Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Are we sure he’s leaving? There was a tweet that Varane spoken to Pogba at length prior to coming to us. I don’t know how these things work but if Paul’s leaving, surely he would likely have told him to join him at PSG instead?

United fans under that Rio tweet defending kane while claiming the same myth that Pogba doesn't perform for us. It's absolutely incredible

Personally I don't think so, but I don't know as there's so much FUD. From the initial story it had a whiff of fishiness to it. Either way, posters need to stop having sleepless nights and wearing down their teeth over it...

Why would he, Maybe Varane actaully wants to play for Utd and was getting info from Pogba who is currently a French Utd player.

What is the word to use in such situation? I always thought "colored" is a general and neutral word.

In UK its not the right word you can just say black here if you need too

I believe the issue with "coloured" is that it groups all non whites together, especially anyone who is black, arabic, south asian when they are all very distinct ethnicities.

Pogba will only go to a team where he can win trophies, whether he contributes significantly to that is another point of debate.

That leaves City, Chelsea, Pool, Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve and PSG.
City, Pool and Bayern doesnt want him .Barca and Real currently cannot. Chelsea could use him, but they currently doesnt need him. That leaves Juve and PSG. Juve i think doesnt have the finance to do it. May be without CR7 salary they could. So this leaves only PSG. And i think Pogba is afraid that Mbappe will leave next season, so going there would be a mistake.

Hence i think he will stay here this season. He will go to PSG if mbappe stays next season or will go to Juve. For free.

We must decide this summer! Sell or give him new contract. We can't let a player and an agent to dictate this!

Some have missed the point of the racism arguement it seems. The poster did not (as far as I can tell) claim that everyone criticising Pogba has done it due to racism. They brought up the likelihood (or possibility for the sensitive souls) that some of it, a non negligible amount, would be down to racism and stereotypes.

I argued that that's obvious* (to anyone that's been paying attention), most of you accepted that fact, but we are still here, and posters are still confusing the issue. Hopefully it's clear now...

*
  1. There are numerous examples of the racism aimed at our players, racism in football, racism in society...
  2. Redcafe discourages overt racism (and long may that continue) so you won't see as much as you do in other places.
  3. Racism is not always obvious (it usually isn't tbf), sometimes it's micro-aggressions. Sometimes it's stereotyping, or prejudice.
  4. Why is there always pushback? Why do people feel personally accused?
  5. I feel like I'm stating the obvious...
  6. I'm done...

outside of real racist shit that we see that is clearly in your face with the social media stuff and the monkey chants.....this turning everything in a racist tone or saying there is some sort of underlying tone of racism is what continues to push that narrative to the forefront thus making it even more open for criticism and people so quick honestly to brushing it aside.

the fact that someone is criticized and they are black or a person of color and immediately you cry wolf that someone is racist is a farce and that honestly will just feed into the negativity. No one says a thing when we slay Lindelof for being a muppet and brain dead or Matic for being slow as a turtle or Shaw for looking like a fat leprechaun but god forbid you make that claim about someone of color and all hell breaks loose.

you can live by a double standard or use race as a method of erasing criticism in an athletic environment when judging how they perform on a pitch, court...etc

You know nothing about me and haven't even bothered to read my posts in their entirety and in context. I know this based on the content of your post, and how wide of the mark you are. Do me a favour and feck off.... some of you are so weird.

But you can’t go the opposite way and say that subtle racism just doesn’t exist surely?

I’ve not seen anyone say a black player can’t be criticised. However, when a black player is consistently described as unprofessional, a bad influence etc despite all real evidence pointing to the opposite, I see no issue with asking the question as to whether there is something deeper. To straight up just disregard the possibility seems daft to me.

It happens all the time!! You can only sell if there's a buyer!!!

Players in the last year of their contract;
Mbappe
Goretzka
Pedri
Pogba
Kessie
Camavinga
Dybala
Dembele
Ronaldo
Belotti
Stones

i never said anything about you personally or your individual views......

see there in lies a bigger question because now you are judging someone without knowing them and what their thoughts are or their values are. Slippery slope to an extent but yes i see what you are saying especially if there is a pattern behind the behaviour.

does that something deeper always have to deal with race though? do we always have to go there b/c of skin color? OR is it that when we see that type of criticism it is never associated with a white player only a player of color?

Why should we only talk about overt racism? When will the stereotyping and the subtle complexities of everyday racism be approached? Never because it attracts attention and criticism? Negativity and criticism can rightly feck off.

You realise that's a not very good argument right if you actually want to tackle the subject in any meaningful substantial way.

Maybe the racism card gets played too much. Maybe calling it a racism card is highly offensive and racism doesn't get spoken about nearly enough, but essentially just telling off people who use monkey chants is pointless and not going to help anything when the issues are far more ingrained and prevalent than a lot of people think.

I thought this was quite interesting on how commentators and by extension people watching and discussing football frame/discuss ethnicities differently

Similar to the Lukaku/Morata discussion on how they were described by journalists years ago...

I don't know why we are being reactive and not finding a club for him to jettison him and his agent together.

Because he's a sensationally talented footballer who everyone at the club seems to like and we want him to stay.

If no one pays up to 50 million then I think the club would rather he stay for the year and they take their chances on convincing him to stay. If he doesn't, then we get to keep him for a year which gives us a much better chance of us reaching our goals for the season.

Except he isn't. He has 2 good months out of the year and this is our last chance to get some money for him.

Looks like we haven’t got any firm interest from PSG. My intuition is that the club is just trying to do some damage control to keep fans getting on Pogba’s back. I have sympathy for the club but they must avoid offering Pogba a big contract even if we end up loosing him.

There are two issues with Pogba. First issue is his form which is erratic at best. We have rare seen the monster that played for Juve or France. Second issue is money. Which ever way he decides his leech of an agent will make some money. Transfer him or pay him more than DeGea Raiola wins. If United get him to sign a new deal at massive salary, he must perform and not just prance about the pitch showing off his latest hairstyle. Personally, I would sell ASAP and take £30m to tempt more than one club.

Because unlike fans, the club and manager don't actually want to get rid of him yet as we're on the way to fielding our strongest squad in a decade.

It's why it seems that they're prepared to gamble on potentially losing him for free again rather then sell on the cheap just because.

Or that there is no buyer who will pay his wages and pay a transfer fee.

From the reports it doesn't sound like the club would be all that disappointed if that ends up being the case.

Still doubt that if an official bid of 40m came in from PSG, they'd sell

Don't get me wrong, if someone came in with a £50 million bid, I think we would sell however theres also a reason we have reportedly offered him a contract isn't there?

He's sensationally talented 2 games in every 10.
Which is a big part of the problem.

To be honest, theres not much of a problem is there outside of the noise? He may only be man of the match in 2 out of 10 for example but generally he is consistently good to very good for us. Some people just want more, but that's not the same as being a problem.

He's a match winner and has over the years been an outstanding source of creativity for us. It's the noise people are apparently having issues with for some reason. I just enjoy watching the man play.

I see. Didn't know there was difference between those phrases so thanks for clarification. In gets lost in translation so you need to understand the context I guess.
No worries! Yeah, it must be a proper minefield for people that don't have English as a first language. Confusing enough for those of us that do tbf.

I hope we sell Pogba this summer. I think Ole wants him gone too. Ole wants a high pressing energetic midfield. Neither Klopp Pep Tuchel would want him in their team . He simply doesn't work with a number 10 in the team. He can work but you also need a highly energetic number 8 midfielder and a a cdm passer . A few years ago when we played him with Herrera and Matic was the closest to it ever working at united . But we have Bruno who isn't going anywhere so Id say get rid. Kante and De Jong would be my dream midfield pairing with Bruno . The problem we have is there doesn't seem to be the dearth in quality of midfielders out there. Neves and Saul would be an improvement on McFred but is it good enough to bring us back to the very top . I dont think so. People seem to think if we sign a cdm that we can simply play pogba and Bruno as the number 8s. It will not work . Theres a better chance it would work with Bruno and VDB

I'd honestly rather Pogba just come out and say he's not going to extend his contract than play a bit of cat and mouse or better yet Mino pushing Pogba to play cat and mouse

Well said, Pogba and Bruno both as 8’s seems like a disaster to me.
