I would still play him in a 2 with Carrick vs Arsenal. Mata number 10.

Or we go with Fellaini/Herrera and sacrifice Mata for this extra steel which would be a negative move.

He'd be on about 7 or 8 assists as well by now with Aguero leading the line. Been disappointing overall so far but I hope we start to see the best of him now.

Don't see anyone can say he's been disappointing. He's probably been our best player so far this season.

Carrick Herrera pogba, mata, martial,Rooney I think.

Defensively keep it the same also.

When was the last time we had a midfielder with his mixture of both technical and physical ability? Excluding Anderson, of course. He really is fantastic, and I'm so glad we bought him. I couldn't give two fecks about the fee, I'm just enjoying having a player like this in our team.

Beauty of a goal today but that is what he is capable of. His best performance for us so far.

He reminds me of Veron but has more legs about him. Just so pleased we've got him. People might take the piss because of the price but he's genuine class. Not many players can pop up with a goal like that.

Love his style of play. He's going to be some player for us in the next few years

Can't believe the bashing he got by some in his first few months

You think it was cause of the article.
In any case long may it continue. Wonder how we'll lineup vs Arsenal. Probably Rashford up front but will Martial start too?

Probably not, But then again you don't know how much of the media that the coaching staff read. Wouldn't of been shocked if the article got shown to Jose though as it was making alot of noise over the weekend.

I think he may play the same team but with Rashford or Martial instead of Zlatan. Got a feeling he might hunch for Martial as he has a bit more experience.

Think we need to stick to the diamond for now. In any case, our best wingers at the moment are also strikers anyway, so the two up front will be fine for them.

I think Rooney will start against Arsenal, but I'd love to see Rashford and Martial start up top. A diamond of Mata, Herrera, Pogba, and Carrick would give us enough centrally too.

Arsenal tend to flood the middle, and don't play proper wingers anyway, so having 4 in there could work, although it will give Bellerin the freedom of the right side.

His goal in 1080p

That goal just sums up my thoughts about him. Earlier in the season he was starting really high up the pitch in the no.10 position and he was lost in amongst all the opposition players which stifled his game.

Like i said, based on what i saw of him in our youth team, allow him to drop off an extra 10-15 yards. He's better at creating from deeper where he can pick out runs with precision from distance. It also means that he can judge a situation and arrive in space on the edge of the box to unleash his shots. He's one of the best players in the world in bith these aspects, so to play him that bit deeper makes complete sense.

His performances during sept/Oct weren't awful or what this place would have one believe.

Heck his games in those periods could have easily been lauded as world class had he been slightly fortunate.

During those games he hit the bars few times from great shots outside the box. He could also have easily gotten himself world class assists had they been buried.

The problem with this place just like the media is that they want him to have 10/10 games every single week or he gets criticised.

There is this extreme when it comes to judging Pogba. He's either excellent, if he does turn up excellent but instead has an alright game everyone quickly jump out their seats and start screaming how he underwhelmed and was awful etc.

Look at some of his performances during Sept/Oct. Quite believable I'd say.
His first month or two at the club? Still think it's stupid to go after a new player like that when they could be adjusting to the league/club

I can't remember anyone bashing him he has easily been the best midfielder. No one can expect to pay back a WR fee in the few weeks.

Agreed. He's obviously a special talent and in time I believe he will put it all together and become as good as any player in the world but he's not played well in a big game yet, he was very quiet/just bad in the league games against City, Liverpool and Chelsea (which for all this talk about him now finding form was our 3rd most recent league game). He's been really excellent in games we should expect to win, adding a creativity and dynamism we've lacked before, but it's been a flaw throughout his career so far that in big games he's stood up in the way that his talent suggests that he should and he often looks like he's not fully in sync with his team mates.

This can be confirmed here:

Apart from the Chelsea game where they won easily against us, they knew that there 3-4-3 system would never be breached, and no matter how many times we passed the ball and dominated possession, it was never going to happen for us. For other matches against the top 4, he has been relatively quiet i.e. half the number of passes made in 90 minutes compared to where he had over a 100+ passes against a woeful Leicester City or Hull or Zorya. He needs to start showing up against the big teams.

looked alright when I watched but France, collectively, were a bit sloppy

think he lacks the maturity to really put his stamp on a game and dominate it.

he was booked so will miss France's next game

I think the suspension is only for Qualifying matches so the ban is for next match in March. In either way, it’s good whenever we can avoid United player playing for their country.

Good.

he's had his share of mediocre games but he's brilliant when on song. that goal against swansea was an absolute beauty, almost scholes-esque.

eh No. Many players have had amazing first two months. Like many have said, he's a special talent but defending him for that crap he put comes across as too defensive/insecure about how good he is.

Doesn't mean others can't adjust slower.

And many good players haven't

Like Di Maria.

Suarez was similar really, i didn't see many questioning his ability though. The top teams will try to make sure the opposition's best players are shut down. Their job is reduced to the odd bit of brilliance or creating space for others to play in. When the team is playing poorly as we are we don't take advantage of that like Sturridge did that season.

If you're to look at globally, although I don't stats to back it up, players usually take a few months to adjust and settle in before delivering consistent good performances. Expecting too much from a relatively young player, who was discovering a new league and playing for a new team with a new coach was incredibly stupid. As always many people had and will always unrealistic expectations.

And so... when they don't have good months we say they don't have good months. Not bury our head in sand and say he's playing fine.
But he didn't say he was playing fine. Did you read his post?
