Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Seemed like a basic deflection talk to me. He made it sound as if Pogba was number 1 on the shortlist for that position and in praising Woodward to such a large degree, that makes me conclude that it's all but done. Think people are getting last minute jitters, but this deal is done for me.
Exactly my thinking. Nothing he said was really negative or hinting the deal was off. The only sly thing he said is it wouldn't surprise him if we didn't sign pogba because they were holding us to ransom. That'll get sorted, it's not something you just walk away from.

Could it be that Raiola is flying out because he needs to discuss a new offer from Madrid? This happened around the time that their alternative midfield target was snapped up by Barca after all. They'll be desperate to save face now....£100m desperate?

No, if he wanted to discuss RM's offer he'd have just called him. He's taken some papers with him and he's flying to get Pogba's signature.

Raiola is not flying to miami to deliver a message, hes delivering a contract that has to be signed and witnessed in person i would imagine

I get the feeling some of you guys are scared to look under your own bed out of fear Real Madrid are hiding there

Reading this thread is unbearable at times. The pessimism and insecurity is incredible. Never seen anything like it.

People should man up and stop underrate their club so much. we're Man United ffs!

No-one is underrating anything. Those clubs are more attractive than us, hence why we have to over compensate with excessive money. It's a tough pill to swallow but the truth. It's even been accepted that Pogba who we are supposedly paying unbelievable money for preferred Madrid.

They are better at football and play in a better country where you can have barbecues. But we have the money to make up for that.

The problem is that if we pay in installment, Juventus will pay Pogba and Raiola in installments too. I highly doubt that they are going to just sign a 20m cheque to them and that's problematic because Raiola and Pogba want their money as soon as possible, I suppose that they don't intend to wait 4 years to have all their money.

I'm no football transfer expert mate but i will hazard a guess that United will not be paying £100m to Juve in a lump sum. Like most transfers the payments will be staggered.

And why would Pogba and his agent care if they got their money tomorrow or in installments they are both millionaires already it's not like they need it tomorrow to pay the rent.

Why? What has he done to deserve a 10-20% cut (if reports are to be believed) of the transfer fee?

I understand the part about doing his best for his client, but there's a lot of self-enriching involved in this deal as well. Ludicrous money for simply being a glorified PA.

The sad state of football these days is that there are now three parties involved in a transfer: the club, the player and the arsehole agent.
It is an agreement between Raiola, Pogba and Juve. If Juve had a problem with it, the should have raised it when they signed him.

Because apparently it's a gentleman agreement and I know that it will most likely be paid in installment, we don't know how much though.

Let me get this straight - Pogba is in Miami? And Raiola is flying there to meet him? If so then I imagine it's a done dealio.

Gentlemen's agreement or legally binding contract Pogba and his agent won't give a feck whether United or Juve pay them their cut. They know they will be paid either way or the transfer will not happen.

Even if it was a verbal agreement which i doubt, but lets say it was. When the transfer is finalized there will be written contracts signed to ensure they get their cut.

Because for some bizarre reason they see United as beneath them. But they are ok with him going to Spain because in their minds it's ok as they are the only two sides bigger than Juve.

Juve only play in a 41,000k stadium OT is almost twice the size and they haven't even won the Champions league in over 20 years United have won it twice in that time. 10 years ago they were relegated and playing in Serie B, they didn't even win a major trophy for nearly 10 years in that decade United won 10 trophies. So they really have no reason to be looking down their noses at United because we have only won one trophy in the last 3 years.

Having said all that i'm sure most Juve fans are much more reasonable and proud that they support one of the worlds biggest clubs without the need to feel insecure about other clubs being bigger than them.

Juve is a great club and I have a soft spot for them because of that Zidane - ADP era team, but there's some weird ass fans there. Just mind boggling that they'll allow Real to do this to them, but everyone else, it's an insulting thing to even comprehend. They're mad at Bayern for taking Vidal too, so it's really just the Spanish giants!

How do you know it's in United's favor? Madrid would have decided to come back in to the deal and hence Riola would have gone to Pogba to discuss it further? Not trying to rub it in or anything, just really curious why everyone is believing it's a done deal when the agent himself is saying otherwise?

That Raiola would fly from Europe to Miami to "discuss" something with Pogba is unreasonable. That would be done over phone.

IF Raiola is on his way to Miami it is to get Pogbas signature on something, probably a contract with us or some other club.

An offer would be discussed over phone. You fly for a signature.

It's about 2012.

So James only made it clear a couple of hours ago that he wanted to stay? And RM only realised a couple of hours ago the same? Then they withdraw and some minutes later Barca agree a deal?
Journalism at its finest!

I don't get why people are so scared of Real Madrid, the deal is so advanced that I don't see it being possible for them to come in and sign him at the last minute.
If they weren't prepared to spend big before, why would they do it now?

And when we do sign him people are going to be worrying about him leaving for Madrid for a while, people need to chill out and be happy about what the club is trying to achieve at this moment in time, and be happy about Pogba being back at the club.

Look at our transfer window, it's been pretty awesome and I expect Mourinho to continue to bring in other players once the Pogba deal is confirmed, people need to relax and enjoy the buzz around the club at the moment.

Compare it to how it was a couple of months ago, the difference is massive, we actually have things to look forward to.

To be fair, i imagine he could probably e-mail the document to him and Pogba could sign it on a tablet/ipad and send it back without meeting face to face, but you could say with the money involved they want to be ultra secure?

In what world would he play to Miami to tell him Madrid are now interested? If he is flying there it is most likely something that needs to be done in person. Like signing a contract.

Thats the way I'm looking at it anyway.

Why would he need to fly out to discuss that? Telephones were invented some time ago for a reason!

...is the gist of what everyone is saying, but perhaps he's off to present their offer. That's how the media say it happened with us.

Yes, I'm paranoid. I wasn't always this way! The various recent saga's ending in disappointment having looked so promising have worn me down...

Why would he travel to Miami to discuss a possible move to Real?
He'd be able to do that over the phone in a matter of seconds, for him to interrupt his holiday must be something that needs sorting asap would it not?

He would only fly there to get a signature. Everything else could and would be sorted over phone or similar.

IF Raiola has flown to Miami it probably means that Pogba will have to sign something. Which clubs are in the game I don't know.

My fecking word. Some of you people.

So Madrid backed out of trying for Pogba because of the price and Gomes was their second choice but somehow they let Barcelona beat them because they wouldn't do better than the 35m+20m (half of what Pogba will be) Barcelona is paying and so now they are going to circle back and pay the money they originally weren't going to pay??

That scenario makes feck all sense.

Who says Real have been priced out of the Gomes deal ?

Gomes may just like the prospect of playing for Barca more than for Madrid, wouldn't be the first one either.

Real may have first backed out of Pogba because they tought €120m for him was excessive and €50m for Gomes seemed a better deal for them. Now that Gomes has decided to go to Barca, they may come back for Pogba, even if he cost more, it might suddenly be acceptable for them because the alternative is gone and they don't want to end up empty handed. Real phoned Raiola to say they were interested again and made an improved contract offer for Pogba, Raiola took off to Miami to discuss it with Pogba who is there now on Holiday.

Other scenario is, Real wanted Pogba but unsure about the price they would have to pay, Gomes was considered as an option but eventually Perez changed his mind and decided he wanted Pogba more than Gomes, making the decision easy for Gomes to go to Barca. Real asked to Raiola to hold off any deal between United and Juve because they were undecided and promised him they would come to a decision soon, which they now have and Raiola flew to Miami to discuss it with Pogba.

It actually makes more sense them him flying to Miami to finalize a United deal, because according to Di Marzio we had already agreed all the details with Pogba and it was just a matter between finding an agreement with Juve, ironing out the details between United, Juve and Raiola wouldn't require him to go to Miami, to discuss a new option with Pogba, that would. Would also explain why there has been such a hold up on the deal because first and foremost Raiola wants to give Pogba the deal that he wants, has always been my feeling that United were only second choice because Real weren't interested enough and doubting over move but if that has changed it could throw off the deal.

Won't be surprised if this suddenly takes a big U turn and ends with Pogba to Madrid

Got 0 faith in these big transfer sagas, especially if we are up against the likes of Madrid, Barca or Bayern.

Lets hope Real will want to sell us James if they land Pogba

Are there any beings in existence greedier than football agents?

I hate agents as much as the next guy but its Juve being greedy here, and are totally out of order.
They agreed to a 20% agent cut if/when Pogba was ever sold, now he's being sold and they want to go back on that and have us pay the 20%.
Juve are fecking twats and i have a major headache now over all this shite.
I'm off.

As mentioned several times, he could discuss Real's offer (if they even presented one, which I doubt as Marca, their mouth piece says the complete opposite) over the phone. If the reports are true and he is on his way to Miami it's to finalise something, not to discuss.

To be fair, i imagine he could probably e-mail the document to him and Pogba could sign it on a tablet/ipad and send it back without meeting face to face, but you could say with the money involved they want to be ultra secure?

I don't think that kind of signature would be valid.

I really don't know though. But I believe it is the most plausible suggestion.

So your assuming that Raiola is flying to Miami to meet with Pogba about Madrid. Calm the feck down for Christ sake no one knows why he's going there.

I've said it a hundred times already but this pessimism really grates on me.

Where is Pogba's hair for confirmation on his next club? Any new pics after the hairdresser sent out the photos?

What I have read about him so far is that he bothers for only 2 games per year and that against Arsenal.
Yeah that's the real problem with him. He's very inconsistent. Saying that Newcastle as a team were dreadful last season. In a bigger team, in a different set up, he may well impress.

IF Raiola has flown to Miami it probably means that Pogba will have to sign something. Which clubs are in the game I don't know.

What would Pogba have to sign ?

Player putting his signature under everything is the last step of a transfer. That happens when everything is agreed and the player has passed his medical tests. I don't see why Raiola would need to fly to Miami for that, if it is for signing something, I'd say it is Pogba who would be flying to a United medical center to do his test and to meet up with United officials to sign everything.

No this feels like something new came up which Raiola had to discuss with Pogba in person instead of over the phone. A new offer from Madrid, all the financial details, promises the club made, housing and accomodation options, weighing it off to everything that was already agreed with United, that is something Raiola would want to do in person and not over the phone.

It seems unlikely that Real would reenter the bidding at the eleventh hour. They've had ample time to think about the deal in the last month and clearly decided that Juves asking price was too high. United's interest won't bring the price down. If they wouldn't pay the going rate two weeks ago why would they cough up even more now?

It's about 2012.

I know the agreement was made in 2012. But if United, Juve and Raiola/Pogba make an agreement now on who is paying this cut to Raiola then you can be fecking sure he will want it in writing from either or both clubs to ensure payment.

Raiola is flying to Miami to meet Pogba to tell him that Real Madrid are interested.

Brilliant theory

Need to take a break from this thread. Hopefully see more news Friday regarding this.
