So true.

And the word "cringe" is one of the most overused word around these boards.

"Oh look I want to whine about Pogba but he didn't have an average game so how do I relieve myself? Yeah Pogba's celebration. So I'm gonna say it CRINGE or CRINGWORTHY this and that".

Than feckers wank themselves after that.
Agreed. I remember thinking during the transfer saga that the 25% who didn't want him will be a good laugh if he doesn't light OT on fire with his first step. I think a lot of the hysteria comes from them

For a man who is struggling, thats arguably his 4th standout motm performance is 8 odd games

Scoring 2 goals from midfield is a very good performance, I think I read so-so and average which is just stupid and decent which doesn't go far enough. He was the motm and we already knew we were getting a player who blew hot and cold during matches, but so do players like Ronaldo and Bale, its irrelevant if they aren't as involved in 85 of the minutes of the game if they then produce the magic.

Certianly not four standout performances, the only other one than this he won the motm on the caf was Leicester, he may have been decent in other games like Southampton but not standing miles above anyone else. He was motm today too but he wasn't a million miles ahead of Mata, and Lingard had a great game.

Hence the word arguably!

Hence me arguing! Your point is fair enough obviously and in for instance the Southampton game he was certainly a contender for motm, even though I can't remember who would have got it on here, maybe zlatan.

Was fully cracking up during that run up

Nice mind games after the keeper was stalling.

Played decently tonight and was overall good. Just tends to sometimes dilly dally on the ball, maybe trying to find better openings for passes, but then finds himself fighting to shield the ball.

Does anyone else notice that he seems to lose his balance many a time when trying to shield the ball?

Wasn't he MOTM for the Southampton game on the Caf.

He's had 3 outstanding games with couple of okayish ones and average ones mixed in there.

Normally you'd expect your reasonable folks out there to conclude that this player is certainly showing glimpses of what he can do once he fully get the ground running and is new to a new team and league with just few games in, he needs time.

But nope. If he doesn't light the place the hysteria get in full flow and his outstanding performances get conveniently ignored for the sake of the "he sucks" narrative.

No he didn't I looked through it before but i'm not sure who it was, i'm assuming zlatan as he bagged a couple. He has definitely been our best player twice. The Leicester game he was great but even then he wasn't shoulders above for instance daley blind and tonight. What annoys me is Herrera offered him the license to play better against Liverpool but he did nothing, I just want the two of them to start complimenting each other then we really will have a midfield on our hands, there is no reason on paper for it not to work.

I should point out I do think It will click, them two and mata against worse teams and them two and fellaini against better teams, beautiful options if everyone is on song. Same out wide, if everyone is in form we are spoilt for choice, i'm just waiting for the moment it clicks, when that happens there will be less pressure on pogba even if he isn't at his best.

Seems like a better #10 than Rooney to me. Difficult choice now between him and Mata.

No I distinctly remember Pogba winning MOTM on the Caf and Zlatan winning the Sky one.

And a player doesn't needs to be head and shoulder better than his team mates for his performance to deserve mention.

I think against "lesser" teams, having him in a 2 man midfield works.
Against "better" teams, having him higher in a 3 works imo.

Its getting there though with him. Funny thing is, the two shots he hit the woodwork with, (header and shot from range), he scores those two, we have a few more points than we do and his stats are 10 appearances, 5 goals...
Fine margins and all.

He doesn't do well receiving the ball with his back to goal as a 10 often does. He's best when he can pick it up deeper and drive forward.

I feel like scoring a goal like that one might take a bit of pressure off him. We were all waiting for it and he's been trying to do it, so I'm glad it's come sooner rather than later. What a finish it was

Literally click on their profiles and it tells you who won it. I don't know who won the caf one but I know it wasn't pogba.

I just checked and it was Zlatan, no idea what you're distinctly remembering.

Yeah you're right, I'm getting things mixed up

I only knew because I checked earlier how often Pogba had won it and was quite surprised tonight would only be his second, same as zlatan. They have both put in a couple of good showings despite getting a fair bit of stick on here, think it just shows instant results are expected of players of their reputation even though they're not for other players.

You aren't taking up controversial opinions though, most people did rate Herrera, its just some turned last season because due to his lack of minutes he was never sharp, and he is the player in our squad who most relies on sharpness, he was playing bad but would always improve hugely after a run of games.

Pogba is the most expensive player in the world, when he starts playing well its not going to be hugely surprising.

It's easy to say that in hindsight, when my thoughts were amongst the mindless drivel of uninformed, hyperbole comments (to be fair from a vocal but ultimately minority opinion).

Are you still mad, I called you out on your bs, claiming Rooney's form and place in the team was NOT a factor in our tumescent playing style/potential?

Look I'm not here to be vindicated but as a Utd fan, whilst the improvement is subtle and even slow, it's still miles better now that Rooney is a non-factor.

Tonight Rooney actually played okay imo. Fundamentally the 'best' I've seen him for a while, which is still faint praise tbh because my standards for him has dropped considerably.

Spot on. He isn't exactly a water carrier, so maybe people hold a grudge because he does not get "stuck in there". That one pass out to the right after the freekick was just insane. There was also a couple of moments where he held up the ball very well, then started an attack with a switch of play or a crisp pass.

I think he was better yesterday in his positionning. Mainly because he played with Carrick behind him but he's getting used to this position now.

He's still a bit short when it comes to protect the defense but he was ok.

Not a perfect match, or a match he walked on opponents but he was ok. Let's now see how he does against Kante and Matic on Sunday

Was wondering what kind of shit he was about to pull when he started that run up. We all know he's got history with taking weird penalties. That disallowed one against Liverpool reserves anyone?

What I love most about him is how well he can keep and move the ball in tight spaces, he's so strong but yet skillful, very difficult to get the ball off such players.

I agree. I love everytime he wins the ball in midfield against two players, then just skips through them with such elegance to create space for himself.

Its also very easy to say what you said at the time.

I don't know but Rooney played tonight and we scored four goals and he played well which you're admitting to in your third sentence, which points out what you said in your second sentence as bs given that's probably the best we have looked going forward this season. Not entirely sure why you're bringing that up.

Yeah but I'm not looking for congratulations. I don't load up my previous posts to brag when what I have said is contrarian to some knee jerk opinions. Most of your posts seem to refer to a previous post you think we should be aware of.

I think he has shown glimpses for now, we will see the real pogba after january when he has 6 months under him. I think same about Henrikh, i expect us to have the best form from january with these two playing most important roles.

for me we need get the ball forward quicker when hes playing, thats why i still say we need Carrick starting as much as possible with Herrera and Pogba in a midfield 3, for all he was quiet on monday he did produce the clearest chance of the game with his pass to Zlatan, dont think it helps we dont really have a settled side at the moment either.

He's also created 11 chances in 6 PL games. He's put stuff on a plate for his team mates at times this season and they've not finished it off.

We could easily be sitting here discussing how he has 5 goals and 3 assists.

He's completed the most dribbles out of any PL player. More succsssful through balls than any other player in the PL this season.

All this whilst people are forgetting that he had no pre season and he has always started the season slower and improves and gets better as it goes on.

Yup! There's a weird weird culture where people are just out to criticise and put down no matter what.

There's one guy whose first posts on the majority of post match threads are about Pogba, like literally as soon as the game finishes it's on the first page. Not the team, not the result, not the game..... Pogba.

Weird obsession to want someone at your club to fail simply because you took a stance in the summer that he wasn't worth the fee.

His chance creation has been low compared to others. Barkley has created 20 odd chances. The best creators create many chances. Ozil created 144 last year. thats how you get assists, not by creating the odd chance. And the through ball stat is bollocks. Below is the through ball ranking for 2016/17. I do believe the dribbling one though as he is a beast with his feet

What I notice watching him play is that as soon as his confidence is up, he goes up another level. He just starts playing with much more swagger... and that is when he is at his best. As soon as his penalty went in, it seemed like the weight was off the shoulders and he just got better and better.
