Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Seriously? Wow, I did not know that. To us in the UK that's pretty staggering
Yeah, not that I'm particularly fond of the constant need for classification in our country for almost every form you fill in. I can understand why in places like America and UK its has a more racist connotation.

But back to the topic, again, well...I have said so much I don't have anything else to add. Just hope he renews before the close of the window.

Unfortunately this will drag on, most likely he'll leave for free, in the mean time I just hope he isn't used as an excuse to not buy a midfielder as he doesn't effect the need for one.

Don't get me wrong, if someone came in with a £50 million bid, I think we would sell however theres also a reason we have reportedly offered him a contract isn't there?

To be honest, theres not much of a problem is there outside of the noise? He may only be man of the match in 2 out of 10 for example but generally he is consistently good to very good for us. Some people just want more, but that's not the same as being a problem.

He's a match winner and has over the years been an outstanding source of creativity for us. It's the noise people are apparently having issues with for some reason. I just enjoy watching the man play.
If he's such a great player and match winner, why do we win more games when he doesn't play, compared to when he does?

Suspect this will spell the end of our business this summer as the club will be consumed with this saga. Same happened last season (until deadline day)

Hopefully not, as fixing the weak spots in attack and defence but leaving our midfield junkyard as it is doesn't give Ole a fair chance to progress the side.

Because we need at least one specialist DM to accomodate him. Without it the team works better without him.

Some have missed the point of the racism arguement it seems. The poster did not (as far as I can tell) claim that everyone criticising Pogba has done it due to racism. They brought up the likelihood (or possibility for the sensitive souls) that some of it, a non negligible amount, would be down to racism and stereotypes.

I argued that that's obvious* (to anyone that's been paying attention), most of you accepted that fact, but we are still here, and posters are still confusing the issue. Hopefully it's clear now...

*
  1. There are numerous examples of the racism aimed at our players, racism in football, racism in society...
  2. Redcafe discourages overt racism (and long may that continue) so you won't see as much as you do in other places.
  3. Racism is not always obvious (it usually isn't tbf), sometimes it's micro-aggressions. Sometimes it's stereotyping, or prejudice.
  4. Why is there always pushback? Why do people feel personally accused?
  5. I feel like I'm stating the obvious...
  6. I'm done...
Absolute rubbish . All the criticisms of Paul Pogba are justified and it has nothing to do with the colour of his skin . He's an over rated footballer with an over inflated ego who is worth more as a brand then what he actually does on the pitch . If united were to swap him with Ngolo Kante in the morning their chances of winning the league would sky rocket .Kante does everything as a footballer that Pogba does not. He fights for what ever jersey he wears whether club or country and does it with passion , aggression and a never say die attitude .He always gives an 8-10 performance . He's the closest to a modern day Roy Keane or Patrick Viera that I've seen in modern day football

Total confusion. Is he leaving (any credible news?) or he wants to run down the contract and leave for free? I really don't see he is renewing his contract though. Could have done long time back.

Noone really knows anything. Fab said we thought we had a decent chance of him signing a new deal. Andy Mitten, which is probably the most well connected journalist, said recently noone at the club knew, and probably because Pogba hasnt decided yet , or that he is keeping all his options open.

Problematic situation. If he stays to leave for free next season then it can go both extremes, he might give everything like last hurrah or he might just linger around, stay fit for the next team. Don't know, all speculation. But not good for United at all. He shouldn't keep United guessing.

Looking increasingly likely that he'll stay and run his contract down for a free transfer next summer. That's surely the goal now for him and Raiola as it'll maximise the money they personally make from the deal (and probably lead to a more lucrative salary offer, in what will likely be his final big contract). Nobody seems interested at the £50m fee we'd reportedly ask for this summer.

Ideally, strictly talking in professional terms, he should make that clear, I hope he must have, if not then bit of a pickle we are in.

Yeah - free transfer next summer is the worst possible outcome for United, but at least if we know it's happening, we can get a replacement in asap. The problem is, he and Raiola would rather keep us on the hook a while longer, because they can use contract offers from United as leverage for a better deal at Real/Juve/PSG etc next year.

Yeah, agree. Think most sources has said earlier that the club want a definite answer this summer , so I guess we wont offer him a new contract next year if he doesnt.

Strange he hasnt joined up with the rest as he is in Manchester now, my guess it has something to do with all of this.

But then again he is heavily used in our kit pictures

the fact that he's so polarizing and completely divides the fan base tells you all that you need to know about whether he should be given an extension or moved out of the club. the amount of money he would demand for his final 4 year contract also is a clear sign as to why he should be sold from the club.

So the fan base opinion of a player should be a part of club’s decision to try to keep a player :p?

obviously the club won't get two flying shits about the opinion of a player based on the fans.....considering it's a forum for discussion amongst the fans well that is why this exists :p

Will he do a Kane?
If woody doesn't let him move? Absolutely

There is no one stupid enough to pay that when they can get him for free 5 months from now.
I agree no one is going to pay that, but I don't know why you say they can get him for free in 5 months. They might get him to sign a pre-contract in January but what use is it to them when he can't play for them until 22/23 season anyway? He's available for free next summer.

Well said.

Pogba does not have to get an 8/10 every match but put he has to put in the effort. He should be the one putting the team on his shoulders when they are struggling, instead, he is the first one to disappear.

Strange he was vital in getting us to the EL final then. That's only something that happened a few months ago and you seem to have forgotten.

If we decide not to sell him this summer then it’s a dangerous game… it’s means the club must be confident in getting him to sign a new deal, why els would they risk losing him on a free? I do hope we keep him though because we’re building a very strong team and to win the best trophies we need the best players possible. If pogba signs a new deal this summer and we have a fully committed pogba then that to me is like another signing. We are in need of a DM aswell but I’m not sure we’re going to get one this summer, that might be next year. A midfield 3 of pogba, Fernandes and mctominay may be good if our coaches can train mctominay and drill him into being a DM.
