Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

People need to chill out, the deal is obviously done, that pic of Ed smiling confirms it to me, if he was pictured like that having lost out he'd have so much stick it would be unreal, everything Juve are doing now is for their fans, so they can put on a front, Ed knows it's in the bag and people need to calm down.

Football agents are really annoying. A growing cancer on the industry.

Surely if there's anybody who has been frustrating with this deal it's been Juventus? Although I understand why they're being difficult, since they don't want to sell.

Hope you're being sarcastic ...

I think if this transfer wasnt going to go through then there would be numerous other leaks to other players coming out.

Man smiling in photograph = done deal? Was Woody just going to permanently have a face like thunder if it fell through? Walking around like that scene in Airplane, just kicking the shite out of anyone who talks to him.

So it's not tonight then...

You expected a transfer to be announced on a Sunday night? While the Pogcrew are in Miami and Ed/Jose are in China?

At best another update from di Marzio, probably adding nothing new, later this evening. But most likely things will kick off mid-week, I reckon.

Oh great, let's spend a billion and a half to get a Champions League trophy.

That's what football and United is all about isn't it?

Sir AF "Yes? Get with the times or get left behind."

"Get with the times"

I'll never get with that.... not why I've supported United for 40 years and NEVER will be. I appreciate football is mainly about money now but £100m for an over-rated midfielder is stupid.

If that floats your boat, good for you.... you'll probably enjoy the European League when it comes.

Juventus and their fans should remember that they took Pogba, a player we developed at our academy, from us for peanuts. They turned his head whilst he was at the club and have been reaping the rewards of our work for the past few years.

Spoilt hypocritical little club.

I want to see United win the most important trophies, so I will most certainly not enjoy that. "Get with the times" is referring to the fact that you have to spend big to keep up.

It sucks, but they don't owe us anything.

They're trying to get as much $$$ as they can. It's good business.

If not, then they keep their player. They are in a win-win situation.

I hope we say no if Juve don't accept our latest offer. Stupid money for one player in the end.

All of these leaks from Juventus about how hard they are fighting to keep him....

Just the club preparing the fans and window dressing to allow time for the old lady to fix her make up, pull up her pants and take the walk of shame the next morning.

But we all know what happened and Woody left with a big smile.

20 years ago it was 30 million, now it's half a billion, but it's the same thing. It's just that the whole industry is so much bigger and, consequently, there's much more money in it. As a percent of income, United is spending a similar amount of money as it was in the 90's.

From one Welsh Manc to another...... my thoughts exactly, though seems some on here would pay £150m, £20m fees, their first born and wipe Allegri's arse for a month if they could see Pogba back in a red shirt.

It's not our money though is it? Why some fans care about how much money the club spends on a player is beyond me. I could understand it if the club would announce that they will raise the ticket prices and the merchandise prices because they spent 150M on a player. But it doesn't work that way. At the end of the day we want to see the best and the most exciting players wearing the red shirt, instead of somehow feeling better that the club "saved money".

United are one of the richest clubs in the world, the money might as well go on players. So yeah Id rather spend a billion and a half on the best players than let the Glazers or whoever pocket it. What else would we do with the millions the club makes?

Spend it on new jumpers for goalposts, obviously.

Exactly. This idea of being outraged at the club spending big bucks to keep up with the other elite clubs is just.. puzzling.

Make it more cheap to watch United at OT?

Like others might have said, it's eerily quiet. If we wasn't signing him, it would have been all over the media by now.

I am feeling quite pessimistic about it all now, midweek I was feeling very positive.

It's been a bit of a saga but only because we have access to 24 hour news and social media now. In the old days, we would turn on the radio one morning to learn that we had signed Bryan Robson.

It was nothing like this.

Well when you consider what we've seen the past 3 seasons the tickets are too much based on the level of entertainment. I think it's better spent on the players. It generates so much excitement. We all want it cheaper - but at the same time you go down that route and suddenly you are newcastle united. I mean if you think about it - they could have had free admission for the last few seasons..eventually people wouldn't want to go because it was worse then shit on a stick. Though that was the managers tactics, I think ever since we sold Ronaldo, we've become complacent. We stopped looking to improve on the players we have and now we have to focus on bringing in quality players.

The players are muppets. They want to see the best players come to United. Pogba is one of them and with more responsibility in a greater league - we'll be a better team.

It is. And hailing it as some sort of achievement - as some do - is even more stupid.

I like the player, though - so I don't mind us buying him. And we can obviously afford it, so it ain't that. But getting giddy over us breaking the transfer record for Pogba isn't really my cup of tea, put it like that.

Your first paragraph is full of contradiction. Maybe take a break, it's Sunday after all.

Juventus pretty much did the same as we did when we signed him from Le Havre. Got a player for next to nothing as he had no contract and wanted to leave the club he was at. We didnt give him the money he wanted from all accounts or play him enough, both of which at the time were right in my opinion, ironically he probably would have been a started the following year for us. They got a fantastic deal and to be frank he has probably developed and had far more success than he would have during that period had he remained with us.

The fact they dont want to sell him and are pushing for a ridiculous fee is totally within there rights, not to mention the fact its highly likely we are going to pay close to what they want. Fair play to them, it is s stupid fee but not in the same stupidness ball park of what they are paying for Higuain

Spot on. Besides, compared to Arsenal for instance, it is still not that expensive to go to OT.

You know the whole " it doesn't matter that he cost X amount, we'll make that back in shirt sales"

Is that complete bollocks? Surely Adidas would be the beneficiaries.
Why do you think we get that big shirt deal from Adidas? Because they can sell a lot of shirts? They sell more shirts, we can get an even bigger deal.

I want Pogba to come back but there's got to be a limit mun.

We have to use our strength to our advantage or get left behind. If you have that attitude, within 2/3 seasons we loose this talent or that talent. You want to keep Martial? De Gea? You have to show these players your ambition. The fact is, if the club has a problem it will pull out but I hope it doesn't. We pulled out for Ramos - and I don't think we truly wanted him. (however it reflects poorly on us)

The game we knew, isn't coming back. When you spend this kind of money, you have to plan ahead and keep on top of situations. When you think where we finished last season, and for 2/3rds of it we didn't attack teams at all....then this should be enough to get us into the champions league with this team. It might even be enough to challenge for the league. More importantly it gives players belief. It gives people a buzz. That's what they are buying.

Hope. Hope that after 3 years we might see some of the old United. Why not? We will not recover if we adopt your attitude. Your attitude, is the 'value' attitude....it's cost us a lot of players and money...Take Hazard. We didn't pay a few more million to get him. This summer, we could have got double our money probably - if we wanted too..

We need to be more aggressive. We also need to see the improvements in Depay, Adnan, Morgan. If we see that then we're motoring.
