I love Pogba, probably too much, however I agree with Jose’s decision to drop him.
He just didn’t turn up against Spurs, and his performances against the top 6 so far haven’t been good enough - yes we know he plays better in a 3 man midfield - but he can’t suddenly turn into Cleverley if he’s asked to play in a 2 man midfield either.
Hopefully this will get a reaction out of him.

Also it's not like it's one game. He was awful against Burnley too where he almost cost us the game because of his shit decision making and wanting the headlines instead of picking the right choice. Hes a terrific olayer when his head is in the right place, but needs to grow up. Against spurs he just kept pushing up and left the middle wide open. Mourinho using him incorrectly is true, but irrelevant when you see how he played. Whenever he got on the ball, he would try to do his thing and hold off a few players or dribble past players. Just fecking pass it. Dembele showed him up in that game and made him his bitch basically, so he deserves to be dropped.

That's a bit harsh. Cleverley may not have been so talented but at least he showed heart and fight. I agree with you though, a player may not prefer playing in a midfield 2 but if that is what the manager has decided to go with, for whatever reason, he has to accept it and do a professional job. Pogba's display on Wednesday was pathetic.

It’s Pogba’s inability to get the best out of himself - consistently - that’s the problem. All the mithering about formations on here is completely missing the point. Pogba has been both excellent and shit in a midfield three and a midfield two. More excellent games and less shit games will see him avoiding being dropped in the future.

He played in every game against a top team last season. And I’d struggle to remember a single acceptable - never mind impressive - performance in those games.

Pogba is meant to be one of the best midfielders in the world, and should be able to fit into a number of systems. Why should he be carried if he can only play in one formation?
Spurs wasn't the only bad game he had , he was shite against Burnley as well.

He's fine in a midfield 2 usually. Against top teams, his weaknesses were obviously going to be exploited.
I wouldn't exactly call last season a write-off, but it's certainly harsh to form a judgement on him based on last season which was his first in the league, in a new team under a manager in his first season. Last season was mainly about not being shit and securing CL football.
It is clear that he is our most talented outfield player and in the right setup he will blossom. Of course there'll be games where he's not on it, but I can't remember too many of those games where he's part of a midfield three and been below par, mainly because we very rarely field a midfield 3. We are still far from addressing the balance of our team.
Yup, not like it was just the Spurs game, was awful away to Burnley too. He probably is being used incorrectly, or at least not in his best role. But that doesn't excuse whatever he put out against Spurs and Burnley.

Dropping him for a kick up the arse is fine and probably deserved. If he was to be out of favour longer term then we’d be much weaker for it.

When did i say Pogba wasn’t good enough? He’s clearly good enough. As I said, he just needs to be more consistent. Especially when it comes to defensive effort. He deserves this kick up the arse. He’ll learn from it.
He played very well against Arsenal but that was the exception in his time at United so far in big games, in fairness as you say he's not been available for many this year but generally it seems to have been a pattern throughout this career thus far. I seem to remember him being fairly involved in Juve's run to the Champions League final as well, he looked like he was playing a different game to the rest of his team in the final, while he also flattered to deceive at the Euros. That is a concern but the bigger one is his attitude, he can't flit around playing with no sense of responsibility when he feels like it.

I haven't got an issue with him being dropped. Doesn't matter how talented a player he, they must always put in 100% effort. Pogba doesn't. He casually strolls around and plays as if he's too good to bother trying.
