Putting it out there as a lot of people in here have spoken about Pedro as if he is already a member of the squad, What happens if we don't actually get him?

If we don't get someone better than him in, then I will loose my shit!

He could end up winning the super cup tomorrow and have a change of heart and stay with Barcelona, hope it doesn't happen but it's still possible.

I think the Neymar situation could prevent us from signing him in this transfer window.

I don't think they'll want to keep him when he doesn't want to be there, I would have thought Barca would have given one of their most loyal players the right to leave for the good of his career.

Maybe it's us delaying the deal, waiting to make sure he's not carrying the mumps virus. Last thing we need is Barca sending biological weapons our way. A certain Fergie quote about Madrid comes to mind...

Really want this one to go through. Good price and a "runner" like him would do wonders for our passing game. Fax the feckers, Woody.

Why? He has a release clause that we can always trigger. Perdo will want to come, as Neymar won't be injured the whole season and it's unlikely he'll get more minutes than last year.

It's just negotiating a better deal and if not we'll end up paying the release like we did with Fellaini and Herrera.

Maybe we're just trying not to sour our relationship with Barca and we aren't triggering it on request until after the Super Cup. Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

He doesn't. It is a gentleman agreement between him and Bartomeu. Anyway, Bartha is a proper club and will respect their oral agreement.

How long is Neymar off? If he is for a long time then Pedor might be tempted to stay, knowing that he'll be a starter there.

It's freaking mumps. How long can that take?

2 weeks is what i've heard.

Hopefully the initial comments regarding Barca wanting him for the game tomorrow are true and they'll let him move on afterwards. Pedro isn't daft and will know that as soon as Neymar is fit he'll be back in the same position he was in before, the one that he's unhappy in.

I'm bored of this now.
Same if the latest tweet is right that we won't be able to get him until after the Spanish super cups I think we should leave him and go after someone else. We need someone bedded in as soon as possible to have a better effect on the team going into the season and champions league.

So what you're saying is...

To the Bale Thread!

If winning the treble didn't convince him he wants to stay i doubt winning the super cup will.

Can people PLEASE stop banging on about his 'release clause' and that we should just pay it to get it done.

His release clause is 130m euros.

He has a 'gentleman's agreement' with the board that of he didn't play x amount of games last season he could be sold for 30m euros.

Even if we offered that, they're under no obligation to say yes.

I'm happy for this to happen but it does feel like the top 4 have fell to the postion of dumping ground for Barca and Real's expendive rejects. Mourinho said as much in the Telegraph this week.

Tbf there rejects are top draw.

The gulf between the quality in their squads and ours is probably greater than it is United to Stoke.

I don't see it changing unless we start seeing more domestic talent being produced.

I also expect United to pull ahead of them financially in the coming years and the other PL teams close the gap so that may help.

for a decent football club especially for barca they should have enough depth to cover for injuries. this is ridiculous for barca to rely on a going-away player to stand by, unless this is just an excuse for more money. if this is really the case, then what barca is going to do after sept 1 if neymar is hitten by bus? inserting a recall clause from the pedro's exit agreement? and also this is a big slap for la masia as well i would say. even for the last reason when saurex was not available in the early season time barca didn't have problem to make it up. so what's the problem being right now?
if this is just about money then barca just need to say unless the release clause is met pedro will go nowhere.

actually as a protocol of football industry, if all parties are agreed of a transfer is imminent, the player should not play anymore. i am not sure if you are aware or not, barca under the bartomeu's administration has lost a lot of decency, hopefully it's not going to be classless at all

I can't even say you're preaching to the converted because I long held the belief that Rosell was going to sink the club from its heights once he was elected - the only difference is that they managed a treble (Sextuple?) owing largely to the addition of the two galacticos in Suarez & Neymar. In the long list of grievances towards this board, the squandering of the cantera is near the top which is illustrated by the fact that they're two best youth wingers have barely played for the 1st team to see what they could offer in Deulofeu & Adama

As for Pedro, this scenario shouldn't be any cause for concern from United fans - if the player wants out, the club typically obliges those requests. The Neymar iillness simply has delayed it but the club will still be in the same position (Once again, pathetic planning) once the Supercups are over - relying on the trident to solve all issues. Even a Nolito reinforcement won't occur until January at the earliest which means Munir & Sandro who are not wingers are going to be alternatives until the winter transfer window.

Unfortunately, the league schedule is conveniently stronger the first half of the season than the 2nd

I believe that Barcelona would oblige the request as they seem a stand up club, whereas if it were Real Madrid with the gentlemen's agreement I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

The Bulgaria international says that the Spain winger should avoid playing for the "bad person" who brought down Barcelona

Hristo Stoichkov has blasted Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal in an attempt to convince Pedroto remain at Barcelona, claiming that the "mediocre" Dutch coach is now "destroying" the Premier League club in the same way he "destroyed" the Catalan outfit.

The Spain international is poised to move to Old Trafford in search of more regular game time, with his first-team opportunities at Camp Nou having been restricted last season by the sensational form of the Blaugrana's front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Pedro is expected to link up with Van Gaal in Manchester after the Supercopa de Espana, with Neymar's contraction of the mumps leading to Barcelona asking the 28-year-old to delay his £22.3 million transfer in order to provide cover the double header with Athletic Bilbao.

However, Bulgarian icon Stoichkov, a five-time La Liga winner and European Cup champion with Barca who fell out out with Van Gaal in 1998, says that Pedro need only look at the way in which former Blaugrana goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been ostracised at Old Trafford to understand how perilous playing under the Dutchman can be.

"I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal," the 49-year-old told Spanish radio Onda Cero. "He's mediocre.

"He destroyed Barca and is destroying Man Utd.

"With what he has done to [Victor] Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn't leave."

This is not the first time Stoichkov has taken aim at Van Gaal as he blames the ex-Barca boss for his Camp Nou exit 17 years ago, branding his former boss as "scum" in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipein March.

"I have no respect for him," Stoichkov added.

"One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her.

"He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d'Or winner.

"My departure in 1998 was the fault of Van Gaal, for sure."

Stoichcov was the nicest person in football than :smirk:

Why not simply state that by the time he left Barcelona he was a bit crap?

Its time for United to move to other targets. This 'gentleman's agreement' crap can derail our transfer strategy.

I assume they have the same agrement like they do a lot at Barca which is the same as Thiago had. Its an actual release clausule which just lowers the 130m to 30m based on playtime. Its just an official agreement and barca cannot stop it, else they would have done it multiple times with multiple players.

Has to be bullshit that he could have a change of heart after the Super Cup

He won it all, a Super Cup wont change anything. Sell him or keep him, i hate Barca and Real. When they buiy palyers, they expect everyone to hand them over, but in return if a players wants to leave, they try to manipulate everything and make it as hard as possible.

I suspect this is the case.

What sort of naive fool would accept a gentlemen's agreement in this day and age, when even contacts barely mean anything?
