This transfer has 'that feeling' to me...

'That feeling' being, at worse, a Ramos, Fabregas, Vidal type affair where the player/agent uses United's new found 'announce our intentions' transfer strategy to get either a better deal from their current club, or a better wage from their new club.

Or, at best, a di Maria type transfer, where the player would rather be elsewhere - i.e Madrid, PSG, Barca etc - but comes to United as a stop-gap to their 'dream move'.

Maybe I'm just a bit cynical from the aforementioned transfer sagas. But added to that, the fact we let this lad go (erroneously) for free, really makes me feel weird about the club paying such a high price for him.

Something about it all just doesn't feel right.

I dunno, 105m could buy you a top midfielder and a top CB.

The price etc could already be agreed, we could make an announcement that we've agreed a deal pending a medical - but more than likely it'll all in a few weeks.

That wouldn't help Juve though which must come into play. Juve when they sold Zidane - spent the money. I'm sure they'd want to do the same. If we announced anything, that would mean they accepted the fee and have that money in due course to spend. So I agree, most certainly the latter if anything.

You nutters with feelings should get out of this thread. You people are always negative vampires. I wonder why that is :)

So the timeline goes:

July 2012 - Man United sell Pogba on a free never to be heard of again
May 19th-June 25th - Tabloid articles linking Pogba in world record deal to Man United and Real Madrid e.g. The Sun exclusive 29th May 2016 - Mouriniho wants Pogba
June 25th - United interested in huge offer for Pogba - Di Marzio
July 4th - Stories that a deal is close. John Richardson claims Pogba is going to United. Newspaper claims Mouriniho has told friends Pogba will sign.
July 6th - Di Marzio says personal terms agreed with the agent over a world record transfer
July 7th - Sky Sports confirm Man United are in talks over a world record deal - 43 pages on the Pogba thread today
July 8th - L'Equipe claim United have held meetings and Pogba is open to return
July 8th - Balague says Pogba is United bound and Madrid can not compete with what United want to pay.
July 9th - BBC Sport confirm interest but say deal not imminent
July 10th - France's European Championship ends - Pogba goes on holiday
July 11th - Sky claim Real Madrid no longer chasing Pogba
July 11th-July 18th - Nothing concrete. Caf resorts to begging for ITK posters to say something.
22nd July - Pogba returns from holiday
How do you know it will be 22 July?

Ibra
Martial | Mickey
Pogba | Herrera/Morgan/Andreas
Carrick/Blind/Schweinsteiger

Can't wait for these line-ups next season.

Technically, you are infringing the "Criticse the post not the poster" rule, technically you should be sanctioned, would it be fair?

Logically banning a member for a post is criticizing the poster and not the post. There can be no justification for "Some people get special treatment...tis the way of the world."

José Mourinho was told that Real Madrid had removed themselves from the race to sign Paul Pogba despite the intention of Mino Raiolaand the player himself to keep their options open. But Manchester United took the news with a pinch of salt and will not give up on their pursuit of the France midfielder until he is photographed wearing the red shirt, which I am convinced is what will happen.

Chuck it - It happens, you've worked hard to get promoted to the mains. Don't get in arguments with mods of caf, as it only ends in one way. :D
Suck it up & move on! Implement the Wenger's "I did not see it" philosophy :wenger:

Now let's discuss Pogba!

This again? As was repeated so many times throughout this thread, please name a top defender and a top midfielder who we could acquire for 105 million.

The lad, provided he is a success of course, will pay for a significant portion of his fee himself; trophies and the subsequent prize money, merchandise sales, a transfer of this magnitude involves more than just a football player.

Also, you mentioned that you don't really like spending a huge sum to bring back a former player who we let go for free. Surely it's better to swallow one's pride and rectify the mistake instead of letting him join another club and rip it up there?

Sure there can, it's a private forum and we make the rules.

Spot on.

Read somewhere he is back Friday.
Ahhh, in which case he probably had only 9 days annual leave entitlement when he applied to his line manager for holiday (all of last week and only 4 days this week). Poor planning on his part, but it means the transfer should go through this Friday! I usually piggy back onto the end of a Bank Holiday to get myself 2 full weeks! Good planning can get you a long holiday in xmas or easter.

:)

I agree with the majority of your post - but not the part where you hint that a top defender and a top midfielder can't be aquired for £105 million. That is of course a strange thing to say considering what Leicester paid for a couple of decent players last year. I am however all for signing Pogba

That's fair enough I suppose. I'm a big fan of equality and can't help but see holes in logic. But like they say in the states, it is what it is. Whether people wum or not or get banned or not doesn't really bother me in any way whatsoever. Poor arguments and arrogant use of authority does bother me. If this forum is set up to embrace old timers' power trips I will bow out graciously. Nothing worse than a person with a little power and a big ego.

The real difference is how obnoxious you are, not how old. Spoony didn't spoilt the thread and didn't lost his temper like the precedent poster that's why he is fine.

I think you need to take this matter a bit more seriously. This is the internet after all.

it was reported recently thatPogba had told friends that his aim was to make a return to Old Trafford. In reality, Madrid was the side where he really wanted to ply his trade,
Had to sneak that in Balague huh...

Looks like Raiola and Juventus want him to go to United but Pogba wants to play for Madrid. I am half expecting a deadline announcement that United have been gazumped by Morata and James Rodriguez going to Juventus in exchange plus cash and us signing someone we've never heard of for 50m instead.

Well it widely accepted as being the case, don't get the hate for Balague. Player prefers Madrid. Shock.
He is barely reliable nowadays. Plus he made the whole dig at United last week when we outbid Madrid and about how Pogba doesnt actually want to move to Manchester and play in the Europa League. He couldnt get over, and by the looks of it still hasnt gotten over, the fact that we outbid Madrid.

£50m Unknown signing on deadline day? Worked out well last time.

It really irritates me when people have a pop at Woodward. He's tried each season to deliver a big signing so hardly his fault when they don't come off for whatever reason.

How anyone knows who is dilly dallying or whatever else is beyond me. If we end up getting Pogba on deadline day so what.
I actually considered buying the new home kit with his name on it. So many people give him a hard time but I actually like his desire to only buy worldclass players. He did bring dimaria and falcao regardless of how that turned out. Now look at us this window. Yet you will have muppets a month from now complaining if we don't sign pogba.

Ya balague is coming off like a cnut throwing his toys out the pram on this one. This was suppose to be the transfer of the summer and it involved balague's beloved La Liga. I'm sure he was getting ready to be all over Sky to talk Pogba to Madrid.

Also anyone believing him on the "Pogba definitely prefers Madrid" stuff, balague was the guy that sat there adamantly for months saying Van Gaal was staying. Hell I think he even said it again the day of the FA Cup

Let's believe the guy who said
One thing, I have been told, is certain. Van Gaal, as it stands in this volatile world of football, will continue as manager, fully supported by the MU Board

Google image is full of meme's that suggest the internet is in fact, serious business. Of course I shall not post any here, as the rules are against that sort of thing.

Back on the subject of Pogba, sounds like we can expect a quiet week (at least in terms of actual activity) followed by an explosion of new rumors and discussion one he returns from this holiday he is on.

Not saying it's untrue but its largely on the say so of Ballague. If Pogba wanted to engineer a move to Real, it would be in motion by now, even if Real couldn't match our transfer fee.

I'm of the opinion that he wouldn't mind joining United but he is also content with staying at Juve.
