What's the record and by who?
United should just leave the contract they offered him on the table. If he doesn't sign it then we won't have any issues finding a midfielder that will want to join this team. United is going places with or without Pogba. Would love to see him sign it all the same.
100% the latter imo
Spot on. 18/19 his numbers were real good in that free role no.10/third midfielder, and then 20/21 as you say everything went to pot when he got injured. And then when did come back there were some very big games -- the Milan game in the EL being a prime example. His form in general under Ole has been brilliant
18/19 - best goal scoring form of his career during Ole's caretaker period
19/20 - a write off of a season for him due to injury
20/21 - brilliant taking us to top of the table until injury (again) and then brilliant again in a new LW role
21/22 - 7 assists in the opening 4 games
It would be a blow to lose him now and with Sancho, Varane, Ronaldo coming in along with the likes of Bruno, Rashford, Cavani and Greenwood already here Pogba just looks at place quality wise now as oppose to be surrounded by Smalling, Jones, Lukaku, etc previously
I think with this team now we would be able to attract almost any player. I know how good Pogba is, but he isn't bigger than the club. Take the contract he's offered and get on with the job. If he attempts to hold the club ransom then just let him leave. Ole said from the beginning that we need to build a team around Pogba and he has done that. Up to Pogba if he wants to be part of the success that is potentially on the horizon. As shown in the summer there's not many top quality midfielders out there and none with Pogba's ability. In 2 or 3 years Bellingham might be there but that still leaves a hole for a year or 2
If you haven't read any of the financial statements of either club, and you understand that Man United are no where near the position to end up like Barcelona - again, why do you care?
Do you only consider the worst case scenario possible in every situation?
If anything our financial position is likely to improve in upcoming years when you consider the strength of our squad being more likely to challenge for honours, plus of course the commercial impact of Ronaldo, on top of us still having fringe players to move on like Mata, Pereira, Jones etc.
Its such a predictable update after Saturdays game. They know about as much as the rest of us.I hate these pointless updates by journos. For the fans, they serve no purpose

Again, I recognise that and would like it to stay that way, and If you expect a kick in the balls and get a slap in the face thats a victoryIf you haven't read any of the financial statements of either club, and you understand that Man United are no where near the position to end up like Barcelona - again, why do you care?

I agree, Id love him to re-sign on that, Im simply answering the question "why do you care about wages"There are a fair few players on decent wages who are barely playing & probably off next year - Mata, Matic, Lingard, Jones, Cavani. Probably 500k+ there, plus one of Henderson and DDG will probably go too.
Giving Pogba 100-200k extra is probably not too crazy.
Ornstein aint about that lifeI'd like him to stay, but this tweet is clickbait. As if he's so fickle that the whimsy of a victory of Newcastle would have him decide one way or another. It may be that he sees we have a ridiculous squad now, a midfielder or two away from being par with any in the world; or it may be that he sees the infinite possibilities of serving the ball to players who can actually make good on converting now; or it may even be that he wants to be part of what he deems an actual project - and any of that would be fantastic, but Newcastle being the catalyst? There's going to be more to it than that.
My personal suspicion is that he'll be told we're getting the midfield sorted soon and we'll give him an equal-footing to compete with any club in the world - that will be evident on paper - if he'll just hang tight.
Pogba's not young anymore and doesn't have long left to fill out his trophy cabinet - he has wealth, global status and following, but his trophy cabinet is light. I believe that'll be a deal-breaker in terms of where he goes for realistically, the last monumental contract of his career.
Given how poor De Gea has been for the last 2 seasons If I was Pogba Id be pissed to be earning less than him.But do we know what we've offered?
Because everybody will have their own opinion on what's 'fair' for him as a wage. In my opinion it comes back to the question of who are the best players in this team and does he deserve parity with those players?
In short my answer would be yes. Yes he does deserve to be level with the likes of De Gea, when you weigh up his ability, his worth to the team, his creativity, even from a marketing perspective, everything suggests he would be one of our very highest earners (a lot disagreed when I said that during the summer window.)
My opinion hasn't wavered as I've continually posted along these lines because whenever fit he's invariably one of our very best performers and our most talented. To replace that player would cost far more in the long term and there's nobody available that provides what he can going forwards. From that perspective it's an absolute no-brainer for me that we should offer him top wages, retain the player and continue to build on the excellent quality we now have within the team and supplement that with the focus on a DM. It's without doubt the best approach in our progress for building/finishing this rebuild that Ole started.
Thank god you aren’t in charge of recruitment.United should just leave the contract they offered him on the table. Quoting for the culture.Oh noes, racists, cnuts and cowards hiding their hate behind his agent are fuming now, good shit.
Pogba never bothered me this or that way but people from day one expected him to put whole bunch of useless shit on his back and carry them, winning shit on his own, which is just pure madness. Whole bust with JM just made things worse specially in minds of JM acolytes.
Think, circus and how it follows Pogba and his agent argument is the best one, while in the same time majority of this forum want Haaland. We also could see clear double standards this summer in media when it comes to Pogba and his circus vs Kane situation. Just come out and say how you cant stand his guts, for whatever reason.
Yeah well this is the thing. Some were upset at the idea of giving Pogba parity with Dave but how can you not?Given how poor De Gea has been for the last 2 seasons If I was Pogba Id be pissed to be earning less than him.
They serve the purpose of PR bullshit. Look how many people are excited, and this tweet is no news really. Might sign, might not sign. I hope the Caf is prepared for a long ride.I hate these pointless updates by journos. For the fans, they serve no purpose
I think at this point if anyone doesn’t want him to stay, they can be put in the same bracket as Souness. It will be a huge positive if he signs a new deal.
With the strength in the squad, it makes sense as well. I don’t think any of us would have been happy if we were him, playing in some of the previous teams. Having better players around you allows you to play better, especially if you’re a creative force and attacking reinforcements have been brought in.
Get him tied down and carry on with a few great signings in the next couple of windows and things are looking really good. Quality attracts quality. It’s for this reason that I’m optimistic on the Haaland front too— Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo will be hugely appealing to him, especially the chance to play with, learn from and replace Ronaldo.
8 of 16. He missed 3, so it was 11 total penalties but 8 scored. Even if you take them out, it's 8 goals and 10 assists he ended 18/19 season with.I completely agree. I think with or without Pogba we are going places and we are stacked with attacking options right now.
I don't think he's been consistent enough over the last number of seasons to offer out any silly contracts.
His 18/19 numbers are slightly misleading. This was the season where I believe we beat or equalled a record for penalties in a season. And 11 of Pogbas 16 goals were from the penalty spot. So tbh I don't think him playing as a number 10/free role contributed to his stats being better that season. It was him being on penalties which made the biggest difference.
Doesn't work like that. We just cannot afford to rebuild every summer if we keep losing players like this. We still need a DM , right back and a striker next summer.United should just leave the contract they offered him on the table. If he doesn't sign it then we won't have any issues finding a midfielder that will want to join this team. United is going places with or without Pogba. Would love to see him sign it all the same.

Just so I’m not confused here, are you saying that if someone doesn’t want him at the club it means they are racists, cowards and cnuts?Oh noes, racists, cnuts and cowards hiding their hate behind his agent are fuming now, good shit.

Ornstein is extremely reliable.
