I am strictly talking about transfers that United, in its current situation, can pull off and has been able to pull of in the past few years. How about you name me one world class player we have got in past six-seven or so years with our 'unlimited' budget? Even better, name me one player that United landed whom either Bayern, Real or Barca were concretely interested in? Thiago? Vidal? Ramos? Kroos? James Rodriguez? Bale? And do not name that one player who was being moved out of the club but couldn't go to his favorite one because of FFP and later ended up making the switch in one year anyway. We got Mata who was being moved out of Chelsea and I don't think Real, Barca or Bayern were in for him. Those are United's two most expensive signings recently. So there is a pattern you choose not to see.
1. Juventus do not want to sell.
2. If a world class player (I am referring to the cream of the crop) wants to force a move away, his likely destination will most probably be Real, Barca or Bayern going by previous six-seven years of history.
Frankly, it baffles me how you cannot see the signs out there. Again, let me reiterate, I would be more than happy to be wrong in this case and of course there is a 0.99% chance that a series of events will lead Pogba to United.
There is so much wrong with this reply, I'll try to be as logical as possible.
1. What current situation are we in, financially we have the capability to finance whatever transfer we deem necessary, please do not mistake this statement for anything other than a look at our financial power,
echoed by holding the record fee in England.
2. I cannot name a single world class player that we've signed in the past years.
3. Juventus do not want to sell, but money talks; we didn't want to sell Ronaldo, Tottenham didn't want to sell
Bale, Liverpool didn't want to sell torres, Arsenal didn't want to sell van persie, if every club got what they wished because they didn't want to sell, half of the transfers that happen, wouldn't of.
4. The trends you talk about, are trends, yes, it's a transfer that is out of the norm, and a sum which we haven't even grazed before, but these are trends, you can attempt to predict something based on recent history but it still doesn't eliminate the possibility of it happening.
5. Where did 0.99% come from? what does that even represent, you mean to say if we attempted to buy a young player for 100m on 100 different occasions, we would fail 99 times?
to conclude...
I quoted you, because you implied you could easily tell the difference between a transfer that will or is likely to happen, and one that is just journalism for clicks.
So again, I implore you to provide evidence for this, if this is solely based on the fact that in recent years we have not signed anyone world class, and have not ever reached a transfer fee of that scale, then your points are completely unfounded.
We've just signed a world class manager in Mourinho, and a world class player in Zlatan, plus we've broken our personal highest transfer fee twice in the past couple of years.
