Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

SKY Italia saying our first offer of €103m will be rejected, why would we mess about making an offer then.

Woody should make an offer that will be acceptable and jist get it done
Why because the first offer is pretty much always rejected, regardless of how much it is, simply because the selling team will know the buying will increase their offer.

£60M then.
At least we won be spending £120M or whatever the cost is for Pogba.

I've seen Veratti brought up about a million times in this thread. I want to know what all those posters are smoking if they think PSG will sell Veratti for less than the figures quoted for Pogba. You're talking about the most valuable player on a team with no financial limits. Their chairman offered to pay Messi's release clause if Barca continued to tap up Thiago Silva. Veratti is possibly the most unreachable transfer target currently out there, and that's including Messi/Ronaldo/Neymar.

WOW you've clearly never haggled before. Don't tell me you rock up to the supermarket check out and pay their first price demanded?. You always start low everybody knows that

I think a lot of that is usually leaked and choreographed to make it look publicly like they've fought to keep him and negotiated the best deal etc.

I don't think any club ever has accepted a first offer. First offer is usually a base offer to start real negotiations. We offer 100 million, Juve wants 120 million. I guess the final fee will be around 110-115 million.
Agree with this. they will probably accept an offer by wednesday/thursday

The idea is to meet somewhere roughly in the middle of what both parties want. Have to work out how the payment would be structured, money up front, bonuses, etc.

Woodward gets a lot of stick for his lack of negotiation skills, but the idea he should just throw juventus however much they want up front with no haggling down, structuring of payments, percentage in bonuses, etc is even more of a joke.

Wish LvG was still here so he could turn him into a classy winger.

I think any doubts of this happening will be all gone by thursday, but who knows when we will officially announce it, we're hardly quick at that are we.

I'm sure our PR men would like it announced in time for the China tour. It'd be PR gold. Can you imagine the number of Pogba jerseys that would be sold?!

Because its common sense. If you are willing to pay 120m Euros, you dont start off with a bid of 120m. You start lower, make your way up and who knows you can end up saving 5-10m Euros.

You haggle in supermarkets?

If i haggled over a pint of milk in Asda i would probably get kicked out!

I understand the comcept of bidding low etc, what i am saying is that i was under impression that Raoila was aware of the offer Juve would accept, surely?

What the hell this makes no sense...

Is Woodward briefing sky by saying "Hey Sky, we will offer 103M Euros for Pogba"

or

Are Juve saying "Hey Sky, we predict that United will over 103 Million euros but we will reject it"

or

Sky reporters are hiding under the desks of Woodward and Juve board members.

or

Sky can see into the future and predict exactly how much united will offer and that Juve will reject it.

These are literally the only options for that statement from Sky Italia to be true and they are all as ridiculous as each other.

"Good gents of Juventus, my offer shall be a world record ... ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR MILLION EUROS"
"Oh... wow shit, that's a lot of mon..." (whispers: sir, sky italia said we'd reject it) "... but I cannot possibly accept such a feeble amount!"

"Fair price" Hilarious!

Let's use your steak analogy. It's "worth" it to you if you pony up and pay the £75. What is a "fair price" anyways? How much overhead does this restaurant have, where did they get the steak from? How much went into presenting this steak to you? Trained chefs or no? Trained wait staff or no? Good ambiance or crap hole? Special occasion or just quick lunch before heading back to the office? So many things factor into "worth" or perceived worth for particular individuals or organizations then we'll get no where with "worth".

One way of defining "worth" is what X pays for Y, you might not agree with their valuation and think they overpaid but don't get all riled up about it.

Ok the steak example is fine, you have to weigh in all the mentioned factors and finally decide if you're willing to buy it for that price. That, for me, is the definition if a product is "worth" it to me.

Same goes for Pogba:
-team needs
-history
-age
-character
-talent
-probability of reaching potential
-work rate
-affect on team chemistry
-sponsor potential
-willing to stay?

+ a thousand more factors to finally come to a value, where you think you'd have a good deal. Always compared to other players in today's market.

So you come to the conclusion that Pogba is worth around 150M to us. We begin the talks at 80M and will stop if Juve won't sell at 150, it's that simple.
We won't bid 200M, because he's NOT WORTH that to our club.
And there are fans who think he's worth even 200 and some who thinks he isn't even worth 100. A matter of opinions and no one is right.
However, I trust Mourinho and Staff more to weight in the factors above than the average caf poster, this is why I'd still be happy if we 'overpaid' a little for him.

King Johnno was right all a long this is pogba week and if he got that right I'm sure he is right that pogba is coming home.

Cheers mate.

How would Raiola know what Juventus want? He knows what the player wants in terms of salary but how what the club wants? He doesnt work for Juventus.

I don't want to get banned for this as I'm not wumming but it looks like it says Pogba above Fellaini on Mourinho's tactics board.

That's too funny.

I know you are joking but thats not as crazy as it sounds. He is such a unique midfielder, that when he gets into the box, he starts to dribble like a young Ronaldo. The doubters are going to be silenced when they finally see him strut his stuff at Old Trafford. He's such a complete midfielder.

I cannot see pogba's name on that mourinho writes like a 10 year old child by the looks of it.
