The DOF wouldn't be theds to discuss just Lukaku. Lukaku and his agent have been talking and agreed with Juventus already so the DoF will be over sorting out the swap and the structure involved, ie how much money we give as well.

If Dybala has zero interest in moving then the deal would be a non starter. His agent heard the proposal from United, conveyed it to Dybala and has probably been informed its acceptable. So next day DoF flys in to conclude the talks for both players, pending final approval from Dybala on his decision.

People are so used to us being a second or third fiddle and playing Lingard, that even when Juventus’ DoF flies in himself to talks with Woodward, they still think there could be no deal. Unbelievable attitude.

It’s hard to even imagine a more concrete fact supporting the transfer than today’s meeting in England

Well, an advantage to that is if he does indeed flop, he'll be willing to move on rather than stink up the bench and become dross. Unfortunately, some of the players we've signed who do want to be here are doing just that.

Why would he take a wage decrease? Makes no sense for a player just about to hit his prime. Also it’s not his salary that’s a hindrance to other clubs. It’s his transfer fee. He is valued more than Lukaku and no one is willing to pay that straight up.

If the same outlet says we are definitely going to sign player X then literally everyone gets skeptical and question how would they know but if the same outlet says that player isn’t joining us then somehow everyone is on board the pessimistic train and you agree with the source? Everyone knows this is going to be settled only on Thursday so let’s wait it out till then.
 
Dybala is obviously willing to join United if his agent has made the effort to fly over to England for negotiations. Juve's DoF Paratici also flying over, could mean the deal is more advanced than first reported by our media in England.
 
I think he's willing to join, but wage demands might be a stumbling block.

The sooner this gets decided one way or another the better, feels like it's been going on for ages but its only been a few days :lol:

He wants 275k per week which is reasonable for a player like him and a club like ours.
 
This is a big test for the club and the ability to conduct business and show that we are an attractive prospect for players getting close to their prime. I would have believed that the prospect of reuniting with Pogba would be attractive for Dybala so I'm questioning pogbas future at United.

Juventus & United have good relations and a positive track record. That's all I can rely on and it’s enough for me. Signs point to it as well with their DOF having flown into town. Please please please let it be!

Even the fact that we are swapping Lukaku who won't even be in our starting eleven, for Dybala, who will replace Lingard from our starting eleven, is thought as most on here as a bad idea and a square peg in a round hole, shows how damaged most people here are. They also couldn't digest the fact that a world class player would take more than 2-3 days to consider his options before moving to us, when we are obviously a downgrade in footballing terms, and started to think he is going to be the next Di Maria or Sanchez. It's such a sad and toxic way of thinking, but that's what this forum is nowadays.

There are plenty of stories out there currently saying everything is agreed between United and Juve for Lukaku but Dybala doesn't want to come here.

I think his wages price him out of most clubs. They would break most clubs wage structure and cause angst in-house.

If he is really up for coming then get him.

If he is not then don’t touch him.

It’s really that simple and down to his motivation. The real issue is we have far more pressing positions need looking at. I’d rather we were looking at a wide right player and a defensive midfielder.

I'd imagine the negotiations you're referring to are due diligence on the part of his agent in case his position at Juventus becomes completely untenable and he has no other choice but to join us ala Di Maria. It would also give his camp a clearer idea of Dybala's real market value for any other clubs who decide to join the fray in the sense that they can say "United are offering [X] so we'd like you to either match or improve on that offer" ala Sergio Ramos and the other laundry list of players and clubs who have invoked our name to get better contracts/deals elsewhere. Dybala himself wouldn't even come into it until the latter stages of the transfer so your logic is pretty flawed here. That's not to say this report isn't bullshit, it's just something to keep in mind. Personally I've always felt that he doesn't really want to join us for example but it is what it is.

Nope. Not to “make it worthwhile”, just for a pay raise because he’s currently getting paid below his worth from when he signed his current contract to the player he’s now become.

All the reports linking him to us so far are from top tier credible sources. The one’s saying he doesn’t want to come here are from shit tier “journalists”, continuing their shit work, trying to generate clicks - which no credible reporter has mentioned.

Just calling a spade a spade. It’s the facts.

If that’s what you feel that’s cool. Just against people talking as if they know for certain he doesn’t want in because they’re speaking out of their you know what.

I’m just going by the signs and credible reports. Juvé’s DOF even flew into town. Not a fan of all this pessimistic gossip people are throwing out there. And I’ll call a spade a spade if it comes that he doesn’t want in. But that hasn’t happened yet and all signs *so far* point to him on his way out.
 
What's the problem with wanting a 30 percent pay increase? Does not make him a mercenary. It also doesn't mean he doesn't want to be here. Hes heading into his prime, is an A grade footballer and should be paid accordingly.

Daniel James and AWB quadrupled their salaries (dont know exact figure)- I dont see them as mercenarys.

A good friend of mine recently took a wage cut because the new position offered an easier commute and an improved work/life balance so it's not unheard of. Hell even Zlatan has spoken openly about turning down bigger offers and taking a wage cut to move to LA because he's reached a stage where his basic wage doesn't particularly matter to him.

I can’t believe you’re comparing a friend who did that for a more comfortable life balance to Dybala which would obviously not be as comfortable as living in Italy. And Zlatan? Yea, he only just re-signed with LA to become the highest paid MLS player ever...
 
At the start of summer everyone is saying "we need to sign hungry players who want to be here and stop signing players who only come for the money."

Then, despite there being reports that not only does Dybala not want to leave Juventus, but he never had any illusions to play in the Premier League as it doesn't suit his style, he'd rather play for PSG or the Spanish clubs, and that he'll only come if we offer astronomical sums of money, some fans are still desperate that he joins.

Words fail me. Really hoping this falls through. The exact kind of transfer that has got us in this mess in the first place.
