Not a big fan of him and is not 'THE' signing one would hope in forward position right now but there aren't many forwards available at the moment who can be bought. Benzema is impossible with the way De Gea-Ramos negotiations are going. Lewandowski is very difficult. Lacazette maybe, possible. Cavani might be double the price of Pedro. Kane can be risk and even if we take that risk, still it will be very tough negotiations with Levy and Kane doesn't seem very keen on leaving Spurs yet. So all things considered, not a bad option to get Pedro. Adds a wide forward to the ranks and has experience at top levels and playing with top players. Even with his bit part role at Barca, he is usually amongst the goals (though has to be said he plays in a team which creates bucket loads). As there are reports that Chicharito is no longer available for sale and will be given chance this season, maybe we can do with not adding out and out CF but add pace wide upfront and Pedro suits that.

If I remember well He's a Right sided forward/winger whose got an eye for goal. He's the type of player United needs in a 4-3-3 system

Tell that to Scholes, Mata or Silva.
I agree to some degree but Mata's biggest weakness is his strength and that's what holds him back and stops him being a world beater. Pedro might get away with it just because of his pace but he isn't as good as the players you mention In my opinion.

In today's market £22m is a steal.

He's an excellent player. Di Maria is of course the better of the two but I am resigned to him leaving now.

Rumours seem to be building, could well be the forward we want to sign.

Di Maria is better but he's heart seems not set to United and seems less direct than Pedro. Pedro on the flanks for 22m may also mean spending big for a forward

It isn't that for me.

As I see it, he's someone that excels at movement and being at the end of chances. Always more of a goalscorer than a winger that will beat defenders to open up a game or create chances for others. We need the second type of with winger, not the first.

We probably need both, since we don't have really have many goalscorers.

Good signing, keep Di Maria as well

Another quality player to be added to the ever growing quality of a squad, at a snippet of the price being quoted nowadays if compared to other players; e.g. Sterling? Why not. United should be filled with quality experienced players mixed with young upcoming potentials. I would prefer to have other players if given the choice but I guess the others are not available and only would be available at more than triple the price quoted for Pedro, even if just rumours.

Seems to be the general consensus on here that Di Maria's only world-class season was one in which he played a kind a hybrid left-midfield role. As a wide forward though, surely Pedro has shown more throughout his career? He's ridiculously two-footed, a great finisher with great positional instincts, and above all (when comparing him to wingers like Di Maria or Nani) consistent. And given that LVG quite obviously does not intend to play Di Maria in midfield, surely this move would make perfect sense (i.e. letting Di Maria go to PSG for most of our money back).

Pedro would be a brilliant signing. So underrated. Bags of pace and a brilliant clinical finisher. Would love him here

Signing him and keeping Di Maria might be overkill IMO. Unless we loan Januzaj and/or Wilson.

If we sign him and keep all our attacking players, then we will have Young, Depay, Di Maria, Fellaini, Januzaj, Mata, Hernandez, Rooney, Pedro and Wilson fighting for four positions. I think that 2 players for a position is ideal, but 2.5 is a bit too much IMO. Especially considering that one of those positions goes by default to Rooney, which means 9 players for the other 3 positions.

Possibly the best idea is to sign Pedro, loan both Januzaj and Wilson and then have two quality player for each positions.

I have a feeling though, that he'll come as Di Maria replacement. Not as good as Di Maria at his best, but he'll be very suited to our posession based system, while Angel is more suited to a counter attacking team.

Fairly certain we are playing 433 this year so it's actually only 3 positions! If we get him Adnan should certainly go out on loan.

ADM, Depay, Januzaj

Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson

Pedro, Young, Mata

Can't see this happening unless we sell Di Maria. Di Maria is obviously the better player out of the two but we might actually become a better team with Pedro he seems like a player who would fit Van Gaals philosophy very well.

This.

Pedro isn't amazing or anything but he would be a better winger for us than Di Maria due to his greater goal threat and ability to play possession football. When you consider the financial aspect as well then it would seem a perfectly logical set of deals.

He's not very consistent though. His seasons tend to have some purple patches of goalscoring (mostly against smaller sides) and some patches of poor form.

Is it just me or did anyone else feel he disappeared into the wilderness after his goal against us in the CL final?

They bought Sanchez, and split time in his right side role with him and Fabregas for a while, then purchased Suarez so it's been hard for him to get into that front 3.
He's had game time but it's fair to say his path has been blocked by expensive signings they've made more than anyone else at Barca.

I don't really want him to be honest, maybe If Di Maria left, otherwise.. meh.

Pedro is 28?? For some reason I was thinking he was 24..

Anyway would be a good replacement for Di Maria if he is leaving, since we want someone to play on the wings, not replacing Di Maria in a central position.. If Di Maria is staying then I think we ll need to loan out Januzaj, won't get enough minutes if we have both Di Maria along with Pedro and Memphis

I'd be far more comfortable with Pedro as a striker of Rooney is injured than anyone else in our squad.

Really? I can't see him leading the line at all, way too small and lightweight.
