Weird take. If we extend his contract on 400k pw kind of money, others would also want silly money when they are due a renewal and it becomes difficult to run the club.
I don't know much about Madrid's financial situation, but they have been cleaning up their squad and wages for a while. They will save even more with Bale's contract finish this summer. They are planning to sell/get rid off lots of players this summer too like Hazard, Marcelo, Isco, Mariano Diaz, Vallejo, Jovic, Ceballos. I am pretty sure Real Madrid can afford Mbappe and Pogba's salary given both of them are "free" transfer. They may even take Rudiger for free too.

if Pogba signs it's a guaranteed 62m at max and maybe another 20m if the club extends for another year. basically 82m for 4 years, at a maximum, nowhere near your 127m estimation.
and I think it's best that he leaves, Pogba isn't worth 82m of wages.

Why believe it's from his team though? That's way too random to be believing. You'll end up hating the player more than you should. Reminds me of the thread on the front where some guy goes from blaming tabloids from making up stuff about Maguire to blaming Pogba for some random tabloid news that didn't even mention him on the very same page of the thread. Not you in particular but we aren't always consistent. Journalist is only telling the truth when it can be blamed on Pogba, Lingard or Henderson.
I wanted him out of the club. But post injury he seems to have come back with renewed focus. He has been running the midfield and his passing is absolute top class.. I am still leaning towards leave. If he stays, we need two players covering for him. We effectively need replacements for him, Fred and Mctominay.
You have to compare it to something though. Buying a 60m player for 5 year contract still seems like a better business than having Pogba on high wages (400/500k doesn't matter) for a few more years.
If you spend 60mil on his wages in 3-4 years it still makes more sense to buy a player and have him on a contract after those 3 years.
Imagine Redcafe 2025: "Pogba doesn't want to sign an extension on current 400k/w. Does it make sense to give him 600k/w so that we don't lose him on a free?"
The is no scenario where it makes sense to tie him down for longer.

In that regard, he can surely find us some good replacements with good character and we can start building toward being a sustainable and healthy football club.

Exactly. When we inevitably lose Pogba and at best get a Midfielder who is probably worse it'll just leave us kind of where we started.

That would have been the stuff of dreams for Woody... extending Pogba and bringing in Casemiro and then talk about the world class midfield we have to the sponsors. Don't get me wrong, I like Casemiro and under the right circumstance I'd welcome him here but this scenario is very shortsighted (in my eyes at least). Lets hope Ralf will make sure, stuff like this gets avoided.
Exactly this. Not forgetting it's WC year where he'll probably end up in Dubai for another few months after it's over. I just can't get my head around people saying give him what he wants to stay after 6 years of pure inconsistency. As good as he may be being available for half a season shouldn't be a viable option.

Actually good game management that from Ragnick. It's very common with Pogba for him to tire out in the second half. Seems like in game management is a strength of Ragnicks in a way that it never was for Ole.
