if we asked you your valuations of spurs players, you would probably try and be conservative but if we offered it you'd say no. There are two values. The first what is he worth to his current club. The second is what would he bring to United and what would that be worth. Potentially better then good? Have a day off. In terms of a players value - no one is worth 100m. However, if they are part of a successful team then the money can be brought back into the team. Stop wumming. Your trying to disguise it but the fact is when you talk about 100m, you talk about a very small group of players. United and people that have seen him are much more aware of his potential, then someone with a bias either way.

Painful, why the feck we still have to listen to these three, do they even watch football when they're not working?
Giles definitely doesn't, he doesn't know half the players of every team. I actually like Cunningham and Hamann, but the three fossils obviously bring in more viewers.

With wages you'd pay, and a generous cash 'encouragement' from Juve to the player in return for £100m from United, it's not clear the player would want to say anything except "yes".

But I exaggerate to make a point, since obviously in League 1 would you wouldn't be able to afford to pay £100m + astronomical wages.
I don't understand. We're supposed to be behind the likes of Spurs in terms of attracting players and yet we've signed Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and may sign Pogba.

I understand why you would say any of those, but why pick a player in a position we're actually well stocked in? Of course both of them would be an upgrade, but is it in the attacking line we really need this upgrade?
Pogba is, at least in my book, arguably the best in the world in his position, and it's excatctly that position I would want us to strengthen. And on top of that he's only 23 years old!

I get what you mean, they're not priority positions. I just think they're too good to pass up in this theoretical scenario.

In terms of midfield, I might actually prefer Verratti to Pogba, just because I love that sort of midfielder.

Now Giles is saying he should be further forward on the left-wing, he watched Juve once and seems to remember Pogba playing there or something.
His actual position at Juve is LCM so not too far off. He needs to definitely do more homework though.

I met him in may at a charity event, have to say he's a great guy to talk to.

23 year old Pogba had numerous league titles, trophies and champions league (including a final) appearances to his name and has been at the heart of midfield for those.

I'm pretty sure 23 year old Paul Scholes was just arriving back to the club from a loan spell at Preston North End.

While that puts their levels out of context somewhat, it makes a bit of a mockery of the "young Paul Scholes" comment. The same 23 Year old Paul Scholes in today's market wouldn't be anywhere near 100m.

That's just it, what makes a 100M pound player? when does this become a 200m pound player? Pogba was always a talent but worth 100M I don't think so. Watching today's match he got court out of position a couple of times and lost the ball, made a couple of rash tackles.

I don't even know if his a 8 or 10 and watching him in the Euro's, I don't think he knows. He has always reminded me of Vieira in style of movement but Vieira was more defencelessly minded / aware. If you had the choice Scholes @ 23 or Pogda @ 23 ? you know which way i'd go and not because Scholes is a legend its because if we needed an number 8 id get a number 8 = Scholes. We need specialist

YouTube blessed Pogba.

Would you swap him with Alli (straight swap, no money either way)?

No, I wouldn't, despite such a decision being a big gamble.

Alli has things that Pogba lacks: energy, aggression, a sheer drive to win, giving his all. Moreover, he's adapted to the Prem and settled in England. Pogba might not adapt well and might not settle.

I'd also note that Alli got 10 goals and 9 assists for Spurs in the league. Considering he was aged just 19 for most of the season, that's outstanding.

that's why you'll never win the prem.

feck this transfer to the ground.

£120m is a disgrace.

You could build an entire team for that sort of money.

Lambert, Lallana, Markovic, Loven and even then you've got enough left over for Big Ballo.

Hand on heart I'd rather Kroos, and with the change we can get the world class CB we still need.

So bascially just give Madrid the Pogba money in return for Kroos and Varane.

You think they'd be up for it @carvajal ?
Apparently they have rejected the 75 million euros City offer, so I don´t think so. Let´s not forget that the team has been champion of Europe so should be convenient not to touch the team, unless it´s an improvement. About Varane, difficult too , especially because Ramos is 30 and Pepe 33. They would have to find a very good CB (there are rumors about Giménez)

nah mate, rather just buy a couple Sterlings

In today's Prem-inflated market, for a club that can afford to gamble: £50m
tbf Glaston, you said he wasn't world class. That is a world class sum of monies that you said he's worth.

Pogba threw the bait out for that defender to commit. Pogba just said thank you very much and was on his way lol.

Thought so, I said it more in jest really.

I do think United will be paying more for the name rather than the player in Pogba, & I doubt Madrid will come close to matching alleged our offer, and they'd probably be right.

Hey, at least the DDG saga was over before it started this year!

As a gamble, and for a club that has that sort of money to spend, and as a maximum sum. Those three caveats do not equate to Pogba being currently world class.

A pub player can give you that. :wenger:

I agree he isn't worth 100m. No way. If the market wasn't inflated I'd say 30m max for him. I still want him though and mainly because I really think he can become one of the best midfielders out there. I also really want us to for once stick two fingers up to madrid and If that means breaking the transfer record, then so be it.

how did your Bale money spree go?

It went towards finishing 3rd in the league last season, finishing above United twice in the last 3 seasons, and building a new stadium complex. Meanwhile, back to Pogba ...

Forget it guys, we don't have team as good as Spurs. We won't have it even if we get Pogba.

Brilliant. You finished above us twice. And what about the 30 years before that?

3rd? Is this going to be your new trophy? Arsenal have their 4th place trophy and little old Glaston just has to have his own, doesn't he?

It will cost £750mil. Most of it's a white elephant.
