If he comes here, he will probably be loaned out because there's no way he's getting into the team. We can watch clips that show his quality but there are so many other things you have to consider. Is he physically ready, has he the mental strength to play for the biggest club in the world, does he have the personality of a winner. Some of these things, we don't know about the lad, and its vital to know when deciding who to buy in the transfer window.

Alex Ferguson had gone to Mexico to see Hernandez and he met his family there as well. By doing that he got to know other characteristics of Javier and so he knew after speaking with them and of course watching him play, that he ticked all the boxes. He then knows his players inside out and that helps a coach in dealing with different types of characters in the dressing room and who to play on match day.

Plus he completely destroyed the Mexican league his last year there.

Well that is all well and good but Fergie signed Obertan even though Blanc told him that the lad was a mental midget. He signed Bebe on a whim without ever seeing him play! He signed Berbatov even though it was known in the game that he was known to be mentally flaky.

Van Gaal's transfer record has often been criticised too, especially his Dutch signings. I think that managers follow their nose more often than we realise.

Could see this happening, ive seen him play a few times and i was very impressed! But im no united scout so who knows, the kid has talent though!

is he injured or playing the youth games?

hasn't played for the first team for a while now right? (not even on the bench today)

Maybe he is a done dealio (hopefully for us) and is being kept safe...

He just doesn't get a look in at the minute. Not a surprise really considering he has a long way to go, especially in terms of his decision making on the pitch & Fulham are in a scrap near the bottom of the league so it's not exactly the best time to be throwing him in from their point of view. Should've still probably featured a bit more than he has though.

just checking the table... cant believe Wigan is almost at the bottom.

ps. fair enough from Fulham point of view then... A victory over Blackpool would leave them in the safe zone, so maybe Roberts can make a cameo the last 2 games.

Tbf he's not deserved a place, he thinks he's the business. George Williams has looked a better prospect on performance and Emerson Hyndman than Roberts.

Fulham have quite a good set-up it seems. What's up with Moussa Dembele? Started breaking into the first-team at 17, big talent he looked, but been quiet for a while.

Plays for Spurs.
Who's gonna bite first?

Fulham's manager didn't really trust their young talents this season.Dembele is still only 18 so still have a bright future ahead. His contract is up next summer so they must play him regularly next season or risk losing him for peanuts.

Interesting, thanks. I had noticed that Woodrow has gotten games this season though, I'm sure he's in the same age group. Is he the most highly-rated or something? I haven't been that impressed when I've seen him.

No Woodrow is 20.He's okayish but obviously more ready physically and stuffs.I'm probably a bit harsh with their talents but I only rate Roberts and Dembele unless I missed out on someone.

Woodrow is decent considering the shite Fulham play, he's miles ahead of Dembele who's not stepped up from the u21s. Was probably a bit early for him.

He's had a few injuries this season which have held him back a bit. United scouted him in the Fulham u21 game against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago which he scored in.

Being linked with city today
Might simply be because he is homegrown but would be a good signing for them based on his potential, likely low fee / wages and of course being homegrown

I'd like to see us bagging the elite level English talent, if he is one. From what I hear we are seriously falling behind in this aspect which is a shame.

A good signing if he is sent out on loan to get the game time he needs and deserves. I'd hate to see another player wasted by City.

I'm going to sound bias, but I really see Gribbin as having more talent than this kid. He's done nothing to suggest he's anything but talented at the moment, which I think Gribbin has done in equal measure. City will have a long wait on their hands for him to make the first team IMO.

Seems a fair bit quicker than Gribbin , but other than that, I'd agree that our Callum doesn't look to have inferior ability. Still, I'd wanted us to get Roberts.

Yeah, agreed, he's a couple of years on him as well, so would half expect that! Yeah, I'd like him as well, but I'm not sure he should be moving to a prems u21 team/trying to find a loan. He'd be better off trying to break through at Fulham this season.

I rate Gribbin as much as the next guy but at 15-16 Roberts dominated at u18 level in a way Gribbin has yet to do.

We've been after him for a while now.

Hope we don't let him move anywhere without a fight.

Was far from impressed from what I saw of him last season. Lots of players thrive at youth level and fail to make the grade. In saying that, the circumstances he was thrown into last season were far from ideal. Fulham were a shambles for most of the season and played some woeful stuff along with managerial changes. So far, it's all hype.

true, it's probably more of a case where Roberts has stalled a bit, where as Gribbin has improved no end in a year. Plus a bit of rose-tinted specs. I'd love him to succeed though, don't get me wrong.

Well I think Roberts is more like Griezmann was at Sociedad and Gribbin plays more like Ozil, Roberts has more spead, takes players on more often, is more explosive and can play in more positions, and Roberts has been the absolute star at u 17/18/19 level internationally, would be quite early to compare them, even tho Roberts isnt 20 yet. Gribbin looks like a serious talent nevertheless.

Roberts should be very careful about his next move IMO.

I don't think a top 4 club is necc the right way to go unless they have a loan planned for him in advance. An Everton, Southampton, Palace etc would be a good move for him. A club that trusts youngsters, creates enough chances to score from and is a decent environment to improve.

City would be a disaster IMO.

Yeah, I've tarred them with a very broad "talent brush", which is my fault. I know how different their style are and they're not really comparable. I was more comparing them in the sense that we have talent at home without getting someone in, who IMO, hasn't done enough at even championship level to suggest he should move on just yet.

Similar picture today as the Delph one yesterday walking in for a City medical. Rumours are it's Patrick Roberts, but that takes a sharper eye than mine to confirm.

Who seems the bigger talent out of Roberts and Dembele? Both seemed to be right on track for Fulham U18
Both exceptional at youth level, both struggled in the Championshop.

Dembele in particular has looked woeful for them, lazy, wasteful and clumsy on the ball. Roberts has shown flashes of brilliance but has really struggled with the physicality and hasn't been able to translate his cutting in and dribbling ability from youth level to playing against proper professional defenders.

His career is over at City.

He's 18 and some consider him quite a talent, but translate that to where Sterling is two years on and it makes you realise how harshly Sterling is being judged by some people, and how much of a talent he actually is. Far beyond his years.

We should be looking at these type of signings more as well along with the Galacticos Woody is obviously eyeing.

Chelsea have particularly done well with such.
