Paulo Dybala

My point remains: Bruno at 8 and Dybala at false 9 doesn’t work. And where does Pogba fit in to that?!

4231 false 9 up top, like this:

False 9 season incoming

Lukaku’s value is at least 50 m. We can get that in cash from Inter.
But we need to spend that money anyway to get a replacement for him. So get 50-60m and then scramble with less than a week and get a mediocre #9 or get a potentially world class player with no hassle in return with the deal?

If you watched after Ole took over, he’d start with a front 3, but Lingard would play centrally, drop back a bit and mark the 6 when on defense. Going forward onthe break, both Rashford and Martial would run the channels and try to get behind the defense. When tea sat back, Lingard had free range to find space. Dybala would take that role.

Exactly this.

I struggle to see how Pogba, Bruno and Dybala all play in the same team. It looks attractive on paper with Martial and. Rashford as wide forwards but feels like overkill. OGS is planning for Pereira and McTominay to each play 20+ games too.

Especially if we are after Sancho next year.

4-4-2 diamond or 4-3-2-1

I don’t think they can all play in the same team. Someone drops to the bench as @RDCR07 has outlined and which works for me.

McTominay Bruno Pogba
Dybala
Rashford Martial

will get destroyed by top teams. No where near enough defensive nous to contain Liverpool or City.

You’ll get murdered in here for suggesting Pogba in a midfield two.

Why? It’s where he plays for us and every game this preseason.

It’s even where he plays for France. Some people are clueless ffs hahah

It will never ever work with McTominay or Matic as his partner in the midfield 2. We need a better DM for that.

From an article 2 years ago

According to the report, a tug-of-war took place between the club and Dybala over image rights management, with Juventus wanting 100% control which was rejected in the first instance. It seems this this has now been resolved with Dybala compromising and agreeing to a joint-operation of sorts with at least some portion of image rights being controlled by the club.

He said this on a podcast earlier today and has since said on twitter Dybala is focused on the United offer

Excellent way to cover his bases. But if he reckons Dybala stays at Juve its worrying.. Unless he reckons Dybala will start next week as a Juve player but it won't last long :wenger:

It isn't over kill, we need as many technical players on the pitch at once as possible, and Pogba, Dybala and Bruno can play in the same team. Pogba as an 8, Dybala as a false 9, Bruno as an 8/10, with McTominay behind as a no.6/8. We need a set piece expert like Bruno to ping free kicks and corners onto Maguire's head.

Somehow City manage to fit the two Silvas, De Bruyne and Gundogan in their side on occasion. So it’s really all about getting the system right.

I'm starting to believe this might happen.

Dybala replacing Lingard in the team sounds like a massive improvement to me.

I'm kind of amazed at how determined Juventus seem to get rid of Dybala. He's a top class player who seemingly really wants to stay at the club. He's not on crazy money like Bale at Madrid and I've never seen anything to suggest he's not popular with the fans and his teammates. He's not injury prone. He's not old. I don't get why they are behaving this way.

I think they can, we have already improved our defence with a RB and CB, and Bruno can successfully play as a 8 with good defensive nous too, while we will press from the front as a group which is Way of defending proactively.

Also teams are not just built to play city or Liverpool in the league but to score goals and attack, changes can be made for certain occasions.

4-2-3-1 is just an approximation. It can be very different from game to game.

We will be defending in 4-5-1. When attacking, we will keep 3 at the back. We have excellent defensive fullbacks. IN the real world, we can do a lot more things than FM settings allow Having Bruno instead Dybala makes more sense in terms if flexibility.

The bigger problem is that Dybala is not an out and out striker, and we can’t push wide forwards/midfielders too far. No goal scorer.

 "Homer drooling"

Not even homer.

Because it’s literally what Ole has implemented (the formation) and he himself has said where Dybala would play in the past.

Just going off that exactly that so it’s what we’d most likely see and not even some sort of hypothetical.

Sorry boss but ive never played FM ...

I think Dybala will be a huge hit if we can get this deal over the line. We're finally looking like we're setting up on the front foot and I feel that will get the best out of this squad of attacking talent. Add one of the best technical footballers on the planet to that and a depth of youngsters coming through, and we finally look like we're taking steps in the right direction.

I can't help but agree with you. It smells fishy. However sometimes a manager just doesn't fancy a player. Let's hope it's that.

Dybala for Lukaku is too good to be true, but sometimes strange things happen in life

I was saying thats what he thought about 3/4 hours ago when that podcast being referenced was published

He since seemed to have changed his tune

Fair enough. In your mind, how does that team contain City’s ping ball merry go round? How do we win the midfield battle ?

Yeah but they do so with Fernandinho. We have Matic.

It must be FFP related, plus a strong preference of the coach, who probably negotiated it as a requirement when he was hired.

I agree we need a dynamic, mobile DM. But that’s the case whether or not we sign Dybala.

Did they field that as a starting XI last season?

Pogba will always struggle in a midfield 2 when he is expected to create everything by himself in a restricting style of play. Our dynamic is changing.

Yes but we also didn’t play with so many offensively minded and defensively shy players as we would with Pogba, Bruno and Dybala etc in same team.
Attack is the 1st form of defence. We've also got a way better back 4 now, also consider most of our opponents attacks came down our right side... That ain't happening with AWB there.
