Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

I think the reason Pogba would be worth more than say a Kroos or Kante, is more due to his commercial abilities combined with his sporting abilities. His name and "brand" will bring in far more money than a Kroos or Kante (who funnily enough may be equal or better than him on the field). His age is also far younger than Kroos and offers you nearly 10 years of service if you can convince him to stay, and if he leaves he will attract a major sell on fee.

Funny to think we supposedly passed on Kroos and Fabregas for a combined 60m and had Pogba running around in our back yard...now thats a serviceable little midfield.

Yeah I understand the economics of it all. But I am a football fan and Man United supporter. I couldn’t care less what anybody costs, earns or brings in. I want to see us back successful on the pitch. I am not dead against signing Pogba, far from it. Although his performances and arm throwing antics at the Euro’s have tainted my thoughts on him a little.

I just think Kante and Kroos as the two holders provides the energy, tenacity and technical ability to provide the back 4 with enough protection but also a great base for the attacking players in the side.

Im a huge Kroos fan and every time I see him he impresses. I would go as far as saying he is the only “big name” at the Euro’s that has justified / improved his reputation.

I hear your argument and its valid for the money men but commercial “gain” form a player should be seen as a bonus and not a prerequisite. I doubt very much Michael Carrick has much of a commercial worth to the club off the field. However, he’s been an integral member of a side that has won multiple league title and got to 3 champions league finals. I think Kroos is a similar player. The type of player who makes the sum of the parts so much better, Pogba is very much a brilliant player but with him and Zlatan……..bit too galatico for me.

Are you being serious? He plays deep lying CM that isn't his game or the reason why they bought him. He hasn't had a bad season why would they give him away.

If that was really an option to buy him at that amount then yes definitely we should by him..as long we play him upfront so he gets more goals.

What are you on about. I'm simply Stating deep line playmakers should not and don't cost as much as attacking midfielders. Nothing hard to understand really.

Agree with you for the most part but that's an outlandish statement. Modric, Bale, Iniesta, Buffon, Bonnuci etc. have all done so too.

Dortmund had the same stance over Mkhitaryan a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't mean anything
Difference being, Mkhitaryan made it perfectly clear where he wanted to be playing football come the start of the season. That means a lot to the selling club. Pogba won't declare it is his dream to play fort United.

He might if the money is right. Modern footballers are fickle fickle humans. If its not us, he'll be declaring it's his dream to play for Real before the summer is over.

No doubt the money would be right, but he isn't coming back. He will not push this move himself, no way.

And how would you know that? Maybe it's too optimistic to think he has a chance of coming back but anything is possible with Mourinho at the helm.

Just an educated guess. I think the lad believes the hype about himself, and although we have Mourinho, I can't see him forcing a move to United when we are currently rebuilding and out the CL.

I understand what your saying i was being fosicious but as one of the best passes in the game regardless of goals he scores they aren't going to sell him for £40m, It's not like they have given any inclination that they want to get rid of him. I would be surprised if would want to sell him even if they signed Pogba, but if they did then i agree that we should go for Kroos, but i think they would want closer to double that figure, which i would still be tempted.

Why, though?

Given the state of the market, the team we're (assuming the rumours are true) dealing with, the hype surrounding the player, his age, 100 million isn't too much over priced.

@Pexbo is completely right. If he were going to Madrid or Barcelona at that fee, we would be lambasting Woodward for our lack of interest and unwillingness to spend big. You really cannot win sometimes.
It's the club's money and I want that we pay fair prices. Yes, we pay over the odds for most players but 120m is just crazy. For that amount you get 2 or 3 top players

I have a question.Does pogba count as a home grown player?
No

FA rules stipulate that "A home-grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)".
P

Pogba was at Manchester United from 7 October 2009 to 3 August so he was a couple of months short of the required 3 yeears.

Edit:^got there before me

Kante for me, is no better than the player I believe TFM can become with the right investment in him. I don't think we should irresponsibly trust youth, but I don't think Kante is a specially gifted player, and TFM has a similar engine, also a great tackler and ball winner, and just needs time.

We sack managers that don't get top 4. Given this, coupled with Maureen's reputation in the balance
(lets face it failure here and he's suddenly not exactly hot property)...Its hard to say Kante for the here and now does not make complete sense.

With Madrid, the stingy cnuts Juve and perhaps the most volatile agent in the business Raiola involved this is going to turn into a circus. I hope Woody and co have other targets in mind

Yeah they have all done well too. Kroos has ran every game for the Germans though.

What I can't understand is, why wait until a meeting today to tell Raiola that they aren't willing to sell? Seems a bit silly to me.

EDIT: And why tell Real how much they want for him, yet no deal to United?
So Raiola can smash things in person

I don't think any one players offers what Pogba offers but you can easily spread his skill set over 2 players and get to the same result for far less outlay. I watched Moneyball last night so I know what I'm talking about.

Pogba saga has all the signs for either Madrid or PSG to step in last minute and sign the player.

Why wouldn't Zidane want him at Madrid, or the new incoming PSG manager. Makes no sense what so ever why Paul wouldn't choose the other two clubs above us especially as United don't have CL football.

I don't see why a player ready to take their skills to the next level.. Goes to PSG??

I think we will get him if Madrid interest eases.. Hopefully the cost is not astronomical.. £80m should do it.

I'm quite confident we are goibg to labd him actually.

We are willing and able to pay the mega fees required.

Pogba will jump at the chance to join us.

He will get an astronomical pay increase.

New challenge in the PL under Mou.

Its in our interest that he wants to stay an extra year. Allows us to even the playing field by next summer.

Hope France get knocked out soon, means this transfer could be done quickly rather than it dragging it for another few extra weeks

If the rumoured, he wants a project story is to be believed, then it won't be psg. That's a one team league and if that's his idea of a project he's not the player he believes he can become. For me, it's either us (with the whole make is great again story with mourinho - plus he knows what living in Manchester is like, and let's face it, he's never once said he'll not move back because of the weather and that's a big thing for some players these days). I reckon we have a chance.

Would £200 million and Wayne Rooney swing it or should we up our bid to £150 million?

Nothing new on this?

Are those rumors of him wanting to stay another year credible?
