He has these games where it looks like someone's older brother showed up at a friendly kick about with 10 year olds bouncing off him. Fantastic player when he's on it.

He’s lost all his stamina since that trip to Dubai. Although the plus side, I guess, is that he’s mentally refreshed. Which might explain why he’s playing so well (for 45-60 minutes per game)
I think it’s the injury that caused it Pogue not taking a trip to Dubai

Pogba had 70% pass accuracy - Bruno who he was playing alongside as an 8 had 50

Just reading Barney Ronay’s piece. He says Pogba “misplaced 40% of his passes”. I hope that’s poetic license? Because 60% pass completion from one of two deep lying CMs is a diabolical stat.
:lol: You want to stop reading utter bollocks just because it fits your narrative, and then posting it on here for your agenda.

Pogba actually had 70% pass completion in the game if you want to go off stats rather than watching the game.

Interestingly only Jack Harrison and DDG had a lower pass completion than Bruno (50%) beyond diabolical.

My god you’re tedious. Where are you getting your stats from? Link please.

Sure. Don’t you think he might have lost a little less cardio if he’d hung round at the club? It is a little unusual to see someone completely gassed after an hour on their fourth (or is it fifth?) game back from an injury.
I don’t see how - I’d imagine he was there for warm weather training not to sit around on the beach. Pogba is a big unit to get up and down the pitch in those conditions and at the tempo that game was played at.

Bruno has an assist and goal. A little gratitude might be in order with regards to him.

You could've just read this thread where posters mentioned pass completion stats or check any online stats website to confirm if a 60% pass completion rate is true or not

The only online stats site I use is fbref and they haven’t got their match report up yet. I didn’t see any posts in this thread with pass completion stats or I wouldn’t have asked if Ronay’s % was accurate. Obviously.

Are you on your way into Bruno’s thread now with his pass completion stats?

Well no. Because unlike you I’m not totally fecking consumed by the desire to hate on one of these two players no matter how well they play and defend the other no matter how bad they are. I leave that sort mentalism up to absolute weapons like you.

I thought they were both very good today. Hence I was surprised by Ronay’s comment about Pogba’s passing. That’s all cleared up now. So you can crack on being a fecking weirdo all you want. I’ll leave you be.

@Jeppers7 is fecking weird.

He's been good since his return but let's not forget who we've played. Middlesbrough, Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and Leeds. 3 of which we didn't even win either.

If we are still saying the same about him after Atletico X2, City away, Spurs home and Liverpool away then it's happy days. This is where players of his calibre are judged.

 I’m not sure what is funnier, this post or you pretending you couldn’t wait to post Barney whatever’s stats and actually only wanting to find out if it was true by posting it….(the fact you’d already passed judgment gives the game away)

To be fair Pogue, there does seem a hint of passive aggressiveness there. Your initial take was strange to anyone who watched the game. ‘I hope those stats are wrong because that’s a diabolical return from a midfielder’. I mean, whether they were wrong or right, it was evident that Pogba played excellently, and surely the most natural opening comment in this thread would be a positive one on this occasion?

Of course, now we can do plausible deniability and say everyone is being weird you were just checking stats - but the initial post was odd given the actual performance in the first place. I mean, assuming the stats were confirmed correct, as surely you would have expected that they were when you posted them, now what? Is it to try to introduce some narrative that the performance was actually bad after all? Or find proof to dilute any praise being given? It certainly wasn’t echoing the general consensus of a good performance.

I chuckled to myself when I read it and thought ‘here we go’, but had no desire to engage in some Pogba fanboys vs Pogba hatred debate so just scrolled on, but this post is just to point out that someone who did decide to engage in one could have picked up on your post as it, to me, wasn’t as genuine as you are now implying it was.

I think this is a fair comment. We need the best Paul Pogba in March.

We really do.

I worry about him against the better sides too. They get in his face and don't stand off him as much and he often struggles.

Let's hope he proves me wrong.

Only on Redcafe could there be an argument about the passing percentage of one of our best players, at Elland Road, in conditions like that.

I think everyone was pretty shocked when he came off, I don’t think there was much of a suggestion at the time that he was tired.

We certainly want him to be turning up in these games. Although I disagree a bit about that being where players of his calibre are judged. It certainly helps cement it, but the bread and butter games week in week out are what cause many media darlings to be highly celebrated, and brilliance from the likes of De Bruyne, Hazard and others against Burnley, Southampton and co don’t get downgraded. They have Carragher and Neville doing 20 minute montages post game.

I am confident anyway because our unit looks strong. Often, we have been comfortably the second best team against big sides, but applied some sort of rationale that ‘well Pogba cost x amount, he should be winning us these games’. I don’t think it works like that, and I certainly don’t think he’s capable of that. Sometimes a Roy Keane type could turn those sorts of games, but I don’t see Pogba in that bracket. If the team can establish some control on the game, he can make the difference, but we need to have a better foothold in these games in general. To which he needs to contribute, of course.

You seemingly are though, Pogba played well today & your first thought was to undermine that performance with a stat that [if true] would have proved what.

I won’t regurgitate @Rozay but the post below sums it up perfectly. The eye test said good performance so you found a stat to support your underlying narrative. Do better.

One of the biggest issues in these games is the opposition get in his face and force him to make mistakes. Liverpool do it better than anyone. I can't recall him ever having a good game in 5 yrs against them actually. I stand to be corrected but none come to mind.

I hope he proves me wrong anyway. His form is certainly decent. But the step up in opposition, Watford aside, is going to be tough for us over next 4/5 weeks.

He played well at Anfield last season. Pretty sure many on here gave him MOTM, but I agree - he usually has a poor game against them. The game is played at a fast tempo, but not only that, we are typically on the receiving end in terms of not having the ball. Against Leeds, the game is also frantic, but we are the team generally in control. It then has the opposite effect of giving him loads of space to pick them off. 4 assists in the last game, dominant today.

It will be interesting to see the next few games. I think he’ll dominate Atletico, but naturally less optimistic about him doing the same against Liverpool and City. That’s if he even plays!

Against a team like Leeds it's like watching men against boys. He's so much better than them.

Surprised he came off but looking at the stats he wasn't getting on the ball much and maybe Ralf wanted Fred to come on and get better control in midfield.

Good game whilst he was on. Was surprised he was subbed but a great decision.

Need him at his best for the next month with the games we have Coming up. On form he's unplayable in attacking positions

Lose him and only get one Midfielder in would be a travesty.

If we want to improve the area it's 1 midifielder and keep Pogba or 2 starting Midfielders and he goes.
