Paul Pogba - Free Agent | ban reduced - able to play competitively from March 2025

Yeah, either due to the club's fault or his own, he didn't fulfill his potential. Perhaps it was a combination of both. Shows how crazy high his potential was though because the player we had was still very good for large patches and certainly a lot better than some like to admit/remember. No United player in recent years has provided me with as much enjoyment as he did. Personal preference of course.
Agree, he was my favourite player too. A one-of a-kind player; I've never seen another player able to control, shield and manipulate the ball like he does. He'd retain possession in the most unlikely of scenarios using a combination of elite technique and strength. Amazing to watch.

I'd take him until the end of the season given we badly need a player who can pass the ball.

It's a risk but a short term contract I think wpuld be reasonable. The only questions would be is his attitude now, how quickly he can regain form and if he wants united again.

we can let him use our training facilities until his ban lifts, assess, and sign a short contract.

He should just give up football. He’s awful anyway. Should start a new job in fashion or something since he loves that more than football.

By the time his ban is done he will have not been a professional footballer for approximately 4 years, that last stint at Juve basically never happened, his last year at United was a write off, I literally hardly remember him, honestly can barely place him in that season other than when we lit up Leeds on day 1, in my brain there is no connection between his time and Rangnick's time, if there was, it certainly was of no significance.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone thinks he will return to being a professional footballer at the top level, he wouldn't cut it in Saudi at this point. I don't think if he went to Saudi from United in 22 that he would have cut it in that league, I think people are forgetting how far he had fallen off by the time he was done at United, which is saying a lot, because he was never really very good for us.

Thank you. I’m not saying sign him on a 5 year contract but a short term contract until the end of the season + a potential 2nd year isn’t the worst thing in the world.

If he doesn’t perform at from Jan - May then no need to move forward. If his fitness isn’t in question, and its a big if, he’s an upgrade on our current midfield options especially when it comes to passing the ball and retaining possesion.

He is and I think by March, he should earn his normal wages
He is apparently willing to take a salary cut to the stay at the club. But just a few days ago weren't they saying he will become a free agent and effectively be able to register with a new club?

Doesn't make sense.

Typical Ed Woodward. Could have got a decent amount for Pogba but no it would have dented his ego too much to let a superstar player (who didn’t want to be there) go. Instead he ends up being injured most of the time and leaves for free…. Great

They clearly do not want him.

I find it baffling to see people on here saying that they'd take him back.

He left on a free - twice - and was constantly injured when he was here. He wanted to leave. I've also heard he refuses to autograph United shirts. His beloved Juventus obviously don't want him.

It's this kind of thinking that keeps us stuck in yesteryear as a club. He's gone. He's not coming back, and nobody should want him back either. Let's move on.

He wanted to leave in 2019 and was checked out. we dont need his toxicity (pog) back

He had a few decent games under Jose too, not just Ole. I would never take him back though. He doesnt have the mentality for whats required. He's the type of player who'd let the likes of Jon jo shelvy make a mug out of him on the pitch and not give two fecks. We have enough players with that type of mentality already ffs

this was not long after Neymar went for 220m wasnt it. We could have easily got 100m for him and removed a headache from the club. But no, gotta think of the sponsors

He was an absolute fool. Easily the worst thing to happen to Manchester United in the last decade.

This is what happens when you have an investment banker making footballing decisions at a football club.

Also Pogba is absolutely right. We’d just sacked Mourinho and hired Ole full time after an awful season. I don’t blame him for asking to be sold given where the club was at. We were stupid not to oblige, he’d have gone for a huge fee and we could have reinvested to get younger in the midfield.

Talks about hating to lose, then 5 mins after a defeat will be in the changing rooms dabbing with Lingard. I just cannot take these guys seriously, sorry.

Insane anyone wanting him back. Exactly the type of player we do not need.

The guy was missing from 90% of our games, often either losing the ball thinking he’s so good he can waltz through midfields or just not making an obvious pass to someone through on goal presumably because he thought was too clever for that.

The failings of the last decade at this club can all be attributed to Ed Woodward. All the hard work by SAF and David Gill undone by this buffoon.

Just looked at his wiki and I can't believe he was with us as late as 2022. Feels like he left years before that.

Didnt do enough defensively, but in his final season he had 9 assists.

Bruno and Eriksen both had 8 the next season and Bruno 8 again after that. So nobody has quite matched it

We clearly miss some of his creativity in midfield with Casemiro, Eriksen, Mainoo and Ugarte unlikely to get 9 assists to help Bruno. They bring other things, most of them better defensively but it would at least be nice to have someone with his creativity in midfield at least as an option off the bench. 31 year old Pogba fresh off a ban isnt the answer, but we should be looking for that answer in the coming windows

Pogba back as a coaching staff to help our midfielders with their creativity?

And he's a drug cheat

Absolutely prick in my eyes. Ego maniac .
The type of player that will bring the culture of the squad to the very opposite of where it should be.

Anyone that for one second advocates this lad getting back into the United squad needs to never taken seriously again

Our decline really started in 2009 when we sold Ronaldo and let Tevez go, to replace them with Owen, Obertan and Valencia.
Nonsense, we were literally two points away from winning four titles in a row after this.

Our squad depleted ‘on paper’ but our performances didn’t wane.

Pogba was doomed the moment we brought Bruno. We also ruined VDB career and unless injuries ruins him first then we'll probably do the same with Mount. This two no 10s nonsense needs to stop.

That’s one has been and two never beens.

We stopped investing into the squad properly and would trot out the "no value in the market" excuse for not spending big money to secure the services of top players, and relied on the calibre of the current playing staff as well as Fergie's genius to get us over the line. No surprises that once he left, everything went to shite.

As heavily as Rooney was criticized in 2011 for wanting to leave, he did have a point.
