players play for Barcelona so difficult to compare - but with Pedro you can

That's a fair point but I think it's exaggerated. I mean we've seen how good Cesc and Sanchez did in the EPL, coming from the exact same team.

Also on your point about signing players - there isn't many even close to Messi's level. Bar the few, Ronaldo etc; who would most likely be almost impossible to pry away from their respective clubs.

My opinion is very biased because I really dislike Pedro therefore I would rather not see him in a red shirt ...

I dare say he will move to another club and look a world beater. Barca's attackers really are on another planet.

At that price, if LVG thinks he would fit well, I would be excited by the addition.

Don't think it necessarily means Di Maria is off. I really hope he stays another season.

Good but unlikeable player. I'd rather not, to be honest. And I don't think we need him either.

I guess Guardiola and Enrique are blind then.

Pedro was integral to Barca's success in the beginning of this decade. He was one of the most consistent players I've ever seen and IIRC has the record on scoring in consecutive matches (he scored in 8 or so games in a row). With 0.49 goals per 90 minutes over his career (more than 300 matches) he has one of the best goalscoring stats from non-striker players. He scored 25.9% of his shots and around 64% of the shots around the box. He is probably the most efficient player right there.

A goal ever other game from midfield is exceptional.

I remember when we played them in 2011, I was reading an pre-match analysis from Rafa Benitez and he said Pedro was a class act and would be the star of any other team in Europe.
