Paul Scholes: Give Ole Until The End Of The Season

This is the most you'll get from scholes and neville. They're his mates ffs, would any of us throw our mate under the bus on live tv ?

That his mates are even considering he should be sacked is pretty damning in itself.
They should shut the feck up then rather than give support to a manager who is sorely out of his depths and whose presence is damaging the club with each passing day. We're looking at another season wasted as a result.

Scholes and Neville care more about their mate than the good interests of Manchester United. If this was any other manager other than one of their own they would be all over him. Now they would rather have a go at the players than speak the truth about Ole. And they are supposed to be professional pundits. Biased is what they are. Pathetic.

Well, take him to Salford FC then. I don't want Ole anywhere near Manchester United anymore.

Pathetic punditry. A person in the media, who is defending the indefensible, is an insult to the profession.

I would be normally with Scholes it’s just a matter of bad day bad luck poor results. But it wasn’t, we have been seriously lacking structure, balance and game plan, and totally running out of ideas and got overplayed by almost every decent team out there. If it’s for sentimental reason, we could as well totally give up this season. But I don’t think we could afford to do so.

The problem is that I don't see us moving in any direction. I don't see a defined playstyle that is improving with time and more signings. Yes, the squad looks much better, but what else would you expect after giving him 300M net spend and the highest wage bill in the league?

The team has looked most exciting during his stint as the caretaker manager. Similarly, many of our signings have looked at their best in their first few months for us and seemed to go on a slow downhill from there (James, Maguire, AWB, and Bruno after carrying us for many months, seems to have lost his top form). This doesn't speak very favorably of the manager and his entourage.

Scholes told The Overlap : "I think he deserves a chance. If you think about the last three or four years about where United had been, it has been shocking, hasn't it? It had not been great to watch before he came.
"It has took him two or three years to build a squad where we think the pieces are there to the puzzle, it's just getting them in that right organisation.
"There was a lot of excitement at the start of the season after four or five games; they beat Newcastle (4-1) and beat Leeds (5-1) and the last two games have been disappointing.
"But I think he deserves a chance. He has built a squad where he should be given a year, at least this season, to show that he can manage that and win trophies."

Im with Scholes - Ole has done more than enough in the last 2 seasons to get a chance to turn around this run of poor form.
After all we started last season even worse and he proved many of the doubters wrong by getting 2nd place in the end.

Of course, if we keep losing matches then he wont last the year and neither should he, but its early days this season. Ole has pulled out big results when he needed them the most, and a win next weekend puts us 1 point behind Liverpool, so its far from the lost cause that many are making out.

Nope. This train is headed towards a ditch, giving him time doesn't lead to anything but the wreckage. If Ole wants more time at the very least he needs to fire his incompetent coaching staff and stop being favoritist towards players. Otherwise he needs to go. And it will become painfully obvious when we get eliminated from the easiest UCL group ever and lose at least two more from the next three EPL games.

Chelsea fired Lampard for much less, and they won UCL the same season and now they are already challenging for EPL. This is how serious top club is managed. We on the other hand have become the joke of the league. Humiliating!

Shame on Scholes for putting his friend above the club. If he doesn't want to criticize his buddy (undestandable) he should refrain from a comment on this subject or avoid it by saying he hopes things will improve and stop there

Can't argue with much of that but he did turn it around last season and there is still plenty of life left this year

But I agree that he won't get as much patience this season as last so things need to change ASAP, starting this week

I'm not so sure that just top4 will be enough this season, unless it came with a deep CL run at least

It won't be enough for me anyway - need to see constant progress

Feel free to listen here for my more detailed opinion

Yeah I'm convinced you're just trolling at this point.

Personally I wouldn't attack or criticize a friend in public if he was doing a bad job, but I wouldn't say that nonsense either. They can just say we aren't comfortable giving an opinion on this. If this was anyone other than Ole they'd have crucified him by now.

Nobody deserves to have more time after 3 years, and once you lose the dressing room there's no coming back. We could still salvage a lot from this season with a good manager at the helm. But this is united, so the season has to completely crumble before we make a decision.

Nepotism FC at it again

I'm largely with you here. If we had brought in coaching experts rather than rookie coaches/former players, we would probably not be having this discussion.

I think we all liked OGS' talk about Manchester United DNA and his attacking mindset, but the reality is that it hasn't worked.

Whatever formation, whatever players we put on the pitch, we look like a bunch of lads who just met in a pub

Here's a question. Of all this collection of coaching staff, who is responsible for the defence?

Nah the only situation Ole should make it till the end of the season is if his successor has already agreed to replace him then. If we go into the end of the season with a "let's see" mindset, expect the next managerial hiring and summer 2022 transfer business to be rushed and poorly thought out.

This is why i get to dislike the co92 as time goes on.

They're not showing the love for the club and what it stands for and more about keeping their matey matey ahoy.

Nepotism FC. None of them have shown managerial quality worthy of midtable PL teams let alone the behemoth of United. Not even trying hard, but smiling, sitting on your chair when you're young and healthy.. while losing... even a 70 years old SAF still stands in the touchline and barking instructions every once in a while. A prime 50 years old SAF was a hairdryer.

All the right soundbites but zero improvement tactical wise.

You dont need to be like Klopp, but a little passion would rub in to your player, some little encouragement.

I'd be inclined to agree with him if Ole hadn't had time and built his own team, but he has and the same issues persist

the only way I'd want him to stay until then is if our first choice isn't available until next summer

I wonder why most of ex-United players are absolutely clueless as pundit.

Are they clueless? They were already criticizing Nuno 6 games in, but won’t do so with Ole 3 years in.

It’s understandable. He’s their mate.

How about feck no. If he wants to make it to the end of the season then earn it by winning.

The Washed Up Managers FC is unwavering in their bias as per usual.

I'd give him until he can't get 40 points in the first half of the season.

He currently has 47 max points so there's not much room for mistakes.

feck that. He's been here for 3 years, he has shown he can't take us to actually compete for trophies. We have a squad ready for them. Wasting this squad on blind faith for Ole is a fecking travesty.

There’s no benefit to giving Ole more time, he has nothing else to give, this is it. He’s never been good enough and never will be, more time, more money, better players won’t change that.

We’ve wasted enough time on Ole already, wasting more isn’t the answer.

Great players, especially Scholes, but they are a bit backward aren’t they? You’d be better off listening to people like Van Der Sar etc. OGS has had plenty of time…

The club won't sack him and they've said so too. Do we need 100 threads on Ole then?
Results will dictate it. He's already on a terrible run of form( 1 point from last 3 league games). Pretty sure if we were to get a similar return in our next 3 league games his position will be untenable. That's not even mentioning getting dumped out of League cup and struggling in Europe.

Mates FC, Nepotism FC....Oh my...I am glad that finally most of you are agreeing with me.

Scholes would have had a valid point if this was a temporary dip but its not. United had been grinding results for months, losing out when it truly matters. Our tactics are non existent and there's severe coaching deficiencies that are simply not being tackled (ex set pieces). So seriously I fail to see why we should wait unless of course we're relying on luck and throwing money at the problem which is exactly what Ole had been doing.

My only concern is how the club will handle this transition. The last thing we want is for someone to come in on a temporary basis, he does relatively well only to get a 5 year contract afterwards.

If we take out the sentimental attachment with Ole and look from only football perspective, it is clear that he is not up to the task. I am just a simple football fan and definitely do not have footballing knowledge or know how Paul Scholes has. What I don't understand is that how he cannot see what we normal fans can see. We fans are not against Ole because we lost couple of games. We understand shit days happens but instead of those being rare, they are quite frequent.
Why he has to say give him time, how much more time does he need? Every season there will be a position or 2 which needs to be fixed because, he cannot have team of 11 world class players on pitch. Even Sir Alex never had team of WC11.
We fans are against Ole the manager because it is clear to see his shortcomings and do no think he has ability to overcome those abilities. Top manager all have their problems but they find a way to mask them, Ole clearly don't have that ability.
So as much as I would like to give Ole till end of season, I can be pretty certain it won't change a thing. We will still get top 4 but it's not because of Oles Ability but due to superior squad quality that we have.

3 years in and one of the best squads in the world football, yet we look as clueless as ever, with counter attack being our only means of attack.

Mates FC with the support I see

Just like fecking clockwork, United pundits (Gnev, Scholes, Keane) in the media shitting on Conte or praising Ole. They want to maintain influence on the club and its decisions. This helps them both financially and also keeps them relevant. And that's why they will never question Ole or Carrick or Phelan.

They believe they know the answer of what would get them winning, because they won, when none of them have any managerial accomplishment at all.

We were top of the league at the turn of this year so yes the team under Ole has shown title winning form for half a season at least

Even Spurs under Jose were top of the league for couple of weeks if I remember correctly that doesn't mean they were challenging for title. Bloody hell Liverpool has been topping the table almost every midseason in last few years but still managed to win only once. Its a very weak argument to say that since we topped the table for couple of weeks mean we've shown title winning form.
Title winning form is when Liverpool hunted city for title and were point short. City still managed to hold them off.
When have we shown such form?at first hint of title challenge, we have collapsed. Don't fool yourself with 2nd position we had as progress. I would t mind 4th position if there was a progress in the way team play. That'd give me more hope than 2nd position finish.

To be honest, I am really tired of all these “give manager more time“ or “until end of season”. If Chelsea did that, they would have never won CL last season. Point being, Ole is clearly not the man to take us forward, it has nothing to do with poor result lately. He is just, clueless. And we can’t let a clueless manager to spend more time to figure out what’s wrong, in jeopardize of our whole season. He has already spent 400m, on top of 350m spending from the previous man, and he has already been here for 3 years, there’s simply no sign of improvement in terms of overall play style of his team. We are still the same disjoint team before and after, and outplayed by every decent team out there. We only rely on individuals, there’s nothing positive about team coaching here. With the squad we have, he is dragging us down.

We hit the jackpot with Fergie 35 years ago, doesn’t mean we will hit the jackpot with every other clueless manager we appoint.

He definitely wouldn't have said this if Mourinho was in charge.

#MatesFC

Was this not said before the defeat to Liecester?

Before or after, Scholes is wrong. No other big club in the world has such a romantic notion about managers. This is why after the jackpot of Sir Alex, we haven't come close to winning the league.

Manchester United is aiming to contend for the title. Have you ever thought, during Solskjaer's tenure, that he produces a team that plays the sort of football required to win a championship.

That's the only question. The thing about giving chances... That's child stuff.

But we just need a CDM (like Decline the Rice) and we'll suddenly turn into Brazil 1982. Because even though we don't have a gameplan or "patterns of play" after 3 years and 440m quid spent..., the current management just are one single player away from changing all that. If we could just be patient for another season until we get that CDM, the gameplan, tactics, patterns all will just emerge. It will be magical, everything will fall into place, because somehow it will. It has to. We're Nostalgia FC with Delusion FC sprinkled on top.

"the last two games have been disappointing". Right... two

Scholes and co don't have credibility on this topic.
