The wonderful thing about him wearing the 6 is that I have said often that the player he most reminds me of is Didi of Brazil, if he learns how to control games better and he also was a legendary number 6 during the 1958 final before progressing to the number 8. Quite a few brilliant midfielders wearing the 6 now, Verratti, Thiago.. Xaviesta wore it, Redondo.

Personally I think 8/10 would be his perfect number based on his exact position of the pitch, but 6 is by no means a poor number for a star midfielder with silks.

Boot Rooney and give him the 10.

First time that I have actually seen a pic of him signing:

Both him and Neymar are a commercial partners dream in terms of marketability, as both really know how to tap into the modern football fans tastes/trends and are very genuine and nice guys to boot. Ronaldo and Messi don't have the swag factor at all, both are quite cringe at times but are exceptional footballers.

I understand your opinion, but IMO Pogba cannot yet be compared to Ronaldo and Messi in terms of marketability.
Ronaldo especially is the marketing mans dream.
Pogba may move into their league, but it'll take some doing. He'll probably need to do well in the Ballondor and/or win some big trophies, for him to get the sort of Worldwide following which Ronaldo and Messi enjoy.
Neymar is currently on the upward curve when it comes to marketability and can be mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldo.

Have read of this, regarding Europes most "known" footballing names, last year.

"I just feel happy. There is no words, to be honest, no words - just happiness, and I just can't wait to start playing with my new team. It doesn't even look like it's my new team - I just left this team and have just come back. It is just a great feeling to be honest."

doesn't sound like someone who 'just came here for the money' as many were lazily saying

I don't imagine he'd say much else really, but it's pretty positive to hear that he seems happy to be back and Jose seems to think he's going to be here for a while.

I mentioned it earlier but everytime he mentioned United in the past his eyes were shining. He really loves the club and the people, he also loves the country.

Its the pictures you see more than the words.

There's a video on the clubs twitter called a day in the life, you see the laundry lady hugging him, people waving through their office windows and so on, its obvious that hes happy to be back and it really is 'home' for him.

I also think that kind of thing is pretty remarkable at a club that is generated half a billion a year as well. Multinationals are not, usually, friendly workplaces in my experience. Its great to see.

Well, the people who were saying he is only here for the money, were saying this because Pogba himself had made no comment regarding his future or his admiration for MUFC.
Now that he has signed, he has issued a statement.

Never realised he had a bit of a Manc accent.
Not a surprise at all IMO, given he went to school for a couple of years while he was here, and its here that he'd have picked up most, if not all of his English.

Does anyone still reckon he'd pick Madrid, Barca over us?

He seems ecstatic to be back.
I do think he sees United as his boyhood club almost. From the way he's talked about us previously, it certainly seems this way. Barca and Real are a more attractive proposition for any neutral player but I think for Pogba we might hold the edge here due to what our club means to him.

what did you expect him to say? he was still under contract with Juventus

Lazy people speculated he was only moving for the money, well guess what, they had an epic fail

Really impressed by Juventus' farewell to Pogba. Certainly a lot more classy than Dortmund

Brought a tear to my eye seeing him hug everyone at the club, he has truly returned home.

I made a thread which was swiftly closed yesterday saying I'm concerned now we've got him we must utilise his skills properly or else he'll be labelled a huge flop I hope he's mentally strong.

He is not a defensive mid he is best as an advanced mid. The media will be all over him if he has a few average games just like they were at euros playing him deep next to I presume carrick is not a good idea.

I just don't see why we'd break the transfer record and not play him where he's most effective. Rooney and Ibra doesn't work that's obvious so For the good of the team and Ibrahimovic especially pogba must be our number 10.

I Hope this signing means mourinho is edging Rooney out finally.
Anyway can't wait to see him back in United red

Pogba was clearly bought in to replace Rooney. However Rooney is still here and Mourinho will give him a chance. I have a feeling though that if Rooney doesn't perform, then Mourinho will opt to move Pogba into the number ten role. Next season though, I expect Pogba to wear the number 10 unless Rooney has a blinder this season and performs.

We have Carrick, Schneiderlin, Blind and you could argue Schweinsteiger in the current DM roll while Pogba does track back and do defensive duties, if he were ever to take over the number ten roll.

I agree but it is because Pogba simply nowhere near them in terms of his on field performances. That is what is holding him back. With his style of play/swag.. if he can then also start being a consistent match winner on the level of a Zidane at international tourneys/EPL/CL.. his commercial potential would be insane. He has to prove it on the pitch though, as right now he hasn't really set the world alight in my opinion.

Love in that video you see his Mum (and brother?) were there with him when he signed.

The below quote is a reply in a different thread. I haven't followed the whole Pogba saga that closely on here as it was all pretty bat shit crazy. But is what Amar says true? I got the impression from popping in and out of the Pogba thread that he was universally wanted.

I am pretty sure around 30% people here didn't want Pogba, it's not just the rival fans that don't think he's that great as many here think.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of United fans who didn't want him were either accountants who cared more about our net spend, or negative pansies who were convinced he dreamed of playing for Real Madrid. I bet they've changed their tune now we've signed him.

Whats surprised me about Pogba is his attitude.

There is not a hint of arrogance when he speaks unlike other players of his quality.

Seems a good lad and not the like the perception I had of him from afar.

Has taken a few by surprise, though I recall how popular he was with staff at Carrington before his departure. Perhaps the talk of Madrid led people to believe he didn't hold United in any regard - or at the least the people at the club.

Obvious his mother has been a steadying influence on him.

It's really encouraging.

I think the polls had 25% of the caf (including me) not wanting him for 100m.

However my view has changed somewhat after the Higuain, Stones transfers & supposed valuations for Lukaku and Koulibaly.

No. Think he is ours until he retires.

No, I think he will leave to play in USA. Think he's out of Barca's and Real's price range now. No way they will justify paying such obscene fee for a midfielder. If you think about it, they didn't now and 3/4/5 years time the market is going to be completely crazy. So I can't see him going to Real or Barca as it will not be financially viable for them. Not that they couldn't afford him. He just wouldn't be worth the amount we will be looking. Of course, this is all depending on us going back to the very top and staying there. There are couple of caveats here but the bottom line is, we shouldn't worry about Spanish teams as 3/4 years in football is a long time. I mean, heck - look at what just happened to us in the last three months. It's crazy. FA cup, Mou, Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Paul Pogba. Like someone pinch me. The future is so exciting! And who knows, maybe he won't want to leave at all, maybe we will dominate for the next ten years. We can only hope. Anyway, I'm as buzzing today as I was the day after we signed Tevez!
