José Mourinho has spoken directly to Dimitri Payet for a January move to Manchester United. [Le10Sport]

Not sure what to make of this I I'm honest, if Griezmann isnt available in the summer than maybe there is some truth to this rumour? I can't actually find the Le10Sport story but this is what being spouted over the infamous twittor.

Where the hell would he play? And what formation ect...

Take this rumour with a pinch of salt.

Can't see it happening due to the fee West Ham would want for a player who is 30 in March.

Getting rid of Depay and signing Payet would be great.

I don't see why we'd sign him to be honest

Hmm no thanks. He's 30 soon and West Ham would want a stupid fee.

He is probably at the prime of his life and will definitely go downhill from here. Not a player to invest time and money in unless we are going for very short term objectives.

Can't believe he's almost 30, he doesn't look it. So yeah, don't want him if he's likely to decline quickly, especially for the money we will have to pay. We've made too many similar mistakes recently.

I rate him but I feel he's the typical player at a smaller club that excels when he's the main man and the team is build to his strengths. I wouldn't want him here at all. As I have said before, a player in the Mane mould is the type of player that we're crying out for.

I don't really rate him tbh.

Every time I've seen him he spends the entire time cheating to win free kicks.

Don't want him, but he'll probably go though. So clearly playing for a move at the moment.

as a short term option (2/3 years) rotating with Martial this is interesting

Martial and Rashford will play centrally in 18 months surely

I hope he retires at West Ham. Those pathetic pricks wanted the world for him this summer and what do you know? Nobody wanted to pay.

Isnt he essentially a No.10 Mata/Mykhi/Rooney kind of player? no point unless were planning to play 3 no.10s like Chelsea did during the 2000s

He's very overrated. When they were raving about him during the Euro's I felt like I was watching different games. He made the wrong decision time and time again on the ball.

I would take him, he would be fantastic for a few years but I would rather play Martial and get somebody else younger to back him up. Bailey or Gelson Martins will be half the price.

If we could get him for £30m or less I would jump at it, but West ham aren't selling for less than 50 IMO.

If we do sell Rooney and Depay ( maybe in January) then it does leave us a bit light for options on the left hand side.
If Mikhitaryan makes the right side his own and Herrera is now a cm then it also leavea us with 1 number 10 in Mata as well.
I can see the sense in this if it's a reasonable fee.

No thanks. He is a great player and I do think he will improve our team but he's such a short term signing and he may start his decline soon. For the price, I'd rather we go for someone else.

Jesus, almost everyone on here thinks 3 years is a short term solution. It's not like every single signing need to be a life time. I bet the average time a player stays at the same club is no more than 3 years.

Never ceases to amaze me how many people turn their noses up at quality players that we're rumoured to be interested in. Our attack is crap and struggles to score goals, we need to improve it.

If arsed and totally committed, could have a huge impact here. He is a brilliant player, on his day rivals the best in the league. Would be nice to have someone else taking on players with skill regularly and not just Mkhi. His skillset, minus the dives, suit United perfectly.

Rashford, martial are inexperienced, and inconsistent , so would make sense to buy another player like him.. since we need thr goals..

Our attacking options do get rather threadbare with only an injury or two...

Created the most chances in the premierleague this season. Wouldn't say i'd be gutted if we signed him!

But, he is 30 soon so could potentially be 'past it' or very soon if not.

£30m.. no chance. If it was for £15m, it would be worth it as it could help us make a push for top 4 and win EL.

Not a lot of value in this signing. Although if we sold Depay for the same amount I wouldn't be against it.

Nah.

Rashford and Martial are even struggling to get in. Signing Payet will push them further back

In the league or for West Ham? He had a very late start to the season so that's very impressive

Next years Vardy minus the league medal.

Spoken like a true person that's barely watched Payet play. Fantastic in France, very good international tournament under his belt and was absolutely incredible for West Ham last season. He's having yet another good season but it's a struggle under a West Ham side who have been awful in parts this season, he's dragged this team to a draw or win countless times since he's been there. Not even comparable to Vardy in any way, shape or form.

It's an absolute bullshit rumour IMO but I'd take him all day long.

He is great and would walk into our starting lineup. He still creates a lot of chances for his teammates and leads statistcs in key passes. But like already mentioned he would be a short term solution.
