The Price of the release clause is just the floor. Of course there is always the possibility to pay more than that which might be the case when more than one Team is interested.

I hope this will completed soon. Somehow I am pretty sure it will be Pedro or no one else in this window.

The club accepts all bids matching the release clause or higher than it. No point bidding couple of Mil above it, rather give it to the player and get him.

Replace Blind with Otamendi and we're looking  all over the park.

Pedro and Memphis should be on their natural sides.

Well he isn't... He is intelligent with his runs in behind though, and will certainly do a better job stretching the play from a wide position than Mata does.

You haven't watched him play.

This and De Gea is irritating as these 'on the edge' transfers reveal a lot of the more speculative habits of football 'journalists'.

How many 'it'll be done in the next few hours' tweets have we had from supposedly reputable writers or sources?

The bloke on sky sports news just showed the LVG clip and then said city have offered more then the release clause.

If there is a release clause what is the point in going over it? Is it just to outbid us? Hilarious little club.
If they have offered more than the said release clause then it could be a power play from them, we are haggling over a few million below the clause and they are showing that they have more money than us and are willing to stump it up and then some for pedro. It's a strategy to make them look like the bigger team.

If we lose him for the sake of a few million, this place will go in to proper meltdown, even worse if we lose him to City.
If we really want him, I dont see why we are dithering.

We've probably said we'll meet it when he's confirmed he wants to join. Sounds like he hasn't done so yet so there's no point placing the bid. I doubt we're actually trying to bargain it's just papers making stories up while it lingers on.

He'd rather not leave Barcelona and come to us that much is clear but he needs to hurry up and decide if he wants to be a key man for us or a bit part for them

perhaps we are not dithering and he is unsure himself?
perhaps barca are saying please stay till the winter window when we can register turan?
perhaps he has other (more attractive) offers?

If the question on "Family Fortunes" was "how would most people describe Pedro?" I guarantee Quick, Rapid or feckingquick would be the top answers.

How good is this guy? I really don't watch a lot of Spanish football, but isn't he a reserve at Barca? How good is he compared to Di Maria?

If he's staying until the winter window then no-one will want him, he will be cup tied in the champions league. I also can't see pedro staying to be Turans replacement as he wants regular first team football himself and won't want to mess up that chance at another club just to wait until Turan can be registered to take his place. If he has more lucrative offers then it shows the move is money orientated, I don't believe he will go for money reasons and will turn City down. He knows we need a RW and will be a regular whereas at City there is the possibility of KDB arriving leaving less spaces for a starting berth.

City should be working on homegrown players and not trying to steal transfers off us, balague seems to think that city have made an offer worth more than the release clause, he is usually pretty reliable in Spanish transfers and just doesn't tweet for the sake of it like our local journos do.

He's not the same sort of player really.

People should stop using the reserve player for Barca thing as if it's some thing to be ashamed of and a sign he isn't good enough for us. The list of players who could force their way into that team is very short. Not saying you're doing that, just saying in general.

i personally think that the player is dragging his heels to see if Barca will come and say that he will get more playing time
In that case, we should set a deadline of our own for Pedro to decide. We cannot be waiting for him to decide till the window closes. If he is unsure even after that, we should move onto our next option.

I think he knows his standing and he is behind Suarez, Messi and Neymar. He'll most players around the world would be behind these players and I don't think Pedro is that naive to think he will be guaranteed playing time. Then when the January window opens they will have Turan and Vidal so pedro is definitely surplus to requirements.

all the players are making the right noises in support of him and his team manager is practically begging him to stay. I wouldnt be surprised if he is having second thoughts.

would have been nice to see a campaign by united players to convince DeGea to stay but hey..

Rio has tried at least.

There's no chance of that, though, as long as Messi, Neymar and Suarez are there. Even if one is injured, he must know that any playing time is superficial and he'll be relegated back to the bench once they're fit.

With us, he'd be a nailed-on first teamer.

 probably right.

In fairness if you watch the end of season player awards from earlier this summer, I think that's exactly what United were trying to do. Pedro certainly seems highly thought of, and that's not surpsing considering how unselfish he generally is as a player; bodes well if he eventually signs.

Yeah, either it's an oversight or he expects them both to cut back in?

Pedro does cut in and so will Memphis but better have them do it from their natural sides. Pedro would be as good on the left fwiw but I don't think Memphis has played on the right much.

I'm slightly concerned I have to be honest as basically it seems the club have done what they can and it's down to Pedro now? And he seems really conflicted and clearly doesn't really want to leave.

Feels similar to last year?

So Man City have bid the actual release clause and Chelsea are also interested..... oh dear -

Manchester City have made a bid to sign Pedro from Barcelona, according to Sky Sports’ Spanish expert Guillem Balague.

Manchester United appeared to be in pole position to land the forward, according to Sky sources, but City have now made a move with champions Chelsea also monitoring the player's situation.

Balague says that United have not yet matched Barca’s £21.4m buy-out clause while City have.

Pedro does not want to leave Barca, but accepts that he may have to go if he wants regular first-team football, Balague says.

Nou Camp technical secretary Robert Fernandez said before Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla in Tbilisi that the Spain international had told him he wanted to move on.

The 28-year-old then came off the bench to score an extra-time winner for Barcelona in a 5-4 thriller against their fellow La Liga side.

Speaking afterwards, Pedro was adamant the situation was not as straightforward as him simply wanting to leave the European champions.

Asked if he wanted to go or not, the winger said: "The answer is no, but it's complicated for many things.

"It's not for money, as has been said - which is another lack of respect. It's a question of continuity, of minutes. I'm an ambitious player. Stay or go, I will always be of this team.

"Robert has made some very unfortunate declarations. I've crossed two words with him and he doesn't know what I've been through at the club to talk like that of me.

"I know who I am and I will always be of Barca. Such people shouldn't speak in this way. I've not said what Robert's said, or at least not how I said it.

"I'm calm, happy and I will always continue giving everything if I continue at this club. Manchester? Yes, there are nice challenges on all sides.

Wow!!! That just about will sum up this whole dwaddling nonsense that the club do. LVG get on a plan and convince this guy he's the man to make us right. Meanwhile Woodward meet the sodding clause.
Can't help but feel he goes to city! And we end the summer with no new signings and it'll be because we couldn't get the right player.

If City are in for him, he'll go there. Better squad currently and he probably knows David Silva and Yaya Toure. Depends, of course, on his starting opportunities there. But replacing Navas with Pedro would be a good move for them in my opinion.
