Paulo Dybala

I'd say Jose is more thinking along the lines of Soler with Perreira going the other way. Maybe add Pulisic and Tierney over the summer and Jose will have finished his rebuild
----------Matic---Soler-----------
Pulisic-----Pogba-------Rashford
----------------Lukaku

That’d be great business for us but I don’t think our rebuild will be complete. We have more pressing concerns than our attack which is our fullbacks. All our options aren’t good enough to be first choice options for a team with our aspirations

It’s why I hope we do some business in Jan as I don’t see us making that many signings in one window

I don't think signing Dybala is completely outrageous. We're in bed with Raiola so stranger things happened.

The only problem is, regardless of how good he is, will he fit us and improve us? Probably not.

Raiola is not Dybala's agent. He was talking in an interview on an Italian TV show. He's not in any position to know what Dybala will or will not do.

From the Griezmann thread:
I was certain we were going to sign him this summer, but I’m not so sure now. I also have gone off the idea of signing him, I’m not sure he’s the right fit.

So in the spirit of things..to the Dybala thread!

From Dybala thread 1 minute later:
Screw Griezmann, sign Dybala.

Brilliant @ovoxo

I would rather Dybala than Griezmann.

Don't think it's very likely though.

I think there is a real chance Dybala could win the balon dor one day - hes that good

One of his best positions seems to be behind a main striker which is a position we seem to struggle with and he is certainly better than mata / miki there - so yeah he would fit in with our game and he would improve us... sadly I think he could also fit in at Barca, Real, Psg etc so will he consider moving to Manchester - probably not

I take dybala over griezmann anytime...lets see what will happen, though I think jose will go for a more of a traditional winger

Tierney in summer and

Kieren Tierney in summer and Fosu Mensah back then too and we're sorted. Rose is possibly first choice but Spurs may decide he stays

Not an ounce of sarcasm in that post mate
The quotation marks made it look that way. But why would you say that? We already have a young promising squad and those three positions are probably the largest holes in the squad. If he can get the team playing really well and winning, then I think the 'rebuilding' is close to completion. What remains imo is replacing the ageing players with younger players.

Chelsea seems like maybe the best footballing fit I can think of. He could play as a 10 in front of Kante and Bakayoko or in a front 3 on the right with Hazard on the left and Morata up top.

If he would come to United, purely for age reasons he makes more sense than Griezmann. I think he's a bit better at retaining possession in tight spaces than Griezmann, and a left footed playmaker is a good fit with Martial, Rashford and Lukaku going forward.

I'd be very surprised if Chelsea spends that amount of money. But it would surely be interesting to see if/how Dybala & Hazard (who likes to operate from the middle and the right flank as well) would complement each other.

Scary team.

I was thinking about Neymar Dybala Mbappe and now they mention Hazard Morata Dybala.
:nervous:

We desperately need quality, goals and creativity. Dybala checks all boxes.

Also Dybala>Griezmann for me

Dybala is either world class or near world class and would improve any team. The only problem with Dybala is he is likely to be too expensive. Manchester United have a poor squad with way too many holes in it, for example, we don't have proper wingers or fullbacks and we need another quality CM and AM. Recent history suggests that Manchester United's transfer budget is around 150m per season. Dybala would likely cost 120m to 150m so that is pretty much our entire transfer budget spent on one player. Dybala would be a fantastic signing and improve our team, however, we desperately need proper fullbacks and a winger before we can even consider a support striker or #10. Buying Dybala would be like buying an expensive marble flooring and granite bench when you haven't fixed the hole in the roof and rotten foundations. For the price of Dybala, you could probably get Thomas Meunier, Fekir and Leon Bailey with money left over for a decent left-back or paying Jonathan Tah's release clause.

If the Glazers are willing to significantly increase the transfer budget then Dybala and other superstars could be considered but until then United should fix the foundations and the roof and stop drooling over the granite benchtops and Italian marble flooring as it's outside our budget.

We need to start making cheap signings to balance the expensive ones, don't think its a Jose specialty though.

This is spot on but think Jose might go back in for Griezmann and a winger a left back then possibly pick up Barkley and Ozil on a free.

That would be in line with his four a season if he buys in January maybe 1.

He didn't exactly give us or the PL a glowing review when we bought Pogba, not likely that he will come.

RM are probably in contention seeing as Ronaldo is on a downward trajectory.

Doesn't help when we give out the kind of wages Lingard got. He's homegrown, a squad player, and isn't being sought after by other big clubs yet we give him wages that some star players at clubs like Spurs don't get. Apart from wages we tend to sell off our players for cheap. Club is very good at making money, but not so much with wages and selling players off.

Will surely go to Spain, Barca or Real Madrid.

Still to break through for Argentina of course.

Doubtful whether he'll even start in World cup as Messi and Aguero could well be the starting combination. Personally I'd give him number 10 role and play Messi as false 9 as he's the only one who can actually finish for Argentina, the rest just hit the keeper when one-on-one.

Dybala is lovely to watch though.

Dybala would have to be 2 feet taller and wider for a Jose team. He has no time for midgets. I actually believe that he'd turn his nose up at Messi. Big and athletic is the demography.

This is such a nonsense myth. Hazard, Modric, Fabregas, Pedro, Herrera, Mata, Marcelo etc. the list goes on. All those players are hardly giants. Although he has a preference for size, claiming you need to be tall to play for him is wrong. If Dybala was available he'd snap your arm off for him.

I'd have no problem with Tierney. The lad(individually) did not look out of place in the champions league. With better players, one would imagine he'd be even better

Man it's funny you say this I rewatched the Ronaldo doc last week and to see him with us all them years ago and now the difference is frightening.
Nobody is doubting he's not still world class but the loss of pace and power is so obvious it's not even a debate. It's actually a little sad to think we only have a few years of him left. Then it will be like listening to the auld fellas raving on about seeing Best in his prime. Only it will be us going on about Ronaldo.

Out of the players you've quoted there, Hazard, Modric, Pedro, Herrera, Mata would be similar to Dybala in 'big and strappingness', I'm pretty sure Jose didn't sign all of these

He signed Pedro, Modric and also Mkhitaryan, Fabregas who aren't much taller than Dybala.

He's more expensive than griezmann and i dont think he'd play on same level in epl. Griezmann for me.
