Patrick Dorgu | Medical today? No. Weekend.

I mean we are signing him to come straight into the first team aren’t we? Just that we signed Amad for big money and he never came to start straight away, he went in the youth set up and then on a few loans.
Wasn't Amad also a teenager who'd only played one game of senior football when we signed him? We basically signed him off of scout recommendations, especially after he came to Manchester and tore City apart in a youth CL game for Atalanta.

Dorgu is way more experienced, over 50 Serie A games under his belt, and also a few caps for Denmark.

Amad wasn't bought to be a first team player, it took him several years to get there, it appears that Dorgu is expected to be first choice LWB in a dysfunctional team in a new country and a wholly different kind of league in regards to pace and physicality, I can't help feeling he's being set up to fail, hope I'm wrong though

idk for me a wingback should be a good position to integrate such a player. You stay wide, defend crosses, and get forward to put in crosses of your own. Sounds simple enough, even though i know easier said than done. Going like CB where there is no cover at times, or anything really in the central where you can get swarmed would prob be a harder ask for a new league player

What does that even mean.
Haha is it really that confusing? I meant that I watched a few clips of him, not a lot mind you, and my initial reaction was that he looked to be a bit short. He looked small and robust.

It is probable, if I'm being honest, that my dumb brain saw him and LB and the way he moved athletically etc etc and I associated him with Evra. I think that was my problem, and I now know that I was way wrong.

Unsure what this point is. I agree we've revamped our scouting but I don't think it's unreasonable to have reservations on price paid vs established quantity based in some online videos. Impressions change, it's not set in stone.
My point is / was that you asked the question "why is an opinion based on 'all-touches' video on YouTube not valid" and my response used a tool in Philosophy called "reducing an argument to absurdity"

If you can just watch a few clips on YouTube and immediately know more than a whole team of professional scouts and analysts, why can't you apply the same principle for repairing an F1 car, or performing surgery or building a rocket?

Anyway...let's just see how the lad gets on!

Yeah I didn't insinuate this. So let's move on.

I would now like to see an attacker if Garna leaves. But staying as is would be fine too.

I've never watched Dorgu live, but I'm looking forward to seeing him in action for us. It's clear that we’ve been missing a natural left-footed left wing-back, so I’m hoping his arrival will bring a new dimension to our play down the left-hand side.

Physically, he looks more than capable of handling the demands of the Premier League, which is crucial in such a high-intensity league.

With him on one flank and Amad on the other, we should have a strong balance of athleticism and technical ability—hopefully giving us the edge to break teams down more effectively.

I think Dorgu's arrival will reduce the need for Garnacho to play as a No. 10. Dalot, being right-footed, naturally cuts inside or inverts, which has allowed Garnacho to drift wide and operate more like a traditional left winger. However, with Dorgu now potentially occupying those spaces when he comes in, Amorim will likely want a true No. 10 who can thrive in the half-spaces.

This is why I believe our interest in Nkunku is genuine, as he fits that role far better than Garnacho, who relies on space to be at his most effective.

And they paid a lot more for him. One decent Euros and one decent season in Serie A, this doesn’t make him established as a player in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong I think Caliafori is yet to reach that price tag too. Though the euros hype probably inflated his worth in the market.

30k is incredible for the club. Hope he doesn’t feel bitter when he’s sprinting back to defend and sees Rashford sitting in the box, with his grillz and bucket hat, earning 10x that while doing f all!

I am sure the club are hoping that he wont even set eyes on Rashford by the time he is training next week.

I agree 100% Dorgu is the exact kind of profile of player I want to see us sign.

Liverpool signed the likes of Gini (can't spell his surname) and Robertson from struggling and relegated clubs. It turnt out well for them, because they knew exactly what the manager needed to succeed.

I hope we can follow the same path.
In what way? Price wise or the type of player?

Excited about this, and certainly less of a known commodity than most of the guys signed over the summer. Love the move towards buying younger players, him, Leon and Amass will hopefully battle it out and give us good depth at the position as they develop. I suspect given the physical strain of the position we will need good depth, and there will be rotation between them. The good thing is if they all develop well there is position flexibility there that Dorgu can play different positions, and I think I read Leon could play LCB.

I'm really not too bothered about whether we end up light in certain positions if it means shifting the high earners / deadwood.

We're obviously not going to go down, so it really doesn't matter TOO much

The comparisons to Malacia are silly. The facts are:

He is bigger, faster, stronger than Malacia, 5 years younger and more technical ability going forward.

Dorgu is one of the most coveted young players in the world.

Do you think he fits system better than Tel?

As long as he is athletic, strong and pacy, I think he will do well and LWB or RWB. Looking forward for his integration into the XI. With another 17 yo athletic pacy wb coming in June, we well stock with good player. We need a ST, AM and CM in the summer in order to compete for top 4.

We still need one more experienced WB I feel which I think we will go for in summer.

That’s what everyone thought a few years back about our attacking lineup when we had Martial, Rashford and Greenwood.
Plus, neither Dorgu nor Leon have even kicked a ball in anger for us yet. I hope not but what if they're both shite for example?

25M
30k a week

That’s impressive to be fair

Good luck to him. Hope he hits it off quickly

Agree, people too focused on the headline fee, when a transfer is fee + wages. His relatively low wages make this a pretty good deal.

That’s like poverty wages for a footballer. Good job!

fecking breadline

We finally learn as a club not to tank value on unproven PL recruits upfront.

You do realise Italian media Quotes wages after taxes . So 30 k would be around 55k a week if we were to actually believe the information .

Doesn't sound that impressive suddenly .

His signing means we’re set for the next 10 years at LWB with him and Diego Leon.
Thats what we thought when we signed Blind, Darmian, Malacia. For all we know Diego Leon might turn into Diego Loaned at some point.

Did they I don't remember that way they were are all low level Punts who were seen as squad level talents at best.

Anyway this 10 year thing is always a long shot even with potential world class talents let alone with players who have all to prove .

Seems we low balled them, and it worked?

So this is what it's like to have a competent recruitment team, nice.
How is this lowballing? They asked for 40 and we got them to 35, which is almost double their club’s transfer record. 35 for a guy with 50 odd games.

And still this is the level people who watched Dorgu here and there (not me) place him at
That's fair enough won't argue against it but unlike those players these are youngsters who have plenty of scope for development as well and look part physically atleast .

Never heard that with blind and Darmian and wasn’t he an RB anyway?
