Paulo Dybala

No. I'd rather get straight cash for Lukaku and spend the money elsewhere.

Dybala is a luxury player. We aren't in a position or league where you can accommodate such players.
After Maguire, we need to sort out our defensive midfield situation and then our attack. Dybala would be sorting out that attack and I genuinely believe he can have an Aguero level impact on us, become a genuine world class player here like he was on his way to being at Juve before Ronaldo arrived. We'd have a player versatile enough to balance out Rashford and Martial in multiple different set ups, and throughout the game give us that flexibility to fill in 1 of 2 positions of need depending on formation while giving us the goals that that front 3 lacks.

How is he a luxury player?

Because he's one of those that likes to float in that false 9 position. Not sure how he'd fit into the press Olé's trying to introduce.

If even Martial is starting to up his work-rate drastically, I'm sure Dybala will follow suit, but I don't think that will be a problem.

He'll press when we loose the ball, drop in when we're defending and float while we are attacking.

A position doesn't make a luxury player, the way Dybala plays means that he thrives when he isn't a luxury player, when he is integral to the system.

If Martial can do it, why cant Dybala?

I doubt he will play as a false 9 in all games, most likely a RWF in 433 or in a 10 or RW in 4231. False 9 is for occasional circumstances.

I'm really not sure how swapping Lukaku a player who doesn't fit into Ole's system for potentially Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandžukić can be considered a 'shitshow' but okay.

I am not sure how you managed to insert Mandzukic in Lukaku Dybala swapping deal in Dybala thread and have a laugh before that. It clear why its a shitshow when it comes to discussion you know, in Dybala thread.

On a scale of 4-26, what are the chances of this deal actually going through? Your answer cannot include a number.

Imagine him playing the Lingard role. Better quality. It's an upgrade.

For what purpose though? Please don't say FFP.

Assets in the balance sheet: plant, machinery, buildings et al are depreciated over the "reasonable" lifetime of the asset. In football this will be the length of contract, in the real world it's based on financial reporting guidelines of the assets.

This is to support business' with their cashflow by spreading the tax liabilities and also represent more realistic balance sheet values. A crane for example while paid for in year 1, will be used over 15 years, so each year needs to take a fair share of the costs.

Sales are immediately disclosed to stop tax dodging.

Juve will have sold 85 million and bought only 16 million (for example). The liability still exists in theory but not on the balance sheet.

I can't tell you what Juve is thinking exactly, but these practises are normal in financial accounts departments.

Juventus want him gone, he cannot stay.
I know you're not saying this - doesn't mean we should chuck £10m per season at him, £13m at his agent when he clearly doesn't want to leave and doesn't want to come here. It's getting a player who won't try his best and probably give up when things get tough

Honestly don't want the guy if he doesn't want to come here, no matter how good he might be.

He wants to stay at Juventus. He may still hold in us high regard despite that. He wont sit around and waste his career because he has to leave Juventus.

Very debatable that martial can do it

Ok but Dybala can play as a false 9.

Is there any actual substance in these ‘waiting for PSG offer’ reports? I’d be somewhat cautious if he’s hoping a team like that will come in and take him if that is true. It’d be another potential ADM scenario.

What’s wrong with Berbatov having an opinion?

I’m saying this guy is a pioneer of how football intelligence can handle the English game despite the physical prowess yet he’s questioning the same thing.

Berbatov doesn’t even have the dynamism or speed that Dybala had yet is a fantastic striker. It’s just weird to hear it coming from him.

I get that, I just think we've made a few mistakes recently with players not wanting to play for us but the club wanted rid (eg. Di Maria) and they just didn't work out and cost us a fortune in the end.

I simply want players that really want to come here that's all - don't get the feeling he does

If he doesn't agree to join then we should try and do some type of deal that includes Costa + another player or cash for lukaku because no way can we go into the season with that unprofessional twat and it's not like inter will come up with a credible offer

Costa is a dead duck. Only option might be mandzukic, and 60m. That honestly leaves us in a shit show

The stumbling block right now is probably related to him dropping that corny goal celebration of his.

Just picture it, Dybala doing his celebration in the middle, Pogba dabbing on one side of him, Lingard dancing on the other.

Got it and good point.

Still worth listening to his insight given how smart his footballing intelligence was.

I would be so annoyed if we signed Dybala and he turned into another Veron, Berbatov or Sanchez : ie not suiting this league or our team set up

Surprised by this outdated thinking by the great Berba.

Dybala is ‘small’ but Fellaini is playing in China now for a reason. He’s centre of gravity & quick feet will be an advantage.

Also, David Silva is 173cm whereas Dybala is 177cm; if signed he may or may not succeed but his ‘physicality’ shouldn’t be the reason.

Physicality just doesn’t mean size, it’s also strength and the time a player has on the ball. It’s a very hard thing to judge whether a player will adapt but I do agree Dybala could well be a success but the 2 leagues are very, very different. I’ve said it before, Dybala needs to play centrally if he’s to be a success.

We need Dybala so badly judging from the Milan game.

Cannot put together a single threatening move with Mata and Lingard playing the 10.

When teams sit back, we just don’t have any ideas.
