Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

This is it, isn't it?

The Sneijder, Thiago and Vidal threads will pale in comparison to this one in terms of muppetry.

I think Real Madrid will get him.

Don't want to get my hopes up, but it does seem according to most reports that United is willing to meet Juventus' asking price while Madrid is not. I hope it's not a classic case of everyone repeating the same news story again and again.

Where did you see that?

James Ducker track record:

1) Harry Kane - May 15, 2015:

"Manchester United are considering an ambitious £40 million move for Harry Kane, the Tottenham Hotspur and England striker, this summer."

2) Bastian Schweinsteiger - June 28, 2015

"James Ducker of The Times, wrote in his article yesterday that Bastian Schweinsteiger remains Manchester United’s prime midfield target in the summer"

3) James Wilson - September 1, 2015

"James Ducker, of the Times, reporting that James Wilson looks set to be leaving as things stand."

4) Nicolas Gaitan - May 29, 2015

"#MUFC got so sick of past Gaitan rumours that Gill ended up ringing Benfica president to say stop it. EW might soon want to do the same"

That's 3 out of 4 correct. We have a great chance of signing Pogba. Believe!!

#Pogba-ON

We have to pay £100m for the privilege of coaching him to be a better player?, while paying him a fortune even though he's not at the level he thinks himself to be.

£50k a week and we wouldn't have had to pay shyt!!

As exciting as it would be to get him, can't see it happening. Madrid most likely or Juve will just keep him.
Pretty sure Juventus will sell him if a bid of €100-€120m is made. And I'm quite confident we'll pay that. For me the only barrier will be Real Madrid. If France win the Euro's and Pogba is a key player they will do whatever it takes to get him.

I think Woodward would break the transfer record for a packet of peanuts just so we could say we had. He's desperate to do it.

Money doesn't seem to be an object so its all down to what Mourinho has in mind for the squad.

Actually money is an object contrary to popular belief. There is no bottomless pit of money at United despite record revenues. Glazers scrutinise every deal before agreeing to anything. That time when people accuse Woodward of dithering he will be waiting for go ahead from the Glazers. Unfortunately I cant find the link to the story on how during Martial deal Ed would call Glazers during negotiations each time he increased an offer and he would wait for an answer before increasing the bid and it went for the whole night. So Glazers call the shots not Ed

All things considered 90m for Pogba is very steep. The whole summer budget will be gone because Rantiola will need an arm and a leg as commission. There there are wages which are always a deal breaker in cases like this because wages are always more than transfer fee

I bet we'll spend around £200m this summer, assuming we get Pogba. It won't become a habit though because that level of spending is unsustainable. But I'm sure Mourinho will want considerable investment to start building a team he's happy with, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't assured of being given that investment.

Clearly the fee wouldn't be a problem if indeed the club went through with it, especially as we're likely getting Ibra on free and have only spent money on Bailly so far. And that's not counting potential outgoings which will make out net spend far less than the Pogba deal would infer. Mata, Young, Fellaini, Rojo, Valencia, Januzaj et al, all may be on the chopping block which would lessen the net spend considerably.

Eric + Pogba comes to about 130m (excl commissions) that means we are left with about 70m or less. Miki will cost 40m and Zlatan will want a substantial signing on fee since he is a free Agent. So the budget is already exhausted/ exceeded which means we will buy 3 players at most, or 4 at a stretch if we find a cheaper one. All these players will want huge salaries top of that.

We need to stop buying average talent. First step is to establish a good core which would last good for 4-5 years. Martial was the starting point last year and we all saw how that paid off. Let's not stop now, get Pogba and I bet we wouldn't be looking back. Throw everything at Juventus, worst case we would make Real sweat and that's always a good feeling

What kind of signing on fee are you expecting if you think all that exceeds 200m? It's only a year or two contract so it wont be that big

And you have used euros for Miki

This feels like one of those situations where United are used as the stalking horse to force, in this case, Real's hand.

Pogba for me is a no brainer.... 90m, who cares.
The money United make these days is obscene and dwarfs most within our league. We could pay 90m for this guy and still have a bigger transfer budget than Liverpool.
Clubs will spend within their budgets and so should we.

Pogba is one of the brightest talents around at the moment, and available for the right fee.
Him leaving when he did was our fault, and looking back from his point of view, he made a great decision.

We missed out on CL football this year so we need to be in it next year or Adidas slash their sponsorship money. That money over them years would pay for this transfer.

We won't be signing more than 4-5 players anyway.

Is the Kane one the one that's wrong? Because I fully believe that we would have made a move for Kane, even though it inevitably would have been rejected.

By how much, you reckon? At that rate we'd have more outgoing transfers than players coming in, when our squad is already threadbare

Guys don't do it to yourselves, he's a Madrid signing all over. There's no one I'd rather sign but there's not an ounce of me that believes it could happen.

:( can we still use this thread to just hang out and stuff? I just don't wanna go home
