Signing of the season.

Just looks fresher... I think he's just realised how much he loves the game after being out, and if my impression is right he should be signing soon enough :)

We got a 25 player limit to respect and we already have fletch, giggs, ando, carrick and clev. Considering that we need 1-2 new cm, who should lose his place?

Fletch isn't playing. I very much doubt he will next year either from what I've heard about what he's got. I'd love to be wrong and see him back though.

He is still the best midfielder in the league.

Jamie Rednknapp just said "he is so hot we need to put him in a bucket of ice to cool him down"

Does anyone have our ball possession stats pre and post Scholes for this season?

It just seems our possession has increased considerably since his return.

The passing stats are made to be even more amazing when you know he often attempts difficult passes

Indeed. A lot of players can boost their stats through simple passes, but Scholes attempted countless cross field balls today as well, almost all of which were successful.

Too right. His passing was outstanding today, so many cross field balls which always found their man. Comfortably the best player on the pitch.

More and more like Giggs. Have run out of words.

Forget rolling back the years, his displays, at best, have been as good as any in his career. Crackerjack goal too.

Really hope he & Rio get called up and play a full part in the Euro's. With both in the team, England might just make some serious progress.

114/120 passes today, 95% success rate.

And I bet a vast majority of those were forward passes in the opposition half. He still has the confidence in his first touch to look up just before he receives the ball, and so know what is about to happen around him before he passes.

At 37 or 38, he still is the single player who creates more time on the ball for himself than any other in the PL. His experience more than make up for the legs going abit (much like Rio).

Still has another year to offer us, if he is happy to play the squad role. I hope he is.

Yes only 3% backwards according to Twitter.

Is there a GIF of his goal today?

Even his quick one two's around the opposition's penalty area are great. He's the one player in that situation you can be confident won't mess up.

Is Carricks consistency not down to havingScholesy beside him though?

It's possible. But from what I recall Carrick's excellent performances have started several weeks before Scholes and arrived and while Scholes hasn't started every match since his return, Carrick has barely been out of the lineup for months. I'm sure having a partner you are used to is beneficial fo both.

Carrick has been fantastic since October, against Galati away he was motm by a distance and since then has been consistently excellent. So it was months before Scholes came back.

Typical Scholes. Saw interview on Sky with Rio and at the end they have to ask him to pass the champagne bottle to Scholes as he is the MOTM and isn't there to receive it.

They really ought to consider something like this or maybe some variant based on seasons with the club etc.

They're very unlikely to be able to play every game, so if you have a handful of such veterans you're at a bit of a disadvantage and will need more players to cover the extra rest they need.

I don't see how they could argue against that. At the time it was pretty clear that the rule was to combat player-hoarding and all its side effects, but it was kind of surprising that they didn't build in some allowances to avoid penalizing clubs that had been running normally up until then.

In the NBA they have exceptions so you can sign veterans when you can't sign someone else, so there's precedent for something like that.

It would also allow older players to have a swan song, making a few appearances off the bench and the odd start, without taking up what could be a vital roster spot.

Shall we start a petition?

Is it true that since he re-joined us United's passing accuracy went from 6th best in the league to the best ?

Pretty much any story regarding Scholes' accuracy is true. Like the time he put out a six-alarm warehouse fire with a passing kid's football and a fire-hydrant.

If you start one I think you'll not want for signatories. I do think however that they might have had some sort of reason for not having those allowances in place already. It's hard to believe they would be that shortsighted.

absolute legend.... We ll never have anyone like him, both on and off the pitch.
I hope the likes of pogba, morrison and the rest look up to someone like scholes as their model instead of listening to some money-grabbing cnut.
I think one of scholes secret, apart from his class, is that he was always focused on what goes ON the pitch and was not distracted by money issues.
