Im not a fan of Pogba and never have been. I wanted him gone years ago. I think his attitude his awful. When it gets tough he goes awol. He's a sulky prima donna in my opinion. Id love to sell him back to juve or fleece madrid for a fortune.
Sorry that was an irrelevant rant. Ignore me.

Says it all really and vindicates what most of us have been saying for quite some time. Every opposition manager knows that if you take Pogba out of the game, we struggle. That's why we have been going after players like Bruno and VdB to help share the load.

That clip says everything and explains what most sensible people would have known for sometime; managers insist that their players press Paul, two, three even four of them at once. He can routinely handle two but anymore than that and he finds it difficult that awareness in those situations he needs to improve on for sure. Hopefully we can see him display more of the passes and shots Jose Mourinho quite clearly fears this season in a more advanced role.

In don't really understand why managers like Mourinho,Ole and deschamp play Pogba in a deep lying role if you consider the things he excels in and the manner he plays the game its more suitable for an advanced role,he will often take the high risk decision most times and not the Kroos,Thiago role he is being asked to play as he is a player who will try to take initiative instead of being patient with his passing..the highlight for him post lockdown was him receiving the ball wide right taking on Dier and winning a pen in the manner a forward like Mane,Pulisic or Martial would have,I can't think of a midfielder with that ability.his best period in a united shirt was in a advanced role during Ole interim tenure, i have always felt he'll be Best utilized as a CAM or a wide midfielder why is he always pushed back

Pogba excels when the game is infront of him, he isn't the same player with back to goal. You want him making the passes than receiving them really.

Because Pogba's long range passing is world class, not many can play balls from deep over the top of a defence better than him. He's also got the ability to play lovely forward passes along the floor, or drive forward with the ball if the space opens up.

As you say though Pogba has the ability to play closer to the box also and be a threat, but I think it's more a mater of we have good options in that role with Bruno and now VDB, but nobody that can do Pogba's job.

Contrary to what many believe is true, he's not bad at defending when he stays switched on. Concentration has always been his weakness.

I always felt he feels more natural in a sightly wide the kind Grealish play at villa...he always like drifting there and that's were he does his best work

The problem with a wide Pogba is that he wont track the full back and he likes to get involved in the play.

The downfall of Pogba is that he can play in any midfield position.

Football is played most instinctively, midfielders like Kroos,Thiago and co select their passes instinctively and its very natural for them to dictate play,it's just not so for Pogba am not so concerned about the defensive side just things like his pass selection and deciding when to turn the ball and dribble forward he is a bit too adventurous for his current role having to curb his natural instinct it's difficult to excel at the highest level

Yah but it's better to play him in the the double pivot when he doesn't track back right...at Juventus when broke he'll mostly played on the left of a diamond were Pirlo did the deep playmaking or in a 352 with Pirlo and a hard working Vidal, his job in that team was that of an adventurous creative midfielder not the holding midfielder we are trying to make for all the criticized he gets no one can accuse him of failing when it comes to creativity so why not let him play that way.....last post

Don't see him signing a new contract after this window. We have no ambition. Will be a real problem as he will only have a year left so we will sell him for around half his worth and won't be able to replace him.

Another reason why this summer was so important. Good look tying down top players when you show zero ambition to improve.

Yep, talk when he came back was that he was looking at extending his contract and even back after Bruno signed it was because it looked like we were strengthening the team and showing some ambition. Hes not going to extend his contract when we show no ambition, why would he?

Anyway, I don't think its a massive problem if he leaves. Think Van de Beek can replace him in the XI next summer, we just need to build off of that. With his age, injuries and price tag he comes with, its probably smarter to move him on rather than extend him, only if we reinvest properly. This summer for example, selling him for Van de Beek and Thiago, and then additional funding for Sancho as a summer would've been brilliant. Obviously Covid stopped any teams from going for him, but at 27/28 nobody will be spending big and teams wont want to lock themselves in a long contract with someone who might be declining before long like Hazard and Griezmann.

Its actually probably the biggest season in his career. Needs to show he can handle a season, that he can be a top player and not be outshined by Bruno again, not only for his own interests if he wants other big teams in for him, but if he wants United to give him a good deal as well. Depending on how the season goes he can lose all the negotiating power that he had, and thats purely down to his own fitness and performances.

As far as other clubs go and how we have stutteres this window (like last season), I don’t see how we are matching his ambitons. A bit like DDG over the years, although he stuck around.

That being said, this is Pogba’s year to shine and show the doubters what he’s about. Prove beyond doubt to bigot dinosaurs like Graeme Souness that modern football has changed and that Pogba is very much part of the best players on the planet.

Mourinho cultists will be befuddled by this one. On one hand Mourinho clearly rates Pogba, as he should as Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world. On the other hand, Mourinho made Pogba enemy number one to justify his own failings. The internal conflict Mourinho fans must be going through watching this video. Stress.

I would be happy if he leaves but Van de Beek cannot replace his quality or his output.

Nonsense like that is helping people to finally see through that Fernandes hype train; as though he outshined Paul. He could not do that in a lazy month of Sundays.

When he finally does leave as well as Anthony for Madrid or Bayern and we are left with Fernandes and Van de Beek I hope 'fans' are delighted as I would be.

This post is complete nonsense. Either you don’t watch Utd or you a a troll.

They will tell you how he "downed tools" to get the manager sack when again that's nonsense.

Are you seriously trying to claim Pogba played better than Bruno? Not even his most biased fans can seriously say that since Bruno came in. Fair enough if you think Pogba is better overall, but he certainly has never shown the impact Bruno did in the 2nd half of the season (admittedly small sample), where Bruno was brilliant.

And no, van de beek can't replace his quality himself. But he's a different type of player who can probably compliment a midfield 3 better. Pogba doesn't fit naturally in any role and has his very obvious weaknesses, and to get the perfect partner for him you need an extremely specific player that we don't have. Van de Beek is more natural as a box to box than Pogba, where you can put a deep lying playmaker who can handle themselves defensively without necessarily being the entire defensive positioning on their own next to him (like Thiago for example) to have a nicely balanced midfield. Put that next to Pogba and it clashes, while Pogbas mentality and playing style has never really been one that dominates possession, that controls games. People think that he is, but thats never been him. He's a moments player. He's a cherry on top of a well drilled system to give them those moments of brilliance from a decently functioning midfield, but he isn't the one to make it all click or a necessity.

And random comment on Martial. Why would Martial go anywhere? He's our starting striker and loves it here. Pogba doesn't have a good reputation because his fitness record is garbage, his languid playing style makes him seem lazy, he comes with a massive price tag and media frenzy, his agent is a cnut, and he left once while Sir Alex was our manager, came back and then made noise about leaving constantly ever since. Oh and his actual performances for a record signing have overall not been up to scratch. Thats not going to endear you to anyone.

Definitely. When they were both on the pitch together, Pogba was clearly better. The odd pass and penalty from Bruno didn't change that.

You would be delighted for Martial and Pogba to leave? Why?

Fernandes hype train?

You come across as a fan of a rival club and bitter about the quality of our players.. if that's the case keep up your bitterness and hatred.

Thankfully with posts like this you won’t get out of the newbies. Ignore list.

I do not want them to leave but because of the unwarranted criticisms they get here I would be happier if they played elsewhere.

If you do not know what that is then open your eyes. People('fans' on here, media) go out of their way to compare the two players to try to demean Paul, for what? They play on the same team.

VDB replacing Pogba's quality? What is seriously wrong with people? Also yes, Pogba is a better player than Bruno, don't let media narrative fool you. This blind hatred people have for Pogba is clouding their judgement when it comes to his quality.

Hopefully with a new season where he won't have a bad injury, he gets to play at his best.

Footballers have been compared all the time and thankfully Pogba has a thicker skin than you have on behalf of him.

And really only person demeaning anyone here is you with Bruno. He may or may not be as good as Pogba but certainly its not demeaning to compare him with Paul. Wow.

What does how thick his skin is have to do with anything? They play in two different positions on the same team, why compare? If you do insist then the Portuguese would lose easily.

If you think what I said about Fernandes is demeaning compared to how Paul is talked about then it shows who the sensitive one is, overly I might add.

Wow. I pretty much said the exact same thing about this poster just yesterday. It’s becoming blatantly obvious now.
That you have nothing to add to the discussion but try to discredit those people with different opinions to yourself? You and the other poster, jog on.

It's quite clear that he means the opposite.

No , he doesn't. He clarified later again.

Comparing any footballer doesn't demean them. You thinking that it demeans Paul is actually demeaning to Bruno. Its quite simple really.

All this again even before the season starts

Wondering any chance to definitely put an end to all this this year.
