Paul Pogba

The Metro is a load of shite. Think he'd go Chelsea or City before he'd join us, but we'll see. He's a fantastic footballer.

No, we don't want him. Mou is not a Pogba appreciater. For that pricetag he won't go nowhere in England, btw.

At this rate I'd prefer to blow 30 million on Schneiderlin or Witsel and have 50 million left over to buy the likes of Depay and Laporte then to blow 80 million on Pogba

The Guardian are only reporting it in their Rumour Mill section. They're most likely going on the reports from the Express or the Metro. Nothing to see here.

I do expect Pogba to move though. Most likely to Madrid or City imo.

James Richardson said on Football Weekly this week that he thinks Pogba will stay one more season at Juventus and then leave after that.

I said it before, Pogba to Madrid, Luka to us.

Luka would be cheaper which would leave us money for other players.

Why on earth would you want Modric? That boat has sailed and he'd be 30 by next season.

We should be aiming for young players.

Look at his location :-)

Well that and the fact that Modric still is a brilliant player.

Probably... Unless he fancies waiting a season so he can play them and Barca off each other.
I could actually see him struggling in this Barca system tbh. He'd be a very good to perfect fit for Madrid's more direct style though.

That being said, Rakitic isn't doing too badly for Barca.

But yeah, in all honesty, the prices being quoted by his agent is mind boggling and i honestly wouldn't want to go near him for 80m+. (obviously, the figure could be less).

But there's a few other midfielders out there who'd probably cost less than half that, at a similar level IMO.

Modric is too old now. We should aim for younger midfielders.

As wise as Paris signing Luiz for 50m.

He is just 29, he still has 4 good seasons left and he can give us that vital experience we are lacking, our team is desperately in need of experienced players

I'd worry about what Sounesss said as regards to Modric.

I'd have signed Schneiderlin last Summer if it was me. He seems perfect for the type of football we want to play has a few years of excellent form, premier league proven, he's also a good age, experienced player with plenty of miles left on the clock but isn't a youngster. He'd walk into our midfield and replace Carrick just nicely.

He'll be 30 at the beginning of the season. He might give us 3-4 good years but there are better options.

Pirlo, Xavi and Scholes played well on their thirties but Modric wasn't ever near as good as them. Also, changing the club on thirties doesn't always work well.

Well you named top 3 mids of a generation. Modrić is behind them Of course. Maybe I'm a bit biased but he's a brilliant player and not going for him if there was a chance cause he's 30 would be mad.

I'd take Modric in a heart beat. He's better than anything we have.

Bayern Munich with perhaps the best midfield in the world signed Xabi Alonso in the summer, and he's even older than Modric.

Modric wasn't ever as good as Alonso and neither will play on a familiar system (Pep's and Del Bosque systems are quite similar so transition was easy).

He's better than everything we have but I would prefer Pogba for 60m rather than him for 30m

It worked for Xabi Alonso and Pirlo, i think you are underrating Modric a little bit, i mean its not like he isn't a good midfielder - he was great for Spurs and he knows how to play in the EPL, i just think we should go for a more experienced Midfielder.... if we can't get Pogba, especially one who has played at the highest level for the best team in the world.

I would like to know the "better options" though

Bayern signed Alonso for less than 10 million. If we could get Modric for that, then by all means.

I don't want Pogba back. He's not like Sparky Hughes who had already shown his qualities and regard for the club before he came back. Pogba wanted to go and made a big sulk about it. Under those circumstances he can hardly want to come back hoping all is forgiven.

That was a stupid comment

No it wasn't, we've seen with players that have left us.

What did he say?

He said never buy a player who feels like they are doing you a favour. At 30 years old moving to a club he was never keen on to begin with after playing for Real Madrid will be a step down for him IMO, he has nothing left to prove.

I don't want him either, i have grown to dislike him and the media for trying to make it seem like we lost the greatest ever player, with all the vines and gifs of his long range goals and skills, its like having a bitter ex.

I wouldn't mind if we signed him though, we need him at the end of the day

Not at 30, the only relevant players that have left us went to Real Madrid, so i think we will be just fine

I think Juve have priced Pogba out of the market for anyone this summer including Madrid

I think it's a risk as Modric always seemed to want to stay in London and at 30 with a CL under his belt we could just be a place to play out his career for 3 or 4 seasons without giving the maximum effort. It might not be the case but I personally wouldn't risk it with other options out there.

Lol, i don't think Modric is as bad as Souness stated, i think people are reading too much into it, but i do agree with you about exploring other options( but a £15 million Modric wouldn't be bad) ......Matuidi comes to mind

Souness wasn't referring to Modric in particular, just to players that feel they are taking a step down to join aka doing you a favour. I also doubt Real would sell for any less than £30M.

You sure about that?

He played in a PL and I'm sure he would get the system, whatever it may be, very quickly.

Except he was arguably the best CM last season. I would prefer Pogba too, just because he is 21 and has bags of potential, however Modric would be a class signing tbh

Modric and Alonso play very different roles so I don't see any point in comparing them.
