This Paul Pogba is undoubtedly world class. His discipline, work rate and quality were unquestionable again today. Came clutch at Burnley, now at Fulham. Long may it continue. I have stuck the boot into Paul on numerous occasions. Happy for him to make me eat my words all the way to the end of May!
Hyberpolic much. I don't think any of our players are world class in any version. Even Bruno. I am happy that Paul has turned a corner and if you look far enough back I said he might helped us win the league before leaving. But these aren't world class performances. I gave the MoTM to Cavani as they could not handle him 2nd half and HE(Cavani) wasn't world class! Stop saying everything good is automatically world class. If you want to measure world class, think Xavi vs United in CL finals or in the 5-0 vs Real Madrid.

If a pro player can't give it all when his team is on the Top, he might as well just quit football.
Credit to him but this is what I've been thinking as well. He only seems to perform when the team is flying and hide when the team is in crisis and to make matters worse, his agent would come out and say stupid shit to unsettle the team.

He also helps the team flying. Some players are just like that, who can (or only) provide more flavor to top teams. Some thrive on smaller teams, but failed in bigger teams.

Good point. We shouldn’t overhype our players. Nonetheless cavani and pogba have been playing well. Wish we got cavani earlier.

He made the PL team of the season in a year we finished 6th.

He's just won us two games against teams near the bottom of the table when we would otherwise have dropped a total of four points, arguably killing our title ambitions. He has literally averted a crisis.

Good performance today 8-9 / 10. Amazing goal for his left peg. Good work rate and desire to win back the ball. He's found a few non penalty goals this season after not really scoring for years, must feel on top of the world.

So that Xavi's level as the standard for world class? That's incredibly high standard you have.

That's his/her opinion, though. Just as it's your opinion that you don't think the performances are world-class - whatever 'world-class' is.

Must admit did not see this coming. He's been a real driving force for us lately. I wonder if he's realised that with a genuine shot at the title, he can go out a hero if he wins it with us, and is finally focused. I guess time will tell whether he keeps it up over the rest of the season or if his performances fall away.

Vive la Pogba FC.

Simply put when the man is on song, so is Manchester United.

The Caftards giving your begrudging praise can feck off as well. “Credit to him but. . .” GTFOH!

CLASS ON GRASS!

So you want him to run in behind maguire and bailly? Hilarious

i want him to follow HIS man, if that means its behind De Gea then that's what he should do never mind just the CB's. Its exactly why he cant be trusted in a midfield 2. i'll take that as the idiot out the 2 options then

Little logic in keeping Pogba when he wants to leave. His mouthpiece will be out in full force come summer. Besides, this is hardly the level of consistency we desire, he needs to be doing what KDB does at city nearly every game. I don't think that will ever be Pogba's level.

This was filthy

I just thought he was hoofing it clear live. Then the camera pans; showing a pinpoint pass to Bruno. A beauty.

The play between Cavani and Bruno after Bruno's great touch there was very nice, too.

I would say that's a unfair comparison because KDB has been playing in a more dominant team who have controlled the game better than us over the years and have had better players too which makes a big difference due to multiple pass options opening up for the Belgian player. Bruno for example likely wouldn't even play in the City team under Guardiola due to his direct play style. So I think it's unfair to expect Pogba to maintain a similar level due to the above.

I honestly think if he played in City's team/system he would be preforming similar KDB. When he plays LM in single pivot 4-3-3 he's world class. Ole's 4-2-3-1 just doesn't suit Pogba, he's not really a 6 nor is he a winger. Ole's been moving him around and I think given the system its best to use him at CM against teams that will bunker or offer little offensive threat and as a RW/LW against top teams.

He won the ball more than Fred with 4 tackles and 3 interceptions, on top of the match winning goal.

That was more like the France world cup winning Pogba who worked hard without the ball too, that we nearly never see in a United shirt and thats why he's frustrating. Hopefully we see it more often

Phenomenal by Pogba today. I hope he maintains a level close to his current form over the next few minthsm. Bruno, who seems to be going through a down spell, will surely improve as well, and if either (preferably both) of those two is in top form, we're genuine challengers for the title.

Composed performance by Pogba. And he came up big when we needed someone to step up.

Per Google:

" The offside trap, then, consists of defenders stepping higher up the field at the right moment, leaving attackers in an offside position just before their teammates pick out a pass to them. Properly executed, the offside trap allows defenders to win the ball back without having to make so much as a tackle. "

You're welcome

did the offside work ?

BTW the touch was sublime to get the defenders hiof under control before the touches leading to the goal.

When the ball was high up in the air about to fall next to him I wondered if he can do a Berbatov touch on it. Not only did he have the first touch of a heart surgeon but boy did he follow that up with an absolute thundercnut of a strike.

Which one was better, Ronaldo's late winner at Craven Cottage or Pogba's winner at Craven Cottage?

did the offside work ?
The offside trap relies on the back 4 stepping up in unison and everyone trusting the other 3 are in the right position. Do you think Pogba is supposed to identify the right back is behind everyone else by a matter of a few inches and then track the run all before the ball is played?

so can you answer the question ? did the offside work yes or no ? and did the man who Pogba let run go on to score ? again its a simple yes or no ?

On the ball he's class even if he was very poor in the first half imo. Defensively though, I don't he was effective enough for me. It's not a lack of effort or awareness but the intent and execution. He does well to hover in the right positions but he doesn't really put his foot in or get goal side fast enough. There were more than a few occasions where the Fulham players got an easy pass or dribble out; I'm aware it's a fundamental issue as we're just not switced on when it comes to pressing or winning second balls etc as a team.

It's still a very valid criticism of his when he's in a midfield two but it's also true there's not a player who possesses Pogba's ability and is defensively robust. Maybe I'm being harsh.

It doesn't really matter though, the goal is what sets him apart from anyone else tonight.

I'm by no means saying he's prime Makalele or anything, but even just winning and recovering possession a fair amount of times while being his normal dominant self aerially is more than enough when factoring in everything else he brings while in possession. Basically, he's now average defensively while bringing a huge physical presence, as opposed to being the liability that he's been in the past. That's more than enough when paired with a more defensive minded midfielder, although Fred probably isn't the right partner overall considering his own positional faults. If Pogba had Partey or someone similar to a mobile style of Matic, it would be the perfect pairing for most standard league games.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but there’s a big difference in character and mentality between those two. De Bruyne is a perfectionist whereas Pogba is a “mood player”. I’m not sure it only has to do with formations and team style.

Maybe but wouldn't you be a little moody and frustrated if you knew you were one of the best players in the world but couldn't show it due to the system? Think KDB would be happen playing CM with Fred? Not fitting the system is why Mourinho got rid of him at Chelsea.

Well done, Paul.

When he's motivated and happy, he can be a truly amazing player. Delighted with his recent displays.

We defend zonally in situations when the ball is played over the top. Midfielders generally don't track attackers who run in behind the defence. You can see once Lookman runs to the last line Pogba let's him go because he becomes Bailly's man. Bailly has the choice to engage him or play the offside.

Find another stick to beat him with.
