Paul Pogba | Back in full training

Classy and mature response there.

No, I'm actually past being surprised or offended by what he does (the majority probably are), and like I said in an earlier post, just waiting for the circus to leave town.

But you are making the circus, you are making the circus by taking something benign and turning it into some sort of big story even when you know the context. Again we are talking about a player that has several of his closest friends playing for his former club, several of them contracted Covid19, he has a shirt of one of these friends and wore it. It's a nothing story with a clear and understandable context.

Because he swapped it with Matuidi when we played them in CL?

Why on earth would he go to the hassle of ordering a French NT shirt with Matuidi on just for this if he already has one? Stop over thinking it.
To avoid a controversy like this?

In football 'the shirt' is sacred. As a professional player you represent the club you play for, and avoid being seen in any other teams colors, much less a team that you are being linked to.

It's all just unnecessary and over the top. He could easily, as someone said, just post a picture of him and Matuidi with his well wishes. But no, everything has to be complicated with him.

At the very least Pogba has put himself in situations where he could be misunderstood. As a professional football player with heavy social media presence he should and easily could do better. The onus is on him to get his message across, not on everyone else to give him benefit of the doubt.

He's had too many 'nothing stories'. That tweet when Mourinho was sacked. Stating that he wanted a new challenge. His brothers statements. His agents shit stirring. It's too much to just be coincidence, especially as he hasn't come out personally to explain his position or quell rumors. He comes across as someone who is trying hard to offend while giving himself plausible deniability. Very passive aggressive, if you will.

I understand that many posters like him. Some give him benefit of the doubt and genuinely see nothing wrong with what he is doing. Some see it, but think he's good enough that it's worth putting up with. I think he's a very good player on his day, but that we'd be better off without him.

Not really since he literally explained why, in order to misundertand it you would have to purposely ignore the general context and also the text of the video too.

This. It’s the same as any topic, particularly on the caf, if the facts don’t fit the narrative then it doesn’t suit the poster.

The irony of these posters demanding respect, consideration and loyalty while exhibiting none of it themselves.... Peak cringe in here. Reminds me of how Ronaldo used to be treated (yes I was here at the time)....

Just ignore the so called circus and get on with your lives. Anyone would think you live for this shit. (in which case I'd say you deserve all the discomfort and disappointment that you get)

Agree.Atleast we had a valid reason to hope against hope that Cristiano changes his mind, but Pogba isn’t worth the fuss at all.He hasn’t contributed even 10% of what Ronaldo contributed...I wouldn’t lose any sleep at all if he decides to leave...

My point exactly. Why do something that has to come with a disclaimer? It's a "No offense, but (proceeds to offend)" situation. He's smart enough to predict how fans will react to a social media post, even if it's not how he intended it.

And it's especially grating because there are a thousand and one ways to show solidarity that don't involve wearing that jersey. Use the National team one, use an old picture or video, give a shout out, no jersey involved. The possibilities are limitless.

He is free to express himself as he chooses, like everyone else, but he's courting controversy. I understand your point of view that this may be nothing, you can't however blame those of us who repeatedly see smoke and suspect a fire.

If he feels he unable to connect with people who should be his fan base or get his message across it would make sense use professional social media/PR team.

You are speculating on all points, there is no math to do.

Im sorry but you have chosen the wrong side of this argument. Disclaimer or not you do NOT wear the shirt of a potential future club even if you played for said club before. You do not do this especially if you have a huge social media presence and have had a history of dropping hints and having your agent and family drop hints too. Pogba knew what he was doing..he could have worn a France shirt for Matuidi if this was the intent but no he wore a Juve shirt.

People need to stop defending his petulent nonsense.

Just sell, his talent is replaceable (see Bruno) and Raiola is a dirtbag I'd rather our club has no connections with. Grealish coming in would be exciting, as would Maddison. We have options this summer to replace Pogba and still have a great midfield.

Talking to a brick wall here I'm afraid mate, the whole reason this has been a topic of discussion for pages upon pages is due to exactly that...

They don't give a rats arse about context if it get's in the middle of their 'feck off Pogba!!' hate circle jerk

You’d think Pogba was a family member, the way some are bending over backwards to defend him. It’s actually hilarious.

You would think he was a family member the way some are foaming at the mouth to criticise him . It's actually quite sad

You are taking it backward. It's because he isn't a family member or someone that I personally will dearly miss that I fail to understand the constant meltdown and exaggeration that he provokes among a minority of fans. When it comes to Pogba I like watching him play but I don't really care if he does it for United or someone else.

If you can’t tell the difference between Lindelof and Pogba doing it I can’t help you.
So Pogba is banned from showing support to his friend and other types of activities? He is no longer a free man and must live by the restrictions placed upon him by United fan-flakes?

I think that all United players should be treated equally. Sorry if treating people equally is not your bag....

I actually think it's hilarious how you Pogba haters have to find all sorts of reasons to explain why your opinion isn't accepted by the majority.

I don’t have an opinion on him either way really. Great player on his day.

I just don’t get why everyone feels the need to defend him to the death whenever he does something which is obviously and clearly a bit stupid.

Is anyone foaming at the mouth? Or are they just pointing out that it’s a bit of a daft thing to do?

Yet people act dumbfounded when United fans aren’t totally in love with him. It’s weird.

Can see it - Paul and Raiola get on a video conference call (social distancing):

Raiola : Paul - I need you to wear a Juventus shirt so you can show your desire to move there.
Paul: But, if I do that, it will make me hated by even more people, I need to protect my brand.
Raoila: Hmm what do you suggest?
Paul: Oh I know, there is this thing that is killing people, you know Matuiidi has it, so what if I put his Juve jersey on to pretend I am showing him support.
Raiola: No, these fans are way too smart for that, they'll see through it, we need to be more clever, we should put together a Bond level evil plan together.
Paul: Oh I know, Lindelof, he likes to play dress up, literally, did you see him wear a dress the other day? I can get him to wear a Sampdoria shirt and we'll do it together, then surely people will believe I am just being really good
Raiola: And you can even tell people that you hope they don't take it badly.
Paul: And what I want you to do is is next day please talk about Madrid, a completely different club, that will keep all the naive fans on our side, yes yes.Our plan will be solid, only the really smart United board will know that I really really want to leave the club, want to go back Juventus. That a social media post showing support is just cover for wanting to leave the club.

Raiola ends the calls with : I love it when a plans comes together (A-Team Hannibal style) and Paul sitting there grinning and thinking "... and if some of these haters get annoyed even better, I can't wait to read it on The Caf while I wipe my arse with these United jerseys that I never planned to wear again".

Bunch of evil twats the two of them trying to use this horrible situation to benefit them.

Then on the next call of the council of evil, it will be plotting of Paul showing flowers sent to his mum but, low and behold, those flowers only happen to grow in a specific regions outside of Madrid. It will show the board his desire for Madrid as his other option but, it will be enough to keep a lot of stupid / naive fans on his side - only a few of the really smart supporters, the true reds, the ones that can really read his mind that will also figure out his true intentions.

In the same vein, I personally don’t understand why people like you can’t just see something like that and move on. I don’t see you berating Lindeloff’s . So if you really couldn’t care less about Pogba, then that’s a weird way to show it. Just relax. What he did has not magically ripped up his United contract papers . He says he is showing support and his reason isn’t totally crazy like you want us to believe. It’s only because of a prior agenda that’s why this is an issue. It’s as valid a reason as any. And there is no rule against a player wearing another teams jersey. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last either. You haters should just calm down. If Pogba will be sold in the summer, it will happen in the summer. Calm down for now. Especially if you don’t have an opinion on him either way as you claim.

Stop with all the “hater” stuff, it just makes you sound like a teenage girl.

Again, you can express an opinion about something without getting wound up. They’re not mutually exclusive. So there’s really no need to tell everyone to calm down. However I suspect you know that no-one is genuinely angry, and say “calm down” in some attempt to claim the moral high ground. That’s fine. As long as you understand that no-one really cares enough to be annoyed about it. I’ve not seen any anger towards Pogba in here, and yet most of the posts seem to be telling people to calm down.

The state of this thread

whichever game Pogba is playing with the supporters, hes winning

Not a truer word spoken. It’s beyond childish some of the posters and the general outlook at things in here, especially relating to Pogba.

Even with all that’s going on in the world right now they still find time or the sheer inclination to vent their hatred towards him for anything.

I haven’t even read above your post but I’ll have a guess that maybe they are angry because he is wearing a Lakers jersey or perhaps he still hasn’t had his “property of Man United fans” tattoo across his back?

Oh pogs you little scoundrel

Yeah its totally normal behavior, definitely not the MO of a guy who wants to leave in the summer.

It is actually very normal behavior, regardless of someone wanting to leave in the summer. Example, so many NBA players donned Kobe Laker jerseys when he sadly passed. Am sure if one looks, will find players that are looking to move in the summer, maybe even to the Lakers who are a team that could challenge for the title. In those cases, probably every one of them went out and got one specifically to show their support and no one was getting Kobe USA ones, they got Laker ones. It would be really really jaded to think it was anything other than a genuine show of a support in a tragic incident. For Italy it's even worse with so many dying and suffering - it's a real sad state of affairs if you think think Pogba is that despicable a human to try and use that for some kind of statement to get a move.

I really don't get why it's so hard to just take it as face value of him showing support for Matuidi and Italy and leave it at that rather than trying to delve into some deep nefarious psychology behind it.

Agreed. People just need to use common sense on this. It's easy to see what's going on if no emotional attachment clouded people's mind.
If these things happen, for example, to/by Salah or Firminho, I bet my house that people would be on different opinion.

Just like when Lukaku and his agent had been talking about Serie A for a while, there were people that thought it was just Lukaku haters talk. It's so easy to see.
Would love to read those naysayers, when Lukaku was saying on record, he'd been thinking of out of the Club since his first season.  So naive and innocent.

Don't want any Raiola connections to United so that means I'd rather see Pogba go.
