This is a dream I hope for if we get him.

Offload Mkhi (please), Darmian, Blind ?, Romero, for all 4 of them we should get approx 100m? ~ + some monies and bingo bango, Hello Dybala.

Would be the next player I get on my Utd kit since Ronaldo. If not then I'll have to get Pogba, although if we dont win anything soon I question how long Pogba will stay....
Put the crack pipe down, Lad.

I see you are getting laughed at but I think we could push for £80m, so £100m isn't too far wrong.

Mkhitaryan £20m
Blind £15m
Darmian £15m
I think we could demand a high fee for Romero, as he is clearly a top, tried and tested keeper. Apparently he has offers from Premier League clubs. If he was being sold to a PL club I'd demand £30m. Pickford went for £30m so that sets the price.

In a world where Jordan Ibe is being sold for £15m, and since then fees have went up another level, so those fees are in the correct region.

£30m for Romero. Noone is going to pay that you loon. He is also 30, as opposed to Pickford who is 23 (so Everton can get at least 10 years out of him).

Blind at 15m and Mkhitaryan for 20m maybe, but doubt they could actually be sold for that, especially if you take into account which clubs could afford their wages in addition to a hefty fee. Darmian at 15m - also not likely. Realistically you would be looking at getting 5 for Romero, 18 for Mkhi, and 10 each for Darmian and Blind, assuming you could sell them at all. So would be hard to get 50m, let alone 100m.

To be fair, Romero could go for a decent fee. Other prem clubs are in for him and if Pickford can cost £30m, I reckon we could get 40m+ for him. We could easily sell the rest for at least 15m in this market.

Since when was 30 old for a keeper?
He could play top level for another 6/8 years.

Which club/set of absolute mugs do you think would offer 30m for him?

Bear in mind he hasn't even been first choice for a top club. Closest he came was Sampdoria, who are not huge.

£5m for Romero?

I'll put a bet on with you right now he goes for more than that.

Good lord!

There are less than 5 keepers in world football that I’d imagine would cost £40m+. Our back-up keeper isn’t amongst them.

I'm not going to start guessing what clubs have bid for him but he has confirmed he has offers from PL clubs. Transfer fees have just gone crazy and PL clubs do splash cash. Romero is a top international keeper and he has proved himself every time he was called upon at United. He is the best 2nd goal keeper around and could play first team for 6/8/10 years. He will definitely go for over £20m.

£5m for Romero would be a disaster. Begovic was sold for double that and he was a lot lot worse for Chelsea than Romero has been for us.

Not happening.

The three premier league clubs I can think of who might be interested are Palace, Watford and Newcastle. They won't be paying 20m for a keeper.

People can’t have it both ways. Whenever we are reported to pay more than 50p for any sub, the amount of games they have played is dragged up. ‘Why pay x for a player who has played only 1234 minutes?’ Or a ‘benchwarmer’.

We will not be getting £40m+ for our sub-goalie. In fact, we won’t get £40m for any of our subs in any position.

If you can have a Virgil for not less than 75mil, I assume that paying 150mil for Dybala sounds about right

He was on a free right? Apart from Argentina he is mostly a career 2nd choice keeper. Would be hard pressed to get £10M let alone £30M even in this market.

It doesn't matter if he was free. Being free does not affect his resale value, it was just good business by LVG. He is an international goal keeper and proved himself as being able to be first choice, the problem is he is behind the best goal keeper in the world in De Gea.

I will bet you €100 now that if Romero goes this winter or summer it wont be for £30M

We obviously won’t get 30m for Romero but if I needed a keeper I’d be happy to pay decent money for him. Think he’s looked very assured and not the error prone madman I was expecting. Would take him over at least 12-13 keepers in the league

If he goes no more than £10M
There's the PL factor to consider here though. Most PL clubs are loaded and run by fecking morons who have no clue. Wouldn't surprise me to see someone splash £30m on him

Hopefully  I'd say £10-£12m

£30m for Romero

surely you don't mean 100m in pounds?

Whilst 30m seem on the high side, Chelsea sold Begovic for 11m a few months ago.

So 20m or so is not unrealistic.

30m for Romero, honestly what drugs do people use around here

15m absolute max. More likely around 10-12m. He’s a second choice keeper ffs.

The begovic deal is the benchmark, yeah. I can’t see him going for much more than that.

You can argue the market has further inflated since the summer. I won't be too surprised if we get 15m for him.

@septic
Any other keeper in the world would be second choice at Utd.
Romero will join a club to be their number 1, they wouldn't be buying a number 2 keeper.

Second choice for the team that has the best goalkeeper in the world. Isn’t he first choice for the national team?

There's plenty of #1 keepers who are no worse than Romero

@giorno
Romero has been fantastic for us, I can't remember his last mistake and pulls fantastic saves out of the bag.
All for a top club like Utd and the pressure pit Argentina side.
Well done to those other keepers but they don't come with the guarantee of not folding under pressure like Romero.
He gets down for shots, comes for crosses, never makes a mistake.
All Im saying is dismissing him as a number 2 is way out of line.
How far down the league do you need to go to have a keeper that you would categorically choose over him? Cech? Loris makes a lot of mistakes? Pickford? Gomes? Forster? Liverpools number 1...
You could pick one or two and make an argument but there wouldn't be much in it.

You've seen a very small sample of him. The truth is he's not much better than your average gk. You could find plenty of keepers on a similar level in Italy or Germany or Spain. None of whom would cost more than £15m...

Begovic is no benchmark. He is a goalkeeper who has excelled as a regular in the league before. Why not say ‘Chelsea sold a sub Cêch for £10m so with inflation....’

Romero has barely proven himself as a regular goalkeeper at all. He’s been in England 3 years and is nowhere near as PL proven as Begovic. Romero probably hasn’t played 10 games in this league.

We will get nowhere near £30m, and we would struggle to get that for any single sub in our squad, let alone the keeper who never plays in the league.

Pretty sure I also said £30m was a ridiculous amount.

In what universe do we get anywhere near that amount

Darmian 15 max
Blind 15 max
Mkhi 25 max
Romero 10 max

I make it 65 million maximum we’d get. There’s absolutely no chance we will get anywhere near 100 million
