Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

We know about Madrid but if you believe all you read, Madrid cannot afford him. They are not in the race. So at this stage, he'll either stay or join United should we bid and it be accepted. There is plenty of reasons why he might want to move back to England including Family. So let's be a bit optimistic, especially since Madrid are not in the race.
This

And it likely Real will be banned from transfers in 2017 and real being Real the chances are that Zidane won't be there either.

Been looking at stats comparing him with comparable players in the other big leagues (although I've probably forgotten someone).

Obviously, the Euros is a crap way to judge any player but there's at least some evidence that the flaws we saw in his game in France were an issue at Juventus last season. Makes a lot less passes than some of his peers (presumably because he's not great at finding space, which was really noticeable at the Euros) and a bit too fond of a Hollywood pass. Ken Early from Second Captains called him the French Steven Gerrard and I can't shake the analogy.

Obviously, bags of talent but not sure he's really all that much better than the best of the rest. Still be an exciting signing, if we get him, but I suspect he will divide opinions on here.

This deal is no less likely today than it was a day ago, or two days ago, and yet you'd think Pogba had released a video of himself kissing the badge on a Juve shirt, and then burning a Utd shirt.

You were doing so well until you started talked about Sky Sports. They are useless i'm afraid.

It usually means that the club have briefed someone like Andy Burton when they have the ticker scrolling across the screen. I don't mean their transfer talk rumour sections or anything like that which as you rightly say, are a load of rubbish.

They did the yellow ticker for Aubameyang and City earlier in the window. They're just a waste of time unfortunately.

The clues can be found by reading the previous pages of this thread.
Problem is..... after reading every statement by any caf member, I get more confused..... more and more confused.
The good part about Vidal thread was that no body was against that transfer

If you're confused, this thread isn't likely to clear anything up. Best to wait until all our transfer business is done.

From your stats it's obvious that he plays further forward - hence his leadership in assists, goals and take-ons. If you pick someone like Isco, you'll see that the statistics allocation is almost similar, but Pogba is slightly better at most (Isco makes more passes, but the difference isn't as big as it is when we compare him to Vidal or Kroos.

But I agree that Gerrard is, sadly, a good analogy so far (although Pogba lacks his engine) - hopefully Pogba will develop into a more intelligent player, with the time being on his side.

I don't think that Pogba alone would be enough to transform our midfield, but if he'll be paired with some genuine playmaker ala Scholes (Verratti is probably the best example but it will be impossible to sign him), and no one would expect for him to control the game, he'll be absolutely devastating.

Well Pogba doesnt slip as often so he has got that over Gerrard.:D

And his trophy cabinet is already comparable :D 4 league titles. If not for the loss in the CL final I would've called him more successful already (plus he managed to accomplish more at the international level than Gerrard did)

Great post, well said

I mentioned this before but he is THIRD in Europe in terms of marketability for adidas behind Cristiano and Messi.

At United in the PL, he could become the no 1 most recognized footballer in the world in the coming years as those two wind down their careers.

The agent nor the player has said anything so far regarding their preference for Spain. I dont know where you get this inclination from.

Exactly. There is zero evidence he wants to go to Spain whatsoever.

So funny how people on here comparing him to Gerrard as a negative - top 5 ever premier league midfielder! If he becomes as good as Gerrard then we'll have an absolute bargain.

A 23 year old Gerrard would be the dream signing.

If Pogba becomes half the player he was, £100m will look a snip.

Starting to wonder if this is just Raiola agitating interest from us to get an improved contract for pogba. I might be wrong but Raiola was very so-so in his comments about the likelihood of a transfer compared to what we were hearing from him over mkhitaryan.

Great player but not a great central midfielder. Liverpool's best season with Gerrard came when he was played as a forward.
Yeah, i agree. Try to stay on topic though, theres a banning warning on the thread for if posters lead the discussion off on a tangent.

What about what he said about Zlatan?....:) So his agent almost isn't a reliable yardstick. I just can't see us not being interested at this stage. With 3 years left, he would have too have new negotiations anyway. Chelsea made a bid for him last season, if that's true then we have concrete interest from Jose and the fact is Jose's already said Rooney won't play in midfield - if we sell Bastian too for example - we'll be short.

One more season in beautiful Torino, main man, competing in the Champions League and probably winning Serie A before moving to Real Madrid 2017.

Not sure if serious..

Turin is a bit of a dump actually.

Certainly not a tier 1 city like London or Paris.

Real have a transfer ban next season also.

And he has won Serie A a few times in a row. No challenge. Shit league.

Read Thread title.

Turin is better than Manchester anyway.

I am actually baffled by some of the skepticism here on whether this will happen or makes senses for Pog/Juve.

Some of you seem beyond capable of crunching the numbers and seeing the potential economic impact of this deal.

Focusing purely on the financial aspects and ignoring the other massive attractions (fame, prestige, challenge and reach of the PL, Mourinho, ties with area, etc.), there is no way on earth Pogba doesn't want this deal.

He will make significantly more money at United than Juve over the next few years. We will pay him more than Juve can match, and his commercial endorsements will become much more lucrative as the posterboy of a true megaclub.

Our desire to get this deal done appears to be strong. That is all the evidence I need to believe this is very likely to be done.

This is a negative because Gerrard, albeit his very high playing level, was one of the main reasons of the Liverpool's underachieving in the last years. He required a team to be built around him (like in 2008/09) and he hasn't provided consistent world-class performances to justify that decision. When he was playing well, Liverpool won, when he wasn't, the whole team struggled because Gerrard was the focal point of that team.

Also, Alonso was better than him and more influential in his time in Liverpool and I won't say that Gerrard is top-5:
Scholes, Keane, Vieira are on a different level to him
Toure's performances were perhaps closest to Gerrard's in style, but he was better at his peak
And Alonso - even if he hadn't spent that long in EPL, his departure meant the end of all hope for Liverpool's title ambitions

Plus there is Lampard, and those two are very hard to separate (but Lampard's credentials in the league probably should give him the edge even if Gerrard was definitely more talented)

One of my best mates is from Turin, he's close friends with Del Piero. Neither of them live there anymore. He says it's a bit shit. That's all you need to know.

I mean Del Piero only did stay there for like 20 years. Not a big deal at all.

No way on earth. Manchester has way, way more to offer than the economic wasteland that is Turin.

You clearly do not know what you are talking about.
It seems like a mistake to get into an argument with the italians visa vi which of us have the most attractive city. Need to pick our fights a little better than that. : )
