One thing about the poll, if I was allowed, I would choose "Too expensive - but Muppetastic! So happy!". He's exactly what we need in the midfield but he's a lot more expensive than he should be.

The outrage is hilarious, but that article's almost unreadably partisan. Is the MEN normally like that? I hadn't noticed it if so.
When it comes to issues between clubs, they are partisan. MEN is usually a pro United paper so it's not a surprise.

I still can't believe that L'equipe were right from the start, even the 110m offer is correct.

Watching our rivals go bonkers because of this transfer is absolutely wonderful to watch. Some forums are even deleting any threads regarding Pogba.

I wouldn't be listening to any lectures regarding the fee from Liverpool supporters simply due to the money they've pissed up the wall in the last three seasons.

Benteke? £35m+
Lallana? £25m
Markovic? £20m+
Balotelli? £17m
Lovren? £20m

Every Liverpool supporter would obviously swap every single one of them as a package in exchange for Pogba. No player is worth that. Pretty sure Pogba is more useful than all of them combined!

Especially in this summer when transfer fees have truly went mental, £89m seems high but not unrealistic in the current market.

Considering everyone falls over themselves to claim we spent far more than we actually did, seems surprising that one outlet is suggesting we paid less.
Balague is getting away scott free from this. United paying 120m Euros and having to pay 25m on top of that in agents fees was the basis for Madrid walking away leaving Pogba begging Zidane to join his dream club.

Really ?
I think our defense still needs strengthening.

Bailly looks good but he's only had a handful of games.
Valencia was being crucified time and time again on this site, that he isnt a right back.
Schneiderlin cant even get in the team properly.

But relative to other premier league defenses, ours isnt that bad at all. Its our attack that was appaling last season and cost us big time.

I think the most interesting thing about this transfer has been the role that social media and Adidas has played in it.

If you cast your mind back to the late Fergie and Gill era we were being left in the dust when it came to modern media. It has only been three years with Woody at the helm and we are now at the cutting edge of the evolving commercial side of the game.

I think we have to credit Woody with some fantastic vision on this. We can now see his pitch to Adidas that won us the world record shirt deal. He must have promised them that he would deliver this type of unique marketing opportunity and he has.

Our sponsors will have have been absolutely delighted with this transfer and the exposure it has brought which will bode well in the future for contracts.

Exactly. It's better to splash a huge amount on one world class player that basically is a sure thing - rather then spending more than 100m GBP spread out on 5 average players.

Honestly when I recall Ed's famous, "we can do things in the transfer market other clubs can dream of" quote, I was suspicious. When he said he's tired of seeing the best talent go to la liga instead of to United and the EPL I was skeptical. But it's still surreal to me 48 hours later that we have Pogba back home for a world record fee. Eclipsing Madrid which made it routine for years. This is truly a memorable turning point for our club and can't wait to see what the present and future hold for us.

Exactly! I'm not sure it has sunk in for many people yet - it really is a watershed in world football. If we do well this season and then go big next summer again.. Sky's the limit, we got the chance to really put the hammer down and dominate.

The MEN's no more partisan than the Liverpool Echo. Compared to the Liverpool Echo the MEN is pretty impartial. I cannot remember seeing anything positive about either Manchester or Man Utd in the Liverpool Echo.

If we had a front 4 of Martial, Mhkittarian, Di Maria, Ibra - I'd feel sorry for our opponents.
Opposing defenders will be thinking, "how are we expected to prevent these guys from scoring?"
I still maintain that selling di Maria after one season was a massive mistake. No matter your opinion of him, objectively he's a world class talent. But Ed has lately been in the business of rectifying previous wrongs...cheeky bid for di Maria next summer?:wenger:

This should just be the start.

We need to have the ambition of winning the Champions league, and regularly at that.

Seriously though, I think Mourinho could have gotten the best out of di Maria. Pity he didn't hang around to see LvG get the sack.

Yes, 100%. We should have been ruthless after winning it in 99, and we should have bought big again in 08. Hopefully this is the start of something special.

I guess mainly when I'm reading articles that might be partisan, it's mostly been United-City stuff, where I imagine they need to remain a bit more restrained. No such requirement with Liverpool.

It's as much the teenage writing style as the bias, to be honest. More amateurish rant than article.

Aye but feck it. Never a bad thing to have a rant at Liverpool.

Wow, just wow.

Miss watching Zidane play football, certainly stylistically they have a lot in common, if Pogba can learn to impose himself on games the way Zidane did then he can be anything he wants to be in this game.

There is something very satisfying knowing that we have the worlds most expensive player at our club.

whilst i agree, this is partly why people gave/give madrid so much stick, with their galactico policy, and need to keep spending big/break records etc.

It's a terrible article, but hilarious to imagine scouse reactions to it.

Any idea if he will be presented in front of the media? I know we had all the MUTV, but I'm still a traditional muppet and let it when they talk in front of the press.

Actually come to think of it I'm sure Di Maria and Falcao were...

Perhaps one for all 4 on Friday?

Watching that Zidane/Pogba video again, wtf was Deschamps thinking playing Pogba in front of the back four Makelele style (especially when they had Kante on the bench)? To accommodate Giroud?

The very thought of this makes me sad bloody van gaal. We would be terrifying with that team.

Really looking forward to what this season will bring....Something tells me Griezmann will be our next big target next summer

I don't think he was accommodating anyone. Deschamps just bizarrely opted to play him at the base of the midfield 3 behind Matuidi and Sissoko rather than at the head of it where it seemed common sense to play him.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed it!

This does not slip now.

The best kind of Liverpool supporter. Now you just need to go on about how you've supported Liverpool since the mesozoic era and how you hate Liverpool and everything connected with the club, and you'll fit in just fine.

You guys must be optimistic though aye? Hard not to be. Zlatan AND Pogba. In one window.
