I cant believe the stick he just got from Keane, Neville and Viera. He had a very good game and was one of Frances best players today.

One of the best individual performances I’ve ever seen. Clean 10/10. Best player in the tournament so far. Sad to see him go out, was getting excited to see more of him at this level.

have you watched many games of football? He played very well - but to say it’s one of the best individual performances you’ve seen is either completely OTT, or your pool of matches is really small.

For al his talent going forward, he is a defensive liability. We all know that. You can't simply blame his teammates for conceding 2 after going 3-1 up. He is part of that defense and therefore part of the reason France conceded too many tonight.

He lost the ball for the 3rd, but their defensive line was shocking.

It's not his fault they conceded 3 goals.

They should have scored more than 3 if Mbappe didn't play like a pub footballer.

That volleyed pass to Thuram out on the left was sexual. Sublime strike for the goal, and the opportunities he's handed to Mbappe this tournament have been stellar. What a player. And he's one of our own.

Shocking from Mbappe today. Pogba did absolutely everything he could to get him scoring. What a phenomenal midfield performance from Pogba.

If you compare French team with United. The two key differences are, He plays beside Kante there and he has Mbappe up front. The rest of French side and United don't have that much of a difference.

It is a bit more than that. Kante makes a huge difference but France also do not need to squeeze in a Fernandes type at No.10. Griezmann plays off the right, Mbappe off the left and Pogba is their main playmaker, normally with two mids alongside and covering much of his defensive work to give him freedom. He plays deeper than 10 but he dictates from deep. That to me is a much more significant difference than who is playing ahead of him.

He was going forwards and they said so too but he's the reason the game went to extra time. Sloppy mistake..

France's best player tonight. His passing and goals were tremendous.

And yet his team is out.

It's not Pogba's fault, of course. I don't think even Souness could make that case.

But it does beg the question: Does making Pogba your main man lead to enough of a benefit that it offsets what you lose from others. That's a very live debate because many fans want us to change formation so Pogba can be better. Even though it will definitely make Bruno less influential.

Pogba did, IMO, 80-90% of what you'd want him to do in most games this tournament. Yet his team won once, couldn't even beat Hungary and are out.

It's not his fault but, to me, it does suggest building the midfield around him doesn't result in such a huge boost that it would compensate from moving Bruno further away from goal.

I can’t recall another player ever who has lost the ball in the oppositions half and get blamed for a goal. He got tackled. It happens all the time, players get tackled. I honestly can’t think of another instance with a different player. Anytime Pogba gets tackled it’s getting scrutinised. It’s unrealistic that a player never loses a ball in any area of the pitch. Fair enough around your own box, but aside from that it’s simply football.

Majestic performance tonight from Pogba

Pretty much

If Mbappe showed up they would have won every game

He’s a phenomenal player.

@Ali Dia I must say I’m disappointed in you, after the progress you made this season you have reverted to type since the Euros, coming in to seek to provide mitigation for any Pog-praise.

I’m not sure some people understand football. Actually, I think they do, but are wilfully taking the opportunity to be ignorant here. If you are caught in possession on the 18 yard line and concede, fair enough - the goal is ‘your fault’. If you are tackled literally on the halfway line, and you get the misfortune of your team going on to concede, I’ve never seen a goal blamed on you in such scenario. Of course, if Pogba lost the ball doing stepovers, I’d even understand it. But the pass back from Benzema wasn’t smart in the first place, and as soon as he touched it, an opponent was on his touch. That is football.

There was a point late on where Pogba robbed the ball from someone and broke forward and was fouled as he passed to Mbappé. If France scored, no way would the goal be blamed on the person Pogba got the ball from. That’s not how football works.

The game finishes 3-2 but for his mistake so I'm sorry it was partly his fault. He did play well except for that moment though but then that moment was crucial. Typical costly Pogba brain fart moment.

Well on the bright side he gets a well earned break now before pre-season

Can't believe Pogba was getting criticism for that performance on ITV with Vieira, Keane and Neville. Zero mention of him winning the ball that lead to France's second goal. But ofcourse, emphasis on him losing the ball at the half way line.

The game finishes 3-2 if Kimpbepe defended properly

The game finish 4-2 is Mbappe took 1 of how many chances Pogba laid on a plate for him

People blaming him solely for the Swiss equalizer have completely lost the plot.

If that was any other player besides Pogba, the entire focus would shift on the back 4 and the awful defensive line.

It wasn’t a ‘mistake’ though, was it? He got tackled, on the halfway line, as soon as he touched the ball.

He pretty much needs to play in a three in a free role. The position doesn’t really exist in the PL. also with Rashford Greenwood who don’t press or track back we badly need some intensity from somewhere. Bruno is all intensity and work rate
He plays just fine where OGS has had him this season. On the left with freedom to come inside.

You can't, after a game like tonight, criticise his defensive work.

He's provided so much in terms of chance creation and goals that it'd be a bit miserable to do so.

Or 5-3, 6-3 if they converted the chances he created.

Pitchforks definitely come out whenever Pogba does lose it in midfield and it gets spoken about way more than if it were any other player

He was on the ball all game long, set up dangerous attacks and scoring chances that were squandered all game long, ball retrieval that led to a goal, scored a goal, but he singlehandedly lost the game? Do you lot enjoy watching a sport you don’t understand?

It's so utterly predictable. Same posters as usual as well, one of whom must have been fecking crying when Pogba scored that beauty earlier.

World class goal and penalty, his value will have risen tonight

I know this might be a really hard concept for you to grasp, but the purpose of a defence is to... defend. Pogba getting tackled at the half way line which results in a goal isn't his fault. His defence should protect him.

I feel really sorry for United "fans" who can't enjoy a genuinely world class performance by a United player. It's sad.

France’s defense wasted a hall of fame performance from pogba. Was Kante even playing tonight? Guy looked invisible to me.

Nah all the defensive issues in the midfield were Pogbas fault

Exactly this….I’ve never seen anything like the scrutiny Pogba gets. It’s the reason he is viewed so negatively by many of our fans. Performances like tonight thrown away and forgotten. Why there’s so many in here tonight slagging him off after that performance is mind blowing.

said it before and I’ll say it again. He should leave United for his own benefit. Totally understand why he’d want to leave in the past and why he’d want to leave now.
