Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

That's it exactly, they are in huge debt from what I've read/heard. They simply can't afford him at this moment in time.
The new Neymar contract must have further tightened the purse strings as well. I think it's between us and Madrid for Pogba, I actually don't see him staying at Juve for another season so I reckon he'll move to one of us this summer.

I understand peoples resevations on this signing but, we have just done two deals with Raiola. If There was 'no chance' of Pogba coming, like some of you keep saying, wouldnt he just communicate that to us and let that be that.

It's down to Pogba, we can obviously offer more than Real, but I can't shift the niggling feeling he'd rather go there. I'm sure Raiola would rather he joined us though.

Indeed. There obviously is a chance of us signing him, but as I've said from the start I believe whether we get him solely depends on how serious Real Madrid's interest is. I don't think there's anything we can do to persuade him to join us over them.

Yeh spot on. We can definitely outmuscle Real financially and offer both Juve and Pogba more money than Madrid, Raiola would probably want him to come to us since it doesn't close the door on a Madrid switch in the future and he'd rake in the cash not to mention must be nice to have your 3 biggest clients all in the same place. Objectively though Madrid are far more attractive from a players perspective. Let's hope money talks.

I could just see us buying him and the huge price tag hanging over him all the way through the season. He would score the odd wonder goal but never really dominate games. I could see it now people quickly turning against him.
I can see us winning the league. The only downside I can think of in this deal is the sell on value should he decide to move on again. But if Mou is still here he would probably set up a super deal like Zlatan/Eto'o.

I'm still seeing people saying it's embarrassing for the club to bring him back for so much money.

Did Mourinho mishandle him and let him go? Did Woodward mess up contract negotiations with him? Everyone concerned with the whole scenario is no longer in a position of power and the new men want to bring him in. They've nothing to be ashamed of, it wasn't their decision to let him go.

Every mistake has a price to pay. Here the price to pay is the transfer fee.

It's not a big deal (to us fans). Barcelona did the same thing with Fabregas (although for a third of the price!). I'm completely for this. He's from our academy, will settle instantly, has family and friends here. Has the ability.

The recipe for success.

Why would he weaken his position when negotiating a deal? Utd involved helps get better deals.

No, just that we "explored the possibility" and held talk with Raiola but would now look elsewhere for a young top striker. My basic thing with Castles is that he sometimes no doubt does get fed stuff by Mendes, but much of the time he just bullshits and guesses his way along like most other journos.
Ok I see. Yeah but in this case, he's released like 3 articles linking us with Pogba and saying pretty much the same things. There has to be something in this from his point of view.

I think it would be stupidity if Raiola or Pogba don't realise this fact that they need to be in a team where team is built around him so that he can show his true potential and get in the reckoning of Ballon d'Or or something. With Madrid he will only be in the audience to say "Hala Madrid" when Ronaldo says the 1-2-3 or Bale does the same. It's more like that with Perez, he would always go for a shiny new diamond which is seen by all the world and that is almost always upfront.... I still do think even if real get him, they'd sign someone else upfront as well to make a proper galactico

I don´t think that Madrid has economic problems. In fact for what I read they are preparing a very strong investment this summer. They have already offered 65 million euros for Alaba and I am almost convinced that will sign a top attacking player. They could also get extra money for Morata and James or use them in some transfer.
Right now, and seeing that the summer has just begun I consider that Madrid still is ahead in the possible signing of Pogba

It's a different club.

An absolute colossal club with arguably the best manager in world football at the helm, not only that but playing in the most competitive league, getting one of the best wages out of any club.

There's a lot of reasons for United, the club has fantastic training facilities too I just see United as a great club, Pogba also plays with Evra don't forget at International level AND club level..

I don't think it's a bad club to play for, there isn't a huge gulf like people suggest in regards to Real Madrid, football works in cycles. Real Madrid won the CL yes but Ronaldo is starting to drag his heels a bit he's getting older. He won't last another 3 years at the top level (scoring 50+ a season).

United do have some really young good players Mourinho is a greater manager than Zidane and you don't have to deal with Perez so although it means something to play for Real, United is equally as big of a pull and you're going to develop more where each game really tests you.

I wouldn't be amazed if Madrid sign Pogba, working under a french Legend at the most decorated club team in the world is great but United aren't a small club, it's had a rough 3 years without SAF but now it has Mourinho, new era and new chapter.

Having the same agent in Raiola also helps, he can communicate the plans of the club. The ambitions and the fact you'll be the superstar player, unlike at Madrid you may not always be appreciated.

Okay, I got some information on Paul Pogba. Its not a done deal, so dont get to excited, but the interest is 100% genuine. And, we are the front leaders, before Real Madrid. United are going to show the football world that we are above all others and that we can kill off all competition. The Hollywood player is very much alive.

Are we the front runners because Real Madrid aren't all that interested, or because we're offering more money, or because the player really wants to join us?

Its money and Pogba does seem to like Manchester and Mourinho. Real Madrid will have to digg deep to match us. At this point, its up to Juventus and the Pogba entourage.

Well... thats good enough for me.

I see. Well it sounds like we're willing to break the bank for him which is encouraging.

Helps that we have Raiola on our side.

It strikes me that Pogba is currently (leaving aside how he might develop in the future) a classic case of a player that can change a game in an instant with a moment of brilliance (by no means a bad thing!) while at the same time entire matches can simply pass him by. His ability to dictate the play (like Modric) or to simply 'boss' the game (like Veratti) does not yet appear to be part of his overall make-up as a footballer.

I'm not sure how many would agree with this assessment but if you do which player, within or without the current squad, would be best suited to act as a foil to Pogba so that we could get the very best out of the qualities he does have while not over-exposing his deficiencies?

Wait hold on, who are your sources? (I'm not trying to call you out or anything.)

Play him in a 3 with Carrick/Bastian and Morgan/Herrera but Rooney will be there somewhere.
Also I expect Mourinho to develop Pogbas game if he comes

That's kind of my point. I think Kante is the type of player we need.

I think we need both, Id be happy with Pogba and Diarra or developing TFM plus we have Morgan too
We really need a genuine goal threat again from CM

You are a God among men

So there is no doubt now Mourinho thinks Pogba is his main target for the summer, Under Roman Jose was used to getting his player no matter how difficult the transaction as ultimately Roman has enough money to make most clubs give inn eventually. Now it will be interesting to see if United can really break the bank for Pogba. Us not having CL football is quiet a huge deciding factor for me personally.

Also a midfield two of Rooney and Pogba doesn't work so what does this mean for the team. If Pogba comes for the money being quoted i think its quiet a real possibility the club might ship off any two of Fellaini, Herrera, Rooney or Schnerdlin to recoup some money.

Thanks for the heads up.
Are you able to give a ball park figure of what we are willing to pay,I'm assuming it's over 100k?

Not many top drawer midfielders out there in terms of quality and versatility unfortunately.

Otherwise if Verratti is willing to move and we can buy him off PSG I'd rather we break the bank on him than Pogba. Verratti and Kante/Matic is basically what he is used to with Mathuidi next to him. If we're willing to spend near the quoted figures for Pogba I'd rather have Kante/Verratti for 100-120m pounds and try Rooney in the number 10 or buy James as well.

Kante -- Verratti
-----James------

Would be a great midfield.

If Verratti is not available then 60-70 on Kroos should be also an option.

My feeling with Pogba is that it will end up like Di Maria. United being his second destination and we blow stupid amount of money on him. The quality is there of course.

Haven't really been on here too much recently. @Acquire Me is being accepted as ITK? Why? No disrespect, just curious

Think he was certain about Mourinho for months in advance (claimed by his same sources). People called him a bullshitter but in the end Mourinho came.

I don't think comparing the move with Di Maria is fair, Pogba has history in Manchester, family and friends living there still. I don't think it'll be a case of him being dragged kicking and screaming if he comes. The Jose factor is massive and can't be overstated, he's a huge draw.
