I'd like to know what this leak is all about. Has there been a player that we acutally signed after we leaked our interest in him? It's rather strange tbh. Considering his buyout clause it won't make much of a difference but still....

He was linked to chelsea I think and then things 'exploded' - but it might be a ruse to get a better contract somewhere so we might not be interested. Mind you, I doubt we'd be in a rush to deny anything seeing as it cost a rival more money :)

He's two footed, he can play on the left and on the right. Herrera and Mata should be in the middle.

the 3 that I listed most likely compliment Rooney and they should start together(probably Rooney on the left in 4-3-3 or behind the striker in 4-4-2).

Can't see Lewandowski, Benzema or Muller coming just to be on the bench or compete with Rooney for the striker position.

I know he is. Can play either side but again, he prefers the right. With memphis here now, we don't need someone on the left either.

I don't think we'll sign a top striker or atleast I hope we don't. Rooney shouldn't play anywhere else, just not good enough.

We obviously don't need him. Didn't we buy Depay to provide us precisely with what Pedro provides for teams? Anyways a second striker/wide forward without a bit of star-dust isn't my favourite cup of tea.

He is a 27 year old who can use either leg, play on either wing and also play up front when required. The man has LVG written all over him! Versatile and dynamic with technique and a 'work-horse' mentality. At that price, would be a great piece if business. On top of what he has technically, he has grown beside the likes of Messi, Neymar, Surrey, Sanchez, Ibra, Henry etc.

Posters on here know more than LVG, you know this!

Yep, he prefers on the right and there I think we only have Mata as a preferred position. Januzaj, Depay, AdM prefer on the left. If we get him, Rooney will always be central, but again if he is fecked for a longer period we're as well as we will have only Wilson as a striker.

If we buy a striker tho I can't see Rooney being central in 4-3-3.

Pedro is more experienced than Depay but again they cover the same positions so it's really depends how many games will Depay play next season and how much LvG will rely on him.

I think with RvP leaving we're a bit short in good finishers in our squad, so probably we need to buy one. I'd prefer someone who is not just a target man, but again seeing the alternatives I think Pedro is better as a footballer and someone who can fit in the system best.

I am not sure how I would fee if we signed Pedro to be Di Maria's replacement.

Both totally different kind of players with one being more of a goal scorer and the other seems all about creativity and assisting. I feel we need the latter more than the former now on one of the wings. Unless of course you are a Ronaldo but otherwise I want to see some creativity from our wide areas as we have seriously lacked that for the past few seasons and has been one of the main reasons why our goal tally has taken a hit.

£22 million for a player who can gets goals from anywhere along the front line? bargain. I don't think he'll really be #1 in any of the positions, but the fact he can play across the front will see him get plenty of game time and will save us having to buy a pure 9 just to sit on bench behind Rooney.

Yep, academy player who can't displace Messi - must be 2nd rate. Some truly ignorant assessments.

You couldn't find a more complete right winger than Pedro and who exactly would be better?
He had great run under pep for like 2-3 seasons but never guaranteed him a first team spot, otherwise Barca wouldn't hav had to buy David Villa, Sanchez and now Suarez & Neymar to play with Messi, heck even Fabregas started as wide forward over Pedro . Stop kidding yourself, if Pedro's that good I'm sure their managers would put more truth in him, instead of spending millions to find the right striker every years

Not saying he sucks, in fact he's quite tidy and would be good for many teams but just never good enough to be a top choice.

Maybe been said but what is the motivation for Ed to brief the press on this?

In a summer where we have said nothing unless it is in our interest, and anything that has come out would certainly be under the orders of LVG, so why tell anyone?

Smells of a red herring to me, maybe to hurry to ADM up on his decision, or to flush out a lower price on a differnt target.

I wanted to ask this earlier as well, how are we sure that Woody has briefed the press about it? Maybe I have missed some tweet but if someone could point it out, it would be helpful.

We don't as far as I know. Could have been Pedro's camp as well. Or Barca's. Either way. Leaking this information doesn't make the transfer any more gullible at all imo.

Cheers. But there has been some sort of briefing? I thought journos have pulled it out of thin air, like plenty of other transfer rumours.

Age difference means nothing then, great logic
To be fair to him, we let go of Nani whose last great season for us was 3-4 years back. Similar age as Pedro but has not shown much for a couple of years. So relying on past performances is not a good guide.

Woody had a talk with the journos at the US tour before leaving the tour, and hours later every single one of the Manchester journalists posted news stories simultaneously about us wanting Pedro. 100% briefed by Woody.

Think he was seen with a load of journolists earlier in the day, then a few hours later the usual suspects Odgen, Ladyman etc , had info on us not selling DDG unless Ramos joins, and the Pedro exclusive, all printed the story at about the same time.

The only reason we've leaked it is because it'll suit us to do so, just can't quite work out what that reason is.

Thanks. Didn't know that.

Well there you go. Make of that what you will though.

I think if the plan is to add him to our attacking options as opposed to replacing Di Maria people will be more enthusiastic.

That vid is probably better than Nani's whole career at United..

He's absolute quality & that 1st touch is sensational too. If we can get him for £22m - that's a feckin steal..

Hes a very good player, but NO Nanis highlight reel is actually pretty impressive, in fact I'd argue it was better

EDIT: BTW I would like us to sign Pedro

Yeah, I haven't watched Barca regularly the last few years, but I was under the impression he had become severely marginalized and a bit rubbish, but that highlight reel is pretty amazing for a substitute player.

That was only one season of Pedro though Cass & i'd hazard a guess, that many of Nani's great moves in his reel were just individual pieces & very few of them didnt lead to goals - unlike Pedro's last season highlights reel?

Go and watch the Nani highlight reel, plenty of goals and assists.
However I do agree with you, in saying that Pedro is a quality player and the better player right now, and I would be happy if we signed him.

Absolutely Top. I was under the impression he was shite last season from the folk on here. That vid was wicked proof he's still a top-class player & perfect for United..

Its strange indeed, considering Pedro was part of the Barca attack whilst Suarez was banned and Barca were playing some fantastic stuff. Some of the comments in here regarding Pedro are actually quite baffling

I've been watching Barcelona closely in the last 3/4 seasons and as @Ole's_toe_poke has said, his best form was most definitely 4 years ago in that 2010/11 season. He isn't average but by no means is he world class or the tier below. A world class finisher perhaps, but that is something which we most definitely do not need as we have players like Mata, Depay and Rooney. It is simple, we need creativity at a top level, which currently only Di Maria can bring us.

He played 15-16 games as a starter in the league and came on in almost all the games in most of his seasons as a squad player, he isn't marginalized per se.

Why is Pep not showing any interest if he's top quality at a very small price in todays market?

Last season nobody was that bothered about Alexis Sanchez as he was a Barca reject. Pedro is in a similar league to Alexis. Pedro is about 5 foot 5 - same height as Chad Mendes.....but defo he could do a job here......He is something that LVG craves - he's dynamic!!......we have too many forwards currently who have all the skill in the world but who are not dynamic enough

Dont really want to watch any old highlights of Nani tbh Cass. He should have lived up to his potential with us & never seemed to have half the drive Ronnie had.

I dont want to get into this conversation again about Nani's career with us, because it's boring & i'll never change my opinion that he lost all determination & concentration to be a great player many years ago & just settled for an easy life with a fat paycheck..
