Decided not to run today, or so it seems

Or he's been told to play deeper and hold his position. I'm sure you can understand that with no Carrick, someone has to stay in there.

Developing a habit of not turning up for the first half of games.

Honestly, do people not have any pateince?

Usually I'd agree but when you are the most expensive player in history and have a reputation albeit in a poorer league to be a match winner and a big game player you'd be forgiven to expect a bit more than he has currently produced.

His positioning was off and his movement wasn't great either. I'm not talking about offensive runs, I'm talking about literally running instead of staying/jogging.

He'll probably have a great second half though, with Blind there and a comforting score

I suspect even you don't know what you're on about with that post.

The increased media scrutiny is them highlighting his social media activity. They are already aware of his social media activity. There you go. This is derailing the thread, as to just point out once again, your concerns are completely off base and irrelevant to anything, so probably best to leave it.

When pogba plays with a bit more freely and forwards he holds onto the ball a tad longer in hope of finding a defence splitting pass or creating magic, and then gets slaughtered for it unless they always come off or he scores or assists.
Today as the deepest midfielder, I thought he was releasing it quickly and playing tidy, switching it when he needs to, doing the Carrick role. When advancing, he was contributing with snappy quick passes on the edge of the box.Yes, he has yet to fully slice open a defense, but he seemed to be being slaughtered for this also.

Surely there's a middleground between Zidane and Eboue?

I'd also like to see his passing and touch stats and passing range match for this match so far.

Hes playing in a deeper role. His job is not to be a match winner. Thats the four infront who are doing that.

Odd, odd time to complain.

This game yeah, I actually think he's been okay this game but others where he does play further forward he has at times been disappointing.

It's internet fans mate. Some of the worst there are. Add the frustration of a match day and they become even more dopey.

right, we're all frustrated with him because we're 'internet fans'. It's perfectly okay for him not to get involved physically in a game, jog around in no-man's land, because he's special.
Any other player would be subbed off by now.

Its not just my concerns though - its the concern of quite a few fans and ex players. The media know what went on, and they sought it necessary to question the professionalism on live TV which was led by an ex player and big supporter of the club.

And I'm not derailing anything - this is a Pogba thread.

problem is defensively he offers nothing.
Even his mere physical presence is N/A because he really does remain in no-man's land. It isn't just this game. I prefer to see him involved in our attacks, even if he wastes chances..he can only get better.

We're comfortable now, so I hope he gets involved now.

Position wise he's been good today, if there was one criticism of him to make today its that he doesn't use his body strength well enough when trying to win back possession. That's a common criticism that can be made of him throughout his career so far which is why he appears to disappear from games at time, defensively he's not aggressive enough yet.

You can see from our players today how bad an affect his actions have had on morale, or again it could be that it has zero effect on anything.

Agree

I didn't say his actions were bad for morale, I said it brings on unnecessary scrutiny (which it did).

Are you reading my posts? FWIW I don't think Pogba is having that great a game today even though we're 3 nil up.

You said it unsettles the team and manager, that's morale, are you reading your posts?

I think he had a nice five minute patch and I thought he was going to regain some confidence but that's it, him and Herrera must be under instruction to just pass it back because they seem to have no adventure to their game, I really thought he was going to take this game over. I think we need to get Martial out there for over the top balls as Rashford for some reason doesn't seem to be able to stay onside at the moment.

I said its wise to avoid unnecessary media scrutiny during a rocky phase, because it can affect the manager and unsettle the team. It was a general statement. Go visit the post match Hull comments, you'l find the anger amongst fans specifically towards Pogba. They were taking a piss and we drew 0-0 the next day.

Its been a good 4-5 since for the dust to settle. I don't know why you're using todays game.. you're just proving today why its best to keep your banter pisstake videos away the night before a game.

If he would have uploaded a video last night do you feel anything would be different today, genuinely?

He looks like he wants a goal now. Fellaini coming on has given him license to get forward a bit, hope he does something.

I actually didn't think it would have any impact on his performances. I was just disappointed that a player can upload a video of him messing about in the dressing room on the eve of a must-win game when the teams position is poor and the player's performances aren't far off.

Alright.

All in all not a good game, haven't seen a replay but think he just dived so could have got a second yellow, but I'm not really sure.

Not sure if you realised, but we absolutely just coasted to a 3-0 win.
Apply some balance to your viewpoint, and people might respect your views more.

He did fine, this what you'll get with him in a 2 man midfield, some nice passes and concerted effort to track runners even though it's clearly not something he's suited to. I thought he had to take up a lot of slack as Herrera was running around like a headless chicken at times and he was the deeper of 2, tasked with protecting the back 4 and getting us started from the back.

I like how he makes the simple things look good. Id like to see him do more of that at times rather than trying to run with the ball whilst surrounded by 3 people when theres an easy obvious pass that can free somebody.

I'm just gonna say that as someone who never followed that much of Pogba I expected way more from reading this forum an his interviews. Many on here suggested he's going to be the next player to win multiple Ballon D'ors like Messi and Ronaldo. He himself said that was his goal. For some reason I thought he would be tearing up the league like that. I'm just not sure if he's that special of a player anymore

Growing into his role.
The expectations brought about because we paid a fortune are understandable but if he had not left us and come back, in other words come up through the youth team, 99% of posters would be raving about another gem through the production line.
Have a word with yourselves!

A solid performance. Nothing special but no mistakes either.

Hope the same moaning mugs in here are in the Herrera thread as well

Now he was poor today.

Kept things simple and moving. We needed that from him. Good performance.

Jesus there's not keeping people happy on this forum, he was clearly asked to play the ''Carrick Role'' today. That's why he was bombing forward and playing it safer than normal.
