Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Must. Not. Mullet.

Autocorrected from Muppet. It still works so I'm leaving it.

1 thing we know for sure, if there's a "star" signing available, Woodward will throw his hat in the ring.

Bale,Neymar, Ramos,Fabregas, Muller etc; we've always aimed high. I still think he will head to Madrid, but our new found dealings with Raiola give me a positive vibe. He will be very expensive, but who cares?

If we can get him it'll be worth every penny.

Is AS a reliable source?

No.

I don't know why transfer rumours like these attract people. Pogba will be going to a champions league club, also, the club isn't not going to sanction spending 60+ million on a player they let go for nothing.

Not going to happen.

Madrid will get Pogba. I think one of Kroos or Casemiro will see their playing time reduced. I would happily take one of those two instead of spending 120m on just one player who doesn't score or assist enough to be worth that price.

First part yes, second part no. It would make no difference that we let him go, if Mourinho wants him we'd sign him.

TFM will be our Pogba. Just wait!
Leave in a years time to gain first team opportunities and then become one of the most sort after midfielders in the world whilst we cry at the prospect of a 30+ year old Rooney waddle about doing feck all in midfield?

Yep, there's that possibility too!

In our squad we already have two. How many Pogba's do we have in the team?

How many games are Schweinsteiger and Carrick going to last? One is injury prone and the other is pushing onto 35. Also they both not as good as Kroos is currently.

I think his point is that we need Pogbas type. Goals and assists and physicality from CM, we also could do with a Kroos type player, but since we have a few maybe adding goals and creativity is a more pressing issue

This is a possibility lads. People place too much weight on CL. We have signed one of the best coaches in the world, with no CL. People need to chill with the assumption players won't join if we're not in the competition. 200K a week will soften the blow for him, trust me, it would for anyone. This would be the biggest statement of intent if we pulled it off. One more CB, along with, Bailly, Ibra, Micky and Pogba and i'd literally be cleaning my pants for weeks. I'm pretty sure we'd win the league. Make it happen Woody, make it happen.

I agree. Everyone "knows" that we'll be back in the CL very very soon - I'm confident that a lot of big players would jump on the chance of being a part of Mourinho's new project (yes, I like that term - deal with it).

James is a top level player. He'd be our best outfield player by a distance. Pogba is wanted by Madrid, so he's going there. Best make something out of that for ourselves.

Hell no, if we dont really want James then theres no reason to get him just because he is available. That only gives Madrid more money to put towards Pogba and get rid of a player they dont want.

If we are not getting Pogba, lets make them pay through the roof for him.

I usually get drawn in to these "sagas" (Vidal, Sneijder, Thiago) but not this time. Only for the simple reason is Real Madrid will pay whatever it takes to get him.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if Real Madrid planted stories about us making bids for him just so they can come in and gazump us and make us look silly again. Perhaps a little paranoid, but considering they are a club that photoshopped a picture of a friendly game to make it look like there were more white shirts than red, I honestly wouldn't put anything past that ridiculous club.

I don't believe they can out do us financially, this will be what Pogba prefers, I think he would prefer Real tbh. However don't underestimate the fact that United and Woodward in particular will want to prove a point here.

Another player that I wonder whether he's right for the Prem. The irony is, I think the reasons we let him go is still applicable. Clearly physically he grown but he's like an only child. Thinks everything revolves around him, and is selfish with it. When he's not getting his own way, can go missing. He's made for Real and they are welcome to him cause he'll be found out in the PL...

I was thinking about it and we pulled out of Renato Sanches which Bayern will be paying 80m euros. When I look at is like that I would much rather we pay 120 for Pogba than 80 for Sanches
The Sanches fee is largely subject to future successes of the player though, I think the initial fee was only something like €35m. That safeguards them to some extent if he were to flop.

I very much doubt Juventus would accept a structured deal like that for Pogba and I think it'd be unwise to splurge world-record money on him. Whilst a very good player, I think he's still more hype than actual substance and signing him alone wouldn't fix the midfield.

Of course they would, that's how all football deals are done. It'll be a LOT of haggling about how much is upfront, how much in guaranteed future payments, when they come, and then how much on top via theoretical payments (winning ballon d'or, etc). I'm sure it'll be weighted more towards the upfront/guarantee values than Sanches, of course.

*if this deal even happens

60m is guaranteed is has been revealed.
Also 120m some of that will be structured, in any case I still feel he goes to Real

Yeah, this is what I meant. Most, if not all of the fee will be guaranteed payments.

By who? Everywhere I've seen says €35m plus bonuses.

35m with 25m paid over a number of years, plus another 20m paid based on performances related bonuses.

AS are barcelona based newspaper arent they? May be they are mischief making and trying to spook madrid fans. This is common between madrid and barca press.

So which one is it? Which one will be the saga of this summer? Pogba or Mhiky... mkhiwey... that dortmund fellow?

Want both, I can take Hames as well

Nah AS and Marca are based in Madrid.

Can't see why we wouldn't want a world class player like James. Rooney isn't a reason, unless he really is somehow undroppable, no matter how much better the alternative is.

That was excellent though the photoshop thing. Slightly North Korean. I hope everyone seeing their version now knows the truth.

The only influence we have on this deal is forcing Madrid to pay more.

Pogba coming here for Europa? why do you fall for this
To be fair, he has played in a shit league for ages and probably doesn't fancy playing at yet another league dominated by the same team every year.

That's why he has his heart set on United!

He certainly looks a mourinho player, giving him the lampard role, while keeping one or two destroyers behind him. He's tall, fast, powerful, generally very athletic but honestly.. 120mill euros is fecking outrageous and I hope we don't pay it.

€ 120 mil may feel a lot but its the new €80 million. WestHam are targeting players for €40-50 million and thats paints the picture of the current transfer market. We need world class, potentially world class players in several position in the team to have any chance against Pep's Man C. In next 4-5 years when he's won it all here , he can jump to madrid and we'll recoup the fee back or more.Treat it like a freaking investment and get the damn guy.

What am I missing? Leave's himself wide open here!

I'm aware that it's all just hot air, but for once I'm thinking maybe, this time, it might just be better if we miss out on him.

I keep watching him and I just don't get it! He's a great footballer admittedly. However, to command £100m you still have to be exceptional (even in this day and age) and surely I'd have seen more than just a sniff of it by now … wouldn't I?

United have literally been falling over themselves to spend a world transfer fee for the past 3 years. If they want to spend it on Pogba, so let it be. It's not as though €120m will break United.

I feel the same. He looks like he could, perhaps even should become very special, but surely for that money you want something a bit closer to the finished article?

People are buying the hype about him so in terms of marketing he'd likely the next big thing.

He often shows world class type ability totaling a combined 10mins~ a game and yet half the time you're not sure he's on the pitch. He was the same in our youth.

I think he'd make a great advanced midfielder for a Mourinho team, but the fee is absolutely disgusting, when Ronaldo and Bale went for 80/85mill they'd shown they could consistently dominate week in, week out, in Ronaldo's case he was undoutedly the best player on the planet, Pogba is nowhere near that level yet and theres no absolute guarantee he will become the dominant player the fee suggests. For smashing the world record you would want something approaching the finished article. For me he's nowhere near it yet.
