Paulo Dybala

Ehh he's Argentinian, South Americans generally look at Madrid and Barca as the pinnacle of their careers.

if we bought him and I highly doubt we will, he'd probably want to move to Spain within 4 years.

Maybe, maybe not. Aguero seems to be enjoying England.

And even if that was the case, if he gives us 4 great years and we sill him for a profit, so be it.

Where did we purchase Pogba from again?
Whilst I don't think this transfer will happen, this point is wrong. Juve have always been the type of club that would sell a player if they wanted to leave, they've said and shown as much multiple times. If a player doesn't want to be there, you pay what Juve want and he's off, no problems.
Juve always sell at the right price, from Zidane to Pogba, if you offer enough they’ll let them leave.

I do agree it’ll take a huge fee to make it happen.

^A combination of these.

Considering Dybala’s poor form and personal+team issues, his stock has fallen and Juvé won’t get the premium return they once would have unless they hold on to him and he rounds back to form but then again what are the odds of that with Dybala reportedly unhappy to be there.

I would pay at most £100M upfront for Dybala. If there’s competition/a bidding war with another team or 2, add ons to make it potentially £120M and no more than that. Would help secure him by offering more money and the £20M would only be given in full if he plays and produces at a world class level in which case would be very worth it. Considering the transfer market and the extra United have to pay, £120M (£100M, at least initially) would be a bargain imo. That’d still be cheaper than what Barca paid for Dembele and what they will inevitably pay for Coutinho...for comparison sake, that’s as great of a deal/fee United can get out in the market and definitely bang-for-buck worthy.

Poor form? He's got 14 goals in 18 games. He's worth more than £120m in todays market, which is a sentence I feel mildly sick writing as no one is worth that much really.

This could be nice next season. Plenty of pace power and skill. Hope the one Jose spoke about splashing the cash on would be him.

I like it!

Although Sessegnon wouldn’t probably start immediately, would he?

While I'm a huge fan of Savic, that's an unbalanced midfield. It'd just be another case of Herrera and Matic, both players doing the same thing, only Pogba is just better than Savic. Ideally we'd need someone who can play that DLP role, like a Kroos.

I'd go for :

Lukaku
Martial Dybala (Rashford, Lingard, Mata)
Pogba Matic (Carrick ?, Fellaini, Mctomminay, Pereira, Herrera)
Weighl
Shaw (new signing) Lindelof Bailly Valencia (new signing)
DDG

Weighl would be very costly, but so would Savic tbf.

I can see your point but I compiled that lineup based on those with whom we've been strongly linked throughout the season. There were murmurs of Weigl but Dybala SMS and Sessegnon would be a fantastic summer.

Dybala would cost probably £130m and Savic has been quoted at around £100m. I don't think we can sign both along with a quality left-back.

Yea fair enough pal.

While I'd usually agree, I wouldn't be surprised to see us sell a few players in Jan and in the summer, freeing up some wages and money.

Yeah I don’t really understand the argument “he will want to go to Real/Barca later”.

You’re telling me that if you had the option to sign young C. Ronaldo again, you wouldn’t because he’d want to leave for Real after?

If Dybala came here and we won titles or CLs with him as the fulcrum of the team, we’ll be singing songs about him even 10 years after his move to Real/Barca. Like we’ve done with Ronaldo

I think Milinkovic-Savic is a greater attacking threat than Herrera, that midfield could work well imo. The only problem I have with it is perhaps needing another playmaker.

Aguero is obviously getting ridiculous money/brown envelopes like most of their decent players. Wtf would anyone of his stature have gone there when he did?

Ronaldo songs are embarrassing unless you started supporting the club this century - even then.....

I would want to keep him a hell of a lot longer than that. He's a special talent.

I'm also tired of dealing with players who think Spain is the pinnacle of their career. It was so refreshing to see Pogba say no to Madrid and come here instead.

I’d rather Jessi than Lukaku at the moment.

Sandro instead of Sessegnon and another RB instead of Tony.

Same here - not just for now, but in the long term scheme as well - unless he's superseded by someone who's qualitatively better whilst offering similar attributes (particularly off the ball and in terms of sacrificing a bit of his game for the greater good). Lingard for the Pedro role in the front three as a supporting inside forward - attacking inside forward or mobile center forward, and Dybala as the false 9 or right attacking inside forward - depending on the configuration as no one would spend 90 minutes in specific zones. The presence of Lukaku might inhibit some of the key features of the dynamic and interchangeable trio - a wee bit like Ibrahimović at Barcelona in that the tactics would not be optimized to his strengths.

Not a typical Mourinho setup, though - more of a thought experiment. Could be exceptional if Pogba is partnered with a consummate passer in the midfield three - just ahead of a holder.

Precisely my thinking. Said as much in another thread, Jessi is here to stay for me. It’s not so much about the quality of the player as it is about the qualities of the player in his case. He has both anyway, but the penetration he offers is unique and should not be tampered with. Jessi, Martial and Dybala would make us an actual footballing side.

‘Death to crosses’ has been my mantra for years anyway. Seems United are the only remaining top side so heavily reliant on them, and it just smacks of a lack of ideas.

within 2. dude has quotes saying "if barca wanted him, he would swim there"

If Dybala really wants to go to Spain, he would do that directly. It would make no sense to move to another super club first and spend 3-4 prime years there.

Unless he's biding his time, while Barca and Real create the need for him. Their superstars will be retiring (moving on) in the next 2-3 years.

I would be amazed if Benzema lasts another 2-3 years.

Don't see why he'd come to us when 3 attacking spots at Madrid could possibly be opening up soon.

That's hardly a like for like replacement. They might try and go for Kane.
Kane would be perfect for Madrid. His hold up play and technical ability is around Benzema's level, but with an additional 15/20 goals a season. I'd be surprised if Madrid moved for Dybala before Kane.

If we could sign him its a no-brainer to me. I dont care if he will want to move next season; its not so simple

If we sign him the fee will be fairly prohibitive to a move on anytime soon, I'd expect we'd put him on a 6 year contract like Pogba.

I think Madrid will move for Kane in a year or two. I don't believe Kane will leave before spending a year in the new stadium.

I think the club who recruited Owen, Bale and Beckham in the past will target Kane soon :)

Really hope he will be one of our big summer signings. This is the calibre of player we need to be bringing in to compete with the best teams.

This. I think they will sign him this summer probably. €150m+

Unattainable currently, even at £200m.

Agreed. I would love to see United move for him one day but with Spurs position on selling to rivals and the fee it will take (world record - no question), I can’t see us pulling it off. We just don’t do things like that. Real do.

Dybala will cost a similar fee to Coutinho which looks to be around €150m.

Do we see United spending that sort of money on a Player?

Him and Griezmann and suddenly we have actual quality in attack.

The caf and our favourite ‘why not sign both?’ suggestion.

I can’t see how we would, could or should sign both Griezmann and Dybala.

We need two attacking additions and they should be the first and second best attackers we have.

This is a dream I hope for if we get him.

Offload Mkhi (please), Darmian, Blind ?, Romero, for all 4 of them we should get approx 100m? ~ + some monies and bingo bango, Hello Dybala.

Would be the next player I get on my Utd kit since Ronaldo. If not then I'll have to get Pogba, although if we dont win anything soon I question how long Pogba will stay....

If we don't win anything soon?

Did he not win two cups with us last season?

We are still in a rebuilding face and Mourinho is not done getting the squad exactly like he wants it, barring this Man City freak season we would be challenging for the PL title

Would love to see Dybala join us next summer though

Half of that would be more realistic :)
