I think we would be wise to try to extend after 2 years. I said the same with Ronaldo - we have to 'adopt' his agent. Keep it friendly. They use us and we use them. It might not even come to that and he might be happy to extend etc. If he extended then we could be smart about it. A release clause similar to Neymar upwards.
We also have an advantage in that Madrid would be the only stupid club to mess with us (realistically), so we could also look for money p/x for a player. But let's start winning.
