Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

So what, will be considered a flop for United if he leaves this summer, or what will the view on his United career be few years later?

Interesting to revisit him and his United career when he's 33 or something and check if anything will be memorable of it. I will probably not remember anything bar the EL final and the City game comeback.

Pogba has had say, 0ne really good season, and a handful of excellent games. that's it. I hate his lack of tracking back, and to my eyes, he usually looks like he can't be arsed. No player is bigger than the club. We should sell him, especially as his stock is up after his excellent displays for france. 50/60 million euros for him. No problem.

It's funny but for a player of Pogba's reputation and quality, there's a huge amount of fans who really don't care if he goes or even would prefer he's sold. That's kind of where I am too. Undoubtedly quality player. Will never be worth it at United with the system we play and how we're building our team, so I'd rather get rid and reinvest in someone suited to us in midfield.

He's better suited for PSG. He'll never put it together for a season, but he'll spare himself for certain games. Hence why he's so good for France, and a bit up & down for us. He's got tremendous ability, but I won't lose any sleep over him leaving. He's behind Bruno, Shaw, Maguire, and even Sancho who hasn't kicked a ball yet for us, in terms of our most important players.

If Pogba is definitely going then we need to secure a CM prior to letting him go. If he leaves first then other clubs will know we're scrambling to fill the void and we'll pay United tax.

Yep. He doesn't get in the starting 11 for me for tough games. Sancho, Bruno and Rashford behind the striker for me, and then we need more defensive balance in midfield in those games so he's a rotation option. Whereas before it'd be a shame to lose a player of his quality... now we can sell him and buy nobody apart from Sancho and we'd still be better off.

I would add Rashford to that.

Another poster made a point recently that seven out of our best 11 are more important than pogba. For example if we were to lose Rashford but Pogba plays, i feel there is a less chance of winning the game than if Rashford starts and Pogba doesnt.

We can survive without Pogba although he does have a beautiful pass on occasion.

Raiola is playing us just as he played Milan with Donnarumma. He'll let Pogba's contract run out and he'll seal a mega deal for him on a free. That's why United should sell now. Get Pogba out, sign Camavigna and Locatelli and we'll be sorted in midfield for the next 10 years.

What void? We signed Bruno in January 2020 after Pogba only performed well for Ole playing as the 10, and then his only good run of form after that came playing as a creative wide player - and now we signed Sancho. We've already filled whatever void would've happened with Pogba. Ole stopped using him as part of the double pivot in the 2nd half of this season as we weren't balanced with him there.

We can't push him out. Clubs should want him. And he should agree to go.

Raiola is a rat that no one trusts. Sure he might have promised PSG that he'll join them on a free in 12 months time. However there's nothing stopping him to arrange a better deal with Juventus, Real or even us in the meantime. Thus there's still some negotiation power left from our part if we act quickly. Let's offer him to PSG for lets say 60-70m and see what happens. They'll get a very marketable player a year earlier without them getting involved into a courting war or having to pay the huge signing on fee that a free agent Pogba would entail. Time is of an essence here. If I was Man united I wouldn't even bother offering Pogba a new contract at this point.

Not too bothered about him leaving to be honest. Excellent player on his day but those days are few and far between. PSG makes sense for him. No need for him to turn up for most games. If they offer 50m for him, I'd want the club to take it, regardless of whether or not we get a replacement.

Doesn't look like he'll sign a new contract as well. Who knows, VDB might even grow into a United player once he gets his minutes. Hell, maybe we'd even sign Camavinga.

More pros to getting rid of him than cons.

I doubt he would fetch that because he only has one year left. It will be around the 40 million mark, if not less. We really dont hold the aces in this negotation.

I would not be adverse to him staying, but not on ridiculous wages. But i also would not be too bothered about him leaving either. We can survive without him.

I think pretty much like yourself. Raiola is playing games and likely to get a free transfer and share the booty with Pogba. If PSG are stupid enough to pay grab the money and re-invest in the squad.

Varane is a less marketable and quite frankly worse player then Pogba and he's quoted at the 40-50m mark. We should get at least 65m for Pogba.

I'm not fussed either way if he's sold or signs another contract.

He's a master in it. He'll show up at around January with an absolute ridiculous salary demand as his final offer. If we refuse then Pogba would join some other club on a mega deal. Meanwhile Pogba will spend all year making sure that he won't get injured and the media rumours surrounding will ruin our next season campaign. Not to forget that having someone like Pogba walking on us on a free TWICE will make us look like proper idiots

I love Pogba but we need him gone and we need him gone NOW.

PS We should avoid Mino Raiola's players at all costs

That depends on the market for a player like Pogba. There are not many teams who can provide the salary and the profile that Pogba would demand.

Pogba leaving on a free next season is the worst thing that can happen to us. No money this summer, paying high wages to a half arsed player for another season, and then being skinned of money next season as everyone knows we're buying.

You have to feel ike PSG will fully know Minos end game here with their desire to sign two of his biggest clients in the same summer and their endless pit of money. It sounds like an interesting project so Its surely us that he’ll be keeping in the dark until the last minute about Pogba. If PSG are willing to pay a good fee it’s time to take it and move on. I wonder how long it’ll be until the superstars all fall out over something stupid like getting beaten in the CL? Maybe it’ll finally all come together for them but I much prefer being a club who develops stars rather than pandering to them.

This is where I'm at. I'm a big fan, but realize that the team as it currently stands needs a more well rounded CM and someone who shows up each and every game.

Yeah, if we don't get a good offer, I guess we could just let him play out his contract. 50 million is probably where it will end up and I would take that in a heartbeat.

In an ideal world, swap deal with Marquinhos and tell Varane to get fecked. Come on PSG, you know you want it

Do I want him to stay? Yes. But I think now is the time to sell because extending means he's likely going to be the highest paid in the league which he doesn't deserve. It makes it easier to let go of him because we dont even use a set up that will get the best out of him. I'd rather sell and replace with someone that suits our set up better than extend his contract and make him the highest paid with the possible inclusion of further drama down the road

He made us a better team towards the end of last season and we clearly struggled without his creativity when he didn’t play. Hopefully Sancho can fill that gap from the right but if Pogba goes, we need another creative player from deep.

Donny maybe be his replacement but his style of play is completely different. Maybe Ole is looking to establish us as a team who plays with quick transitions and Donny definitely releases the ball quicker than Pogba. But not sure if I’m comfortable going into a season with our major creative sources being Bruno, Shaw and Sancho. An injury to either one of these and we will struggle.

God he's so frustrating. The moment I think the situation can be salvaged, more crap. At this point his quality as a player is becoming irrelevant in the shadow of the continual cloud he creates. Just get rid, you may not get as good a midfielder in to replace him, but you'll likely have less bloody baggage.

As good as he can be if he goes I will be glad to see the back of the circus that is Pogba, all the BS, sulking and inconsistent performances

I do not think we need somebody as good as he is to replace him, most of the time accommodating him into the side has caused disbalance and meant other players playing out of position.

That said he is capable of amazing things, if he stays for another year I am not going to cry about it.

Worrying that Laurens' saying PSG need to sell before they buy him and they might just get him for free next year.

Buy buy buy!

You cant possibly ever have buyers remorse when you’re filthy rich! Pogba is a huge star. The Switzerland game was amazing, if you just set the team up better and play him up front but also free to come back and playmake too, but no tackling, that’s got to be in the next contract. Think of all the jerseys you’ll sell in the Middle East. It’s a no brainier.

They are the only show in town to pay for him this summer and he’ll actually be good for them. I’ve no problem with that. Big problem with him leaving for free again though

Think we need to sell. If we don't then either he a) goes for free next year or b) signs a massive new contract without really having an obvious nailed on position in our current set up. Better to take the money and use it towards a player who fits better, even if they're not as talented.

Say if we sold him for €60M with multi-year payments, is it still doable?

If we where to get

Camavinga & a Starting DM then it ok to lose Paul.

But if we replace Pogba with just
Camavinga then we will be shooting ourselves in the foot for next season!

Basically to replace Pogba and not get worse we will need two signings imo.

Pogba isn't signing a new contract, it's obvious United are putting pressure on him to sign by going public with opening negotiations and offering him one. If they thought he wanted to stay and he had said so this would have been done quietly in the background and we'd only get the signed a new deal announcement.

United are setting up a narrative to sell him this summer.

I love Pogba. He is brilliant imo. Way better than anyone gives him credit. Our best passer of the ball

All of that will be a big miss BUT, selling him is fine if he is properly replaced.

If he is not then it's a disgrace and very poor planning.
