Paulinho set to trigger Premier League bidding war

Is this one of those scenarios where we look back in 6 months time and add another midfielder to the list we should have signed?

Probably, either that or in a season or two we'll be talking about launching a 30m bid for him.

If bigger teams show interest then he wont be going to Spurs.

Not necessarily, Paulinho has already turned down Inter last season.

I won't be confident we've signed him till he's standing next to AVB with the shirt but, especially in a world cup year, there will be various considerations in play.

Plus, I doubt too many clubs make decisions to spend 17 million based on a 5 game basis for the international team.

Maybe theres something i am not seeing but he would be a lot better buy then Strootman, granted, i have only see them both 6 times a piece. Maybe Strootman has a higher ceiling?

That said, if we were to miss out on Thiago we would be crazy not to buy him given what is available.

He obviously waiting for a better team than Spurs to come in for him otherwise he wont be so coy about it.

A lot of reports on twitter that Corinthians chairman has confirmed he's Spurs-bound.

Very good move for Spurs. Midfield 3 of sandro, paulinho, dembele?

Sounds like he's Spurs bound on the basis of his only other option without a concrete offer was from Inter, which is nuts. "The other interest we got was of Inter Milan, but the only offer came from Tottenham".

He's shit now, going to Spurs and everything. 5th place nailed on and he'll sign for Madrid in two years.

How he actually confirmed he joining spurs? All i can see is he has confirmed hes leaving for England.

Really hope we have our targets tied up and he will not be someone we rue missing out on.

"The other interest we got was of Inter Milan, but the only offer came from Tottenham," he told a press conference.

"I will not play in the Recopa because there are contractual requirements of Tottenham which cannot be discussed here," he added.

Well, that's our midfield 3 now sorted.

Next up could well be David Villa. Fingers crossed.

If they can sign 1 more decent wide player in the Pedro Rodriguez mould, they could have a very decent 4-3-3 going.

Wonder if this means Bale will be used in a wider area again or if AVB will leave 1 of Paulinho, Sandro or Dembele on the bench.

I like Sandro but due to his injury problems I think it'll be him that spends more time than he'd like on the bench.

I think AVB ideally wants a fluid, interchangeable front 3, with Bale as one of the 3 and where it doesn't much matter where each of the 3 nominally line up, whether left right or centre. Villa would fit with this very well.

Don't really know anything about him but from what I've read looks like it will be a very good signing for Spurs.
