I'm willing to bet that the majority of United fans who didn't want him were either accountants who cared more about our net spend, or negative pansies who were convinced he dreamed of playing for Real Madrid. I bet they've changed their tune now we've signed him.

Aye, I would find it staggering if nearly a third of the United fans on here are still against the signing.

I understand your opinion, but IMO Pogba cannot yet be compared to Ronaldo and Messi in terms of marketability.
Ronaldo especially is the marketing mans dream.

Ronaldo and Messi are marketable because of how good they are, but they're not particularly charismatic - and neither of them are 'cool'. that's the kind of marketability that's being discussed.

And what abouy people who simply think he isn't that good as many other here think?

24.6% actually now, but pretty sure the number was higher month or two ago, or even few weeks back.

Not too sure how true a reflection that is. I'm sure plenty voted early on and never thought we had a realistic chance of signing him. Also, when read as a singular question like that, people would vote before really thinking about it.

Start a poll now that he's here and see how many are still against the signing.

I'd agree regarding Messi, but Ronaldo is definitely very charismatic

I think the polls had 25% of the caf (including me) not wanting him for 100m.

However my view has changed somewhat after the Higuain, Stones transfers & supposed valuations for Lukaku and Koulibaly.

Exactly. I'm sure plenty would have a different opinion now and it would a truer reflection having a poll now asking are supporters happy to have him here. Look at the state of transfer fees; teams that might be in a relegation scrap are spending fees like £15m on players that have barely any PL experience, Ibe.

Was thinking about the "juventus paid the raiola money " stories. And it makes total sense.

If we had agreed to pay it, wouldn't juventus have asked for the money to be added to the transfer fee and paid raiola themselves after that.
That way they could have bragged about a 130m transfer fee. That would be a lotough more impressive and would last longer.

I'm sure we are paying raiola too after signing 3 of his players. But the not the reported % cut of the pogba transfer money

Does anyone still reckon he'd pick Madrid, Barca over us?

He seems ecstatic to be back.

I think if he wanted to go to Madrid or Barca then he would have done. There's no way United would have forced him to come here just by agreeing a fee. He wanted to come here. If he insisted he wanted to go to Madrid then im pretty certain Juve would have accepted a lower fee for him to go there. Still a hefty £60-65m but a reduced fee none the less had Madrid put that bid in. In my opinion anyway.

I agree but it is because Pogba simply nowhere near them in terms of his on field performances. That is what is holding him back. With his style of play/swag.. if he can then also start being a consistent match winner on the level of a Zidane at international tourneys/EPL/CL.. his commercial potential would be insane. He has to prove it on the pitch though, as right now he hasn't really set the world alight in my opinion.
Actually I believe Pogba doesn't necessarily need to match their on field performance to reach their level of marketability. Coming to Man United will help complete the puzzle for Pogba. We are insanely marketable on a global scale as a club and if Pogba can produce world class level performances for us, something I'm confident he'll do then he has the platform to match them marketability wise.

Adidas will be pushing for Pogba, with him being their face and us being their main club. The glamour that the PL provide, the hype its delivers and so forth, plus his personality off the pitch will tip the scale in his favor. All he needs is to just to carry on with his improvement and deliver similar or better performances than he had at Juve last year(which were world class especially the second part of the season) than he is plenty set.

I don't really understand your logic. Of course many will change their opinion now that we've signed him. It was pretty simple question, do you want Pogba for 100m, I am not sure what our chances of signing him had to do with people anwering the poll.

Many here criticised him during the tournament saying he is overrated which explains that not everyone here thought he was the real deal.

huh? on official photos Pogba has one
More than likely a double, to make the photoshopping easier. It would be easier and more realistic to lift it from a picture of someone similar than fully photoshop the devil in, it would have looked fake if they did that.

Which duo will he join?

The New Guys
Zlatan & Bailly

The Cool Kids
Memphis & Shaw

The French Colony
Martial & Schneiderlin

The Awesome Hair
Fellaini & Rooney

The My Old Mates
Lingard & Januzaj

Or maybe form some unexpected like
The Rush Hour...And The Villain
Evra, Park & Tevez

Boys2Men

Bailly, Pogba, Martial, Lingard, Rashford

Really impressed by Juventus' farewell to Pogba. Certainly a lot more classy than Dortmund

Yeah I mean I always liked Juve, notwithstanding calciopoli and that horrible racist, homophobic Juventuz forum; they're a decent club. Oh, and that @zlatan_ish person seems like a decent poster too so. Hats off to Juve! :)

I don't really understand your logic. Of course many will change their opinion now that we've signed him. It .

That is the logic. It's easy to say you don't want a player when you don't believe that it will happen. So, if 90% of people say they are happy to have signed him now, that would be a much better barometer, in my opinion. I don't really understand your logic, tbh.

Example:

I think the polls had 25% of the caf (including me) not wanting him for 100m.

However my view has changed somewhat after the Higuain, Stones transfers & supposed valuations for Lukaku and Koulibaly.

From getting Fellaini on deadline day, to signing Pogba, Ibra, Micky and Bailly before the competition even starts. We have come a long way baby!

Is it wrong of me that a big part of me celebrates this Pogba signing because he will take over Rooneys marketing role at the club, easing the process of getting rid of the latter?

Imo. this is Rooneys last season at MUFC.

Nope, I am excited for that just as much too!

You can't understand how people's minds work if you don't know why the chances of signing a player would reflect how they vote in a poll. Many people will pretend they don't want something if they believe there's little chance of getting it.

Why the feck did they pick that music... my heart was racing. Had to mute it in case I get a heart attack.

Perfect for a slasher movie.

A football video on YouTube wouldn't be complete without the terrible music.

I've actually come to accept that - and in a way I look forward to the sh*t I'm about to listen to before clicking play. It's an eye-opener.

I think Ronaldo only had looks(for some??) off field, beside that he isn't really that charismatic. He isn't a character like Pogba or Neymar off field.

With the latter two they've got this huge personality off the field that draws and generate buzz about them especially for this current generation with social media and such. From their hair style constantly changing to their hips and "cool" demeanor they possess off field, it's good combo for marketing.

There is nothing cooler than genuine quality. Tattoos and haircuts can be bought by mere mortals.

Who needs a triple espresso when you can listen to that every morning!

No it WAS another bloke.
No, photoshopped.

You can clearly see the difference here. Other block has weird lightning bolts, Pogbas is more pronounced. Clearly photoshopped.

How do you know that 90% of people are happy now?

Huh, I said "if". Sure there's no poll so who even knows.

Your original post said:

I am pretty sure around 30% people here didn't want Pogba, it's not just the rival fans that don't think he's that great as many here think.

You never stipulated why, though. I mean was it because of the transfer fee? If so, then I think over the course of the summer / several fees that have since bee paid, it has become obvious that transfer fees are absolutely ludicrous and are going to continue to rise. I mean, if a poll was created now, I would be pretty confident that nowhere near 30% of the voters wouldn't want him here.

You can't understand how people's minds work if you don't know why the chances of signing a player would reflect how they vote in a poll. Many people will pretend they don't want something if they believe there's little chance of getting it.

People could just as easily be swept along by the hype surrounding the buy and start making justifications for it when in reality they still harbour the same doubts they did before. People are weird.
