Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

We already have invested in potential or have started giving them chances (if from academy). Bailly is 22. DDG, Shaw, Martial, Rashford, TFM all have their best years ahead of them. Mkhitaryan, Smalling etc also have good 4-5 years ahead of them.

Last year, our squad one of the youngest (in top 3 I think), while City's was oldest. So they needed to invest in future and trust Pep to develop them. We on other hand need couple of proven players to go with a good young core. Pogba actually offers both, at just 23 he is one of the most coveted players in the world. I will take Pogba for 100m over Sane for 40m right now and it is not for quality but because we need a Pogba that much more to get back in title hunt.
Shaw, Martial, Depay(not great now, but was billed as a massive young talent) etc in the last three four years. Add to that the potential of Rashford, Bailly, TFM plus the fact is that Pogba is only 23 means that our future will look good. City had the oldest squad last season so they needed to sign the young talent. Btw Sane for 40m pounds is not a realistic price. He's as overpriced as Martial was last season, let's see what he does.

Such thought match, much wow

Didn't we do the same last summer and the one before? Now we need world class players. City already has Agero, Silva, Toure and Kompany.

Only Augero is world class on that list and the other 3 have big question marks on them. KDB would have been a better example. But we have DDG our one world class player from last season then Shaw Martial are top drawer. I wouldn't swap Smalling for Kompany nowadays either. We also have our new signings one of which imo is still world class in Zlatan.

The more this drags, the less confident I am of this deal actually happening.

Jose's comments last night also were not very promising.

He's always said that though.

He won't talk about him since he's still officially a Juventus player.

I understand that but at this point I was hoping for something more concrete from him like "I won't go into names but we are confident of signing our target."

Surely you can say this much if the transfer fee is already agreed with Juve, as reported by DiMarzio, Castles, SSN, Telegraph, etc.

Wait? What? That was me. Who are discussing it, a Juve forum? Fecks sake:lol:

Yeah, someone quoted your post and they were discussing how thick the people on redcafe are. :D Crazy stuff :D

Better to be careful and actually wait until he signs. He seemed confident to me. This is no ordinary deal and there are still dangers. We must be patient a little while longer and as many posters have said, let's wait til he gets home before he comes home.

Even if I did, there is nothing worse than a dragged out transfer saga.

It's still over a week until the league starts.

Chelsea have signed nearly nobody
Arsenal have 1 player
Liverpool have some shite
City have a couple but Jesus isn't coming until December (fan of christmas?) and they have failed to get their 2 primary CB targets
Spurs improved the squad but nothing to fear

We are at least on par, possibly ahead of everyone else this window, and are about to go massively ahead with Pogba, whether that's this week or next

This is actually the most chilled saga for a while. Better than panicking until the 31st August.

Muppets seem to be showing symptoms of cabin fever, but the cabin is this thread.

He said "we are going to sign one more player, that is for sure". He didn't want to speak about "paul" because he's still with juve and he doesn't like it when other managers talk about his players.

Essentially Jose said we are going to get the fourth player, and he was being diplomatic by not creating a bunch of new headlines. Remember the "where there is smoke there is fire" comment he made in relation to pogba?

Pogba is jose's fourth target, he wants it to happen.

I dunno I trod on a plug once.

That's a word I don't think I can ever recall seeing written down before now. Heard it a million times, it just doesn't look right in textual form.

Please explain your reasoning? What could he realistically have said that would have been promising?

Not that I think its off like him, if it was a completely done deal he could have said something more promising. This is the man who basically confirmed Mikhi before we announced it. Although I prefer that he didn't say anything, as seeing the actual announcement would be just awesome!

It's so British it hurts.

This is the biggest transfer deal in history. The club would go spare if this massive PR opp was lost due to Jose announcing it. Said as much as possible IMO

Chelsea have signed Batshuayi and Kante. Hardly nobody.

City have spent £100m already!

You might be right. But its frustrating that the deal doesn't seem to have made much progress even though its likely mostly done. Wish all the parties involved put in a bit of effort to just give us muppets a closure.

*nearly* nobody, I said. Kante is good, but Batshuayi very raw, nothing to be afraid of yet.

Gundogan is a fat crock. Sane is a talent but a young player coming from the Bundesliga isn't a cert. Jesus isn't signing for them yet. Nolito is shit. As I said, they wanted to go big on Laporte and Stones but have failed with both. Stones and Sane are definitely sagas, one of them only JUST signed.

Point is, we've got 3 key targets in and Pogba is only days away. The idea we're drastically behind everyone else and embroiled in some horrid saga that's ruining all of our plans is just silly.

There must be 1,000+ posts in here saying "I'm bored of this now" or words to that effect.

Stop reading the cnuting thread then you dumb fecks.

Agreed it's frustrating, but all indications are that the deal is in place. Don't understand the hysteria from some about his holiday, clearly he needs that as he's been constantly playing for the past year.

The club have generally always erred on the side of only announcing deals when they are 100% complete. I mean, it took a week after Mikhi was announced by his club!

I think Jose seemed happy that matters are coming to a conclusion.

"i'm bored of this" and "if pogba doesn't sign by 2pm X day in august, it's not happening".

I seriously don't understand either comment. It's like the club has to undertake business within a certain prism of time....that is artificially constructed by a fan typing on a forum :wenger::wenger::lol:

I'm probably reading too much into it but do managers (or anyone in football) every refer to players by their first names?

If Pogba ends his holiday this weekend, will he head to London instead of Turin as Juv is having a match this Sunday?

All fair points, I guess it's just the obscene price-tag that concerns me along with the fact that I've watched him and, YT compilations apart, have I've seen nothing in real game-time for Juve or France that justifies him being comfortably in that price-bracket (but what do I know, eh?).

Add to all that the fact that if we hadn't let him go in the first place none of this would be necessary and I'm all :wenger:. Please do not get me wrong Muppet army: I voted no in the poll above but the minute we sign him I'll support him all the way!

Things this saga has taught me:
1. What Raiola looks like.
2. That Raiola is a scumbag.
3. Pogba is Muslim.
4. Ed Woodward is beautiful.
5. Apparently we don't mind spending money after all.
